Vintage Altec Electronics

Hi all,

I happened to pick up some old Altec electronics from a company that was about to dispose of them. I've tried to determine if any of it works, but my first attempt proved that the amplifier had had the circuit boards removed.

I'm not at all familiar with the workings of electronics, so there's no possibility of me getting them going. Was wondering if anybody out there would have a use for them? Don't want anything for them - Just looking to see them go to someone who can use them.

Here's a list of some of the components & I'll post some pics in the near future.

1593B amplifier
1606B Mixer/Amp
1609A Bi-Amplifier
1611A Mixer/Amp
129B Amp
361B Amp
1599A Mixer Extender
1692A Mixer/Preamp

There's also a couple of Altec Acousta Voicing equalisers.

Yeah, I saw he changed his username........ darn, I didn't realize he was outside the US. That Bi-amp would have been a nice toy.

Yeah, sorry guys.....Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Australia. The bi-amp was the one I was hoping to get going too, but the circuit boards inside are missing.

Well they all look complete, but I had the Bi Amp checked out by a tech & found the circuit boards were missing. I think this would suit someone who either has the technical knowledge or is prepared to spend some money to let someone have a look at them & determine if they are working or not.

I wonder if that 1609A would use the same board as the 1594A.

If you look at each photo in succession I have taken a photo of the front & the rear of each unit. If anyone can use these let me know, I'll I ask is for the delivery freight & any packing materials.

John you need to change your camera from VGA. Pictures are almost like thumbnails, slightly larger.

Hmmmm.....it won't let me upload any photo larger than 19.5Kb. Not quite sure what to do here.......& how do I get rid of older photos that it says I have?....which is using up storage space.

Get a host...I recommend Photobucket.

After uploading there under info one option is image code. Click on that, it will say COPIED , them paste that into your text at the appropriate point. Much better than using the board's photo hosting.


I would maybe have an interest in the first unit.

+1 I agree with OG.That's what I use too. You can upload couple ways, OG's way will post a link or you can upload photos directly by clicking on the "Direct Link" and than pasting that link into the image Icon box at the top of reply box.The Icon is just to the right of the (Insert Email Link -Envelope) . When the image box opens click from URL and then paste link and "uncheck" (retrieve remote file and reference locally)

You are mistaken AB. The image code inserts the pic into the post.

All you are doing is generating an image code, why do double work?

Yeah, that image code will do just fine if pasted into your post. Very handy!

I do have a use for the mixer extender...and possibly the amp combiner (has the red connectors on front)if shipping to 43212 isn't too expensive.

Remember I'm on a Windows Vista machine everything is a** backwards ! When I post the link into the post it just posts the link when I do it this way it posts the actual image into the post .Dunno ?

Glad you would be able to use some of this, but as I say, not sure what works & what doesn't.
I'll try & get a shipping price worked out & let you know. I assume 43212 is in America??

OG, shipping from Aus isn't going to be cheap. None of this stuff is really lightweight.

Hi OG,

Have an estimate for the shipping costs.

Both items packed in one carton weigh 9 kg. By air freight it would be close to $190 Aust. or by sea freight it would be $125 Aust. I need to buy a carton & some packing materials as well.

Just to confirm that it is the 1599A Mixer Extender (post #30) & the 1603A Sequr (post #23) that is of interest?

OG you are certainly correct.I was messing around with it.And posted using the IMG code. Thanks Buddy ! :smile2: :wink2:

I was always direct linking.They both work the same but your way is a little easier !

However,IMG doesn't allow you to expand image (Clickable) by clicking image, if it has been re-sized.Direct linking does :wink2:

You old guys can teach us young guys some new tricks or is it teach you old guy some new tricks ? :tongue2:
