At Va Tech. At least 2 dead.
When will it ever stop there. One was a VA Tech police officer. He was married and had 5 kids.
I may be wrong but the other one dead was the killer. I'm guessing when the other cops found him, they took him out. If that is what happened good for them.
Looks like a personal grudge to me. Man targeted the cop and then killed himself. Not likely he picked him at random.
According to news reports posted online this morning he appears to have shot himself with the same weapon he used to kill the officer.
There was another person present when he shot the officer and he didn't target that person. This was a personal issue.
Let's be honest. They are so many if's here. If the cops that where on foot after the guy and got to him, I'm sure they took the guy out. Do I think that the news reporters where told that he shot himself. Yes I do. The cops aren't going to say they took the guy out even if they did.
Yeah, I'm sure we'll know more soon but it sure seems to be a personal vendetta type of thing. Murder suicide for sure. I'm going to guess there was a woman involved, maybe the shooters wife. Just a guess.....
If the cops wanted to kill him all they would have to do is claim he pointed his weapon at them and they had to bring him down. Wouldn't make much sense to go to the trouble of shooting him with his own weapon or lying about what weapon killed him and then take the risk of it all coming out later and blowing up in their faces.
The shooter was actually enrolled at UVA-Wise in 2007. He also served on SGA during 07 as well.
Alleged shooter identified as Ross Ashley - CollegiateTimes.com
Really don't get why it's relevant that he attended UVAw once upon a time, like it matters in the least bit, the timesnews posted a story like it meant anything...guy probably took a piss in Wise County too, does that matter? UVAw is actually ranked the 3rd safest university in the country. And it's silly to think the cops actually shot him and tried to cover it up, why in the world would they do that? Makes no sense, has no purpose and could easily be blown up in their face as mentioned before.
And I don't think it's a personal thing either, there's absolutely nothing to suggest it, he had no connections to the cop or VT...the guy had stolen a vehicle the day before and was ditching it at VT, makes sense he would freak about seeing a cop and get busted or something.
I think the point of mentioning that is he seemed like a normal guy. He attended another college, was elected by his peers to the student council, and held a high GPA that earned him a spot on the Dean's List. I doubt they mentioned his time at UVA-Wise to disparage the school, and would have probably mentioned this no matter where he previously attended. I read that as this was (what seemed like) a normal All-American kid who went off the deep end...someone you wouldn't expect.
same thing with the part about him being on the football team for 2 years.
Has nothing to do with the shooting... just provides background on him.
