Region D Division 1 Boys

Division One Boys:
#1: Hurley/Twin Springs. Both have 16 points from regular season and number one seed in district tournaments. Neither can fall below #2.
#2: Hurley/Twin Springs
#3: St. Paul has 12 points from the regular season and should have a lock on the three seed.
#4: John I. Burton has nine points from the regular season.
#5: Castlewood has nine points from the regular season
6-8: Thomas Walker/Rye Cove/Appalachia
Burton/Castlewood will battle it out over the remainder of the district tournament slate to see who hosts the other. The one that performs the best gets the nod for the home game. 6-8 is a mess. Ervinton and Pound are out as both finished last and lost in the opening round of their tournaments. From what I gather it would currently be T. Walker, Appalachia, and Rye Cove for 6-8.

Thomas Walker would get the nod over Rye Cove. I guess Appy/RC are really going to be tossed up for the 7-8 seeds.

They'll both get in from what I can tell. Looks like Appy 7 with RC 8.

That is what I was expecting also. If thats the case, I hope Twin Springs gets the 1 seed.

I heard Appy wasn't going to make the tournament because of a forfeit to Rye Cove. Is this true?

I had not heard that, but if so, that may help RC go to the 7 seed. If so, I would prefer TS to be the 2 seed.

What about Twin Valley and Council? You're saying both of those teams are out from the BDD? I'd be shocked if that happens since one of them is guaranteed 4th place points in the tournament...

I haven't kept up with the BDD tournament to know what is going on or who finished where there in the regular season.

I think Council would get in now due to the recent news about Appalachia.

One of them would outpoint RC even I would think.

Looks to me like Twin Valley is out and Council is in. Council beat Twin Valley the other night in the BDD play in round.

The only thing that I could think of would be that the last spot or so in D1 will come down to teams with the same amount of points and if Appy must forfeit a game to RC, that may cost them a tiebreaker.

Yes apparently Appy had to forfeit a win against the Cove earlier in year and its costing them now.

Maybe an eligibility issue or something. This is the first I am hearing about it though, so it may just be hearsay.

So it is looking like TW will be 6th seed. Council will get 7 seed due to tournament points. Then that leaves the 8 seed to RC or Appy. I'd have to imagine TS and Hurley are hoping for RC to get in.

Appy probably doesn't have much of a shot against either Hurley or TS, but RC doesn't have Forrest Stuart.

RC will be 8, Appalachia is out. Appalachia has to forfeit the game against Rye Cove in the Coal Classic for use of an ineligible player that was not listed on the eligibility list.

Im afraid Hurley will end up getting the #1 if they win the BDD tourney. If common opponents come into play between them and TS, TS had a loss to Council which could sting them here.
