Miker1 thanks for posting, always wanted to see what was behind and around the screens, especially when Altec is involved. Are you part of this auction? Sure you wont ship? Suprising so many different brands of speakers, I would think timbre matching would be difficult. Didnt think Altec was represented in this market this late but then again this theatre looks to be from the 80's and they were still in business.. Thanks very cool!!!!!
I have nothing to do with the auction but I do live nearby. I stumbled across the auction from a link on Craigslist. Quite a mixed bag of speakers they had going there. Note the variations of A7's with some EV componenets mixed in. It looks like some of their descriptions may not match the photos.
Could be some real bargains there for a MI resident.....
it says they do ship, but im going to call them and find out.
I haven't seen his auction on ebay for awhile, but there was a big seller over in Grand Rapids. If he doesn't make a play for them, Speakerguy2002 (Circuit Shop) certainly will, in Caledonia.
I'd love to make a big haul, but right now even getting the gas money together would be an issue. Still, I'll register just in case I could snag something low.
My problem is I don't have the room to add anything to my collection. I guess I'll let my fellow Michiganders get a deal.

I didn't see any preamps but there are lots of Ashley mosfet power amps. Home theatre and man-cave guys, take note of the popcorn machines and the seats.
Well the auctions ended. I registered but didn't bid. The fact that they used the same pictures for most of the individual auctions made me a bit nervous, especially when I noticed some were climbing higher than others for similar items. My first thought was replacement woofers of the non-Altec variety or damage that only a bidder who attended the preview would know about.

9444's going for 46 bucks at the end, 250 wpc ashly's averaging 90 bucks each.
I saw the front of at least one VOT, definitely an ALtec woofer and Mantaray horn, could have been A5's as easily as A7's. They all seemed to go in the 120-250 range.
if had a way to get them shipped i would have bid. i need to do seaches for fl theater auctions. if all i could have gotten were cabs that would be great. on the brite side maybe there will be a glut on ebay.
Yes, some of the 9444s did go that low, some went about $100. From what I saw all the pictures were the same. Who knows what lot number that woofer was labeled with. They had a disclaimer that said pictures didn't mean much, and to read the description. No woofers were specified in the descriptions, only the crossovers and HF drivers.......and I think Mantarays were applicable.Quote:

You have to watch closely, very poor performance by the auction company. Some of the JBL's were sold in lots of 4 like the Ashly(there's no E in Ashly :D ) power amps.Quote:
