Interesting stuff

I could think of some projects for these pieces...

Pair Altec Lansing 16" Duplex Horn Speakers 299 & 515 - eBay (item 150545104128 end time Jan-14-11 16:45:51 PST)

I was watching them, but I simply can't afford them right now. I didn't think the auction was supposed to end already, but I don't see any evidence of being ended early.

I'd really want the cabinets, too, and being in FL, plus being a future separate auction makes things even more expensive.

These were on craigslist listed for $600. I sent out an Email to buy them but a local flipper got to them first. They were in the cabinets and had attached suspending hardware. I wanted to set them between the four loaded 8256 cabs i have in the listening room as a line array. I was very disappointed to see the speakers parted out, less than four days seeing them on craigslist to seeing them on Ebay. A shame in my view. DwayneB

I think he picked the wrong system to part out...... and he paid too much, if he paid $600 with the intent to make a profit.

They're smaller than A7's, as the cabinet is a modified 816.

and they'll do 130 db as a point source. think of them as the 604's big brother. i was looking at them as well, if i had one more i could load my 210 cabs with them.

They are something you don't see everyday! This is the existence of our country today.It is a shame A REAL SHAME !!! :(

So you have three of them? Did you buy the three out of Ohio a year or two ago? I was told they went to MT.

indeed i did.. got a screamin deal and they showed up on a pallet 3 days later. then the dts controller showed up on the bay so i nabbed that..
ive played them with an active crossover..three way, with stereo subs..in the living room , next to my 210 cabs for about 6 months. i crossed into the horn at 1200 hz, but never tried the dts system. i took them out becouse they are just not as dynamic as the 210's. dont get me wrong..they are detailed and the bass is what you would expect from a horn loaded 515-8ghp, the horns..smooth, like velvet, yet crisp at the same time.maybe clean is a better description. still, not the staging i have come to need in my listening space. 210's sound effortless in their reproduction... fill the whole house type of sound

I love the way my one sounds........ clean/detailed/fills-house, but I don't have 210's to compare with, either.
