They do look really nice..... I don't think the cabinet paint is original, Though. They look a little too good for that.
ITS A TRICK OG!!!
Their fakes! There are no wires going to the horn drivers. :biggrin2:
PLEASE keep posting these deals OG. I WILL get a set of those one of these days.
Are those the proper components? I thought 421's were guitar amp speakers? and the 808's?
They are pretty though. :)
Definitely Restored specimens there ! The stickers look like they were just applied. Very Nice looking pair !!!
421/808 is the standard load for an MI version A-7. Have owned at least half a dozen pairs all straight factory.

For the mid '70s 1208 MI series VOTT, plus with no rear vertical braces these appear to be original 1208s/828 cabs which initially was made out of 3/4" ply Vs the 825's 5/8", so the cabs would be relatively rare if true for these. Regardless, unless you want them for a retro rock band, not worth the asking price as it would cost too much to convert them to HIFI/HT use.

I think the color may be off on the stickers, too....... unless that's just his-camera/my-monitor doing that. I don't have it in front of me, but the good sticker I have from a damaged cabinet, isn't that gold-ish looking that I recall.
The stickers being in good shape doesn't necessarily indicate a restoration, to me. I pulled a cabinet from a theatre that had one sticker in great shape...... the other had a hole burned through it, and the wood.
Wouldn't that indicate right there a restoration ? New paint ?
Now to me again that would indicate a restoration IMO ! I have never seen a pair pulled from a theater with 4 perfect stickers not a scratch on the cabs either anywhere ! Whenever you apply new paint to anything it can be considered a restoration IMHO ! :wink2:
You're mis-understanding........... I never said they weren't restored. New paint, yes a restoration*. Nice stickers, not a restoration necessarily. A cabinet that's been sitting undisturbed in a theater can still have nice stickers. The cabinet I bought from Studio 28 had a hole burned in one side, something heavy enough to crush it, fall on it, and it still had one nearly perfect sticker.
*assuming things are done well, if done badly, it's just something else to fix. I'd probably call a re-paint, a re-paint, and not a restoration since a restoration could involve much more....... but I wouldn't argue that point with anyone on something as simple as a speaker. It's not like a car.
I'm misunderstanding ? Don't think so ! New paint yes restoration, not necessarily a restoration ? Sounds like a lot of double talk is it or isn't it ?
1 perfect sticker and 4 perfect stickers are really 2 different things are they not ?Quote:

Your entitled to your opinion as I am with mine ! If you look at the very bottom it said IMHO !Quote:

I wouldn't argue that point with anyone ? Hmmm Really ? So your saying simple things can't be restored just dressed up to look pretty ?Quote:

FWIW- I never seen a VOTT cabinet that was sitting in a theater for 30-50+ years that came out looking like that not a scratch on them.No dust, dirt, grime, gouges, scratches, nothing. 4 perfect stickers, could it happen absolutely however unlikely ! Just a lot of little things to me would suggest they have been apart. For instance the back of the horns are scratched up but not the cabs ?The wood mounts have T-nuts were there shouldn't be one.So IMHO,they have been taken off and flipped over probably when the cabs were repainted/restored. :wink2:
For the age, mine are pretty nice. I doubt they were ever in a theatre. A few nicks, but never beat up. these are the ply versions.

Decals are original. The dust is aftermarket.
Haven't even had a bite here on the forum
Gee, nothing like starting 2012 with a pissing match guys.
HFNY!
Who's arguing ? You quoted my opinion (IMHO) Not me quoting yours !!! I have no doubt we will always have a difference of opinion no matter what we talk about.I will say half full you will say half empty, that's a given ! :wink2:
Have a Happy New Year ABG ! :smile2:
I assure you, it was totally unintentional...... kind of like when you have a dream where all of sudden you find yourself standing naked in public and wondering, "What happened??? How'd I get here???".
Yes, I've had that dream....... no, I don't want to know what it means :-)
Well Anyhow ! Just heard from Zach. New paint and Decals ! Components are original ! I just new those decals were new ! :Big smile:
Hey John!
Happy New Year to you as well and thanks for the kind words!
Basically just paint and decals. Everything is original. The wires are just not in those pics. The cabs are equipped with the 809-8a crossovers and there is a cable that comes out the back that connects to the driver.
Let me know if you'd like to come take a look.
