Lee over Central 20-14
Burton over Lee 7-0
Lebanon over Central 7-6
After first quarter Burton leading Lebanon 14-0
And in the benefit game Clintwood is leading Honaker 28-14 in the 4th.
Best I can remember it was:
Lee High 21, Central 6
Burton 7, Lee High 0
Lebanon 7, Central 6 - Lebanon had a 2 play goaline stand as time expired to win.
Burton 14, Lebanon 0
Burton over Lebanon 14-7 final.
How did Lee look? I'm really anticipating their game versus Union next week. Should be a good one!
Welp I was there tonight, and As I predicted... Central is gonna be in for a LOOOOONG year, they could barely play dead.
6-4 (0-3) If they are really lucky. Burton wasn't as bad as people said they were? Burton looked good this early, but im still doubtful it will be enough to be better than 3rd or so in the District. Did the folks in wise really think adding the bunch from pound to their roster, and making the schedule somewhat tougher would make their team magically better?
All I can say is the team I saw play tonight looked like Pound, and played like Kelly.
For as good as Central is going to be in girls basketball and baseball they should have a down football season.
Lord knows we put alot of stock in jamborees around here :) Central dumps that junk 3-5 defense and goes to 5-3,they'll be ok
Nobody has looked like worldbeaters like we'd expect through "practice games". Clintwood seems to be the cream of the crop but it's way too early yetQuote:

man our defense is going to have to improve drastically before we have any sucess and i agree that 3-5 is not going to work well...........

I'm not sure about Appy and PV from last year but I do know Union is a very solid team with plenty of size and athleticism. I would not be surprised they go 2-3 games deep in playoffs.Quote:

Nobody expects you to turn you back on "your" team, but acting like Either Pound or J.J. Kelly has a Rich Football tradition of being hard nosed or even GOOD, is laughable. I said I predict Union going 6-4 4-0 Winning the District and Central being on the bottom. You think adding 2 bad football programs together and giving it a new names makes it less of a bad football program? If it wasn't for the State Title J.J. Kelly won in 81 or whatever it was, Their football program as a whole would be on the same level as Ervington's which I bet they are even smart enough fans to not say stuff like you guys are saying. Its laughable. The difference is Powell Valley and Appalachia DO have Rich Traditions in Football perhaps not so much of late, but Our schools combining Could give us a spark needed to rekindle flames that thoes in the vally know have been raging to burn free and out of control. If you didn't see the mediocracy, of your teams performance even this early, then I feel sorry for anyone whos a fan of central because you really think you are going to be competative. Sure all teams aren't where they are going to be by week 10, but the problem is You guys couldn't play your way out of a paper bag, maybe by 10 you'll be busting through plastic. A harsh reality is on the horizon folks, I hate you are too blind and or stupid to see it. Be proud all you want, your Football team is going to be Garbage, and Baseball team is going to be Sick nasty.Quote:

Winning state last season has nothing to do with this season. perfect example is the 99 powell valley vikings. we only lost two season games that year and clintwood handed our butts to us in the playoffs. What kills me is how adults can talk trash about a teen age young man who is going out and bust his hump to do what he loves. If that was your child how would you feel about someon posting some of this stuff. Let the season play out and brag about wins then and discuss losses then not now.
