Hmm, I'm familiar with this site and use some of its programs, but when I clicked on the link to see if there was anything new, AVAST blocked it as mal-ware.

Odd I just clicked, worked fine. Avast might think it's a redirect.
I've been there several times, It's a good site. Link works good here.
Dunno, just tried it again and I get the same message that it blocked 'doctorceme.ru'

If this is a dangerous link we need to delete the link ASAP. Does anyone know for sure if it is ?
I'm clueless about such stuff, so how does one find out?

This link does not seem to be the dangerous type at all. I have regularly visited this site since 2006, and have never found anything wrong. May be GM's setup is hiding this site's link somehow and redirecting to a rogue-site instead.
Dunno, I haven't had any issues with it in the past either. On the AVAST's pop-up, it has a hotlink for reporting it as a 'false positive', so what's this about?

Have/can you open the link in an alternative browser?
I wonder if it's a simple recognition issue with Avast, or if there's a little "bug" in GM's computer.......................
I am far from a computer guru, i can only tell you what i use and see. I use Mozilla Firefox for a browser, i run a utility called "no-script" as well as a tracker "blocker" called "Ghostery".
Ironically, when i click this link it is one of the very few times i can open a page with neither a single script or tracker attempting to load. I think the "FRD" link is exceptionally clean from what i can see.
Even hostboard tries to load a couple trackers, when i open the main page of this forum Ghostery instantly blocks trackers from google analytics, and facebook connect.
I have faced this type of problem once in a while, and the reason was to do with some type of self-unexecutable malware's presence or a similar type of entry in the registry file. I use XP, and had got it corrected by going for a full scan (the off line type, no net I mean) of my setup.Quote:

I stopped using Firefox about 2 years ago.After they kept updating it with tons of bugs it just stopped performing the way I liked.I also tried Ghostery but after noticing a considerable slow down on my PC I uninstalled it.Quote:

Agreed it is it's only problem IMO. I just recently had a problem with photobucket after they decided to change their software.It isn't supported in Opera anymore and I was a Pro account user so now I'm a Flickr Pro user.. True computer geeks use linux. Then one doesn't need to worry about windoze viruses. :)
I amazed at how many home users unknowingly do their day to day work with Admin privies turned on. So I always recommend setting up a non-priveleged user name and do all the mundane stuff from it. Then only use Administrator for things like adding new users, installing new application packages, system upgrades, etc. In a corporate environment, this is SOP, and has been for many years.
Back when I used to use WNT4, I got a virus like that. I found its files in my System directory. But it was smart enough to know when I would try to move them to the trash. It would rename itself to something else. So I used the cygwin shell and removed the files. Problem solved. And yes, for some reason I can not remember, I had given myself Admin privies "just for a few minutes", then forgot that I had done so and left them on....Quote:

FWIW, I can access the site on my own, but still can't use the link here without getting the malware block. Also, I started having problems with DIYaudio, so posted my problem and it got fixed, listing the details here: myfilestore redirect / hijack - diyAudio
It seems that many sites were hacked, so wondering if hostboard was one of them.........

I use numerous scanning and removal tools daily to rid computers of nasties. One of the best I can recommend is Malware Bytes Just install, run the update and let it scan. You might need to reboot in safe mode with or without networking to get rid of some things but for the most part this scanner does a very good job. If it fails to remove the issue you can PM me and I will start listing off tools in the order of what I typically will run against a clients computer.
As for being hacked, nothing for quite some time although attempts are made daily. I do have the site completely backed up and the database is backed up and downloaded to my desktop daily. So even if hacked we can restore pretty quickly and easily with minimal looses.
