Re: OT: Live From Daryl's House
Very, very nice!!! Friday nights are usually "Crank It Up" nights at our house, and most recently, Sunday afternoons have been added. Today, after Stanley Clarke "Live at the Greek", and a few tracks from Lee Ritenour, Les McCann/Eddie Harris, and Cal Tjader, I happened upon this thread. It took over!! What a nice way to have "dinner".
There's no pick of the litter, or runt. All excellent picks.
Thank you, BBC.
Regards,
SBC

Glad you like Dave! At the end of the day it's ALL about the music.(wish there was a "maestro" smiley to put here)
No good evening would be complete without a little Smokey Robinson, live from Daryl's house of course!

"Bookah" looks great! and Smokey is amazingly well preserved too.
As a touring band and mainstream pop artists in the 1980's Hall and Oates never did much in the way of impressing me or making me want to listen.
But, i must say i have a whole new appreciation for them now, especially Daryl and his bringing to life the vision he had of these sessions.
IMO, the marriage of artistry and technology has created something special in these intimate "live video and audio" sessions.

Current PC setup is a pair of 9849-8D's near field on class D chipamp(Lepai 2020A+). It's very satisfying, and a perfect match power/spl wise for late night listening. The 9849's were just recently swapped in place of PAS/Renkus duplexes that had been my PC speaks for a couple years. I miss the 101db sensitivity, but that's about all that's missed. Something about the overall tonality of the Altecs will keep them in a near field system with me for some time to come.

++1 on all the awesome comments here.
Thanks for introducing us to this wonderful setlist, Bowtie.
I think my fave is the John Rzeznik GGD number - wow that is very very cool. All are something great and you can tell these guys are lovin' what they do - it's certainly raised my opinion of Daryl too. I wasn't a big fan of his style of music, but just with anyone, don't put them into a box based on what you see, right? And as far as your PC speakers, damn I'm jealous. I think I'm gonna really have to think about upgrading my rig. What kind of sound cards are you guys using?
Re: OT: Live From Daryl's House
Wow--lots of talent and some great sounds coming from Daryl's house--thanks for sharing this. I was never much of a fan of Hall and Oates, but I do own and enjoy one of their albums. In 1976 they released an album called "War Babies" that was totally different from anything they had ever recorded previously or since. They brought in veteran producer Todd Rundgren who had produced many artists/albums including Grand Funk's "We're An American Band" album and I really like what they came up with for the War Babies album. There are several tracks on that album that I really enjoy. I couldn't find a couple of my favorite songs from the disc on Youtube (only a few tracks have been uploaded) but I did find two that I like.
I love how 70's Scenario builds....

Not one of my favorites but this one's got a cool groove and "interesting" lyrics....

Just the cheesy factory chipset. Getting ready to try out a few different USB DAC's.
