Vinnie with Chaka Khan BET Jazz DVD
Vinnie with Alejandro Sanz Unplugged DVD
Zildjian Day New York VHS
Sting Unplugged, Soul Cages live VHS
Randy Jackson Bass instructional video VHS
That's what comes to mind at the moment for mass market Vinnie,I am sure to be missing something, tons of stuff on the bootleg circuit.
-
Hmmm...I've never seen the Randy Jackson one. Any good?
-
See I knew I would forget to pivotol vids.
The Randy Jackson is ok, Vinnie appears towards the end of it, the majority of the drumming is done by Jonathon Moffitt. It's worth just for Jackson alone, great bass player.

paradiddle, I think gamdem has copies of all those videos you're favoring.
JUST KIDDING!!! Someone had to revive his name.
I had to edit this post so as not to offend gamdem!!!
LOL, ooops, I meant, paradiddle...

I've got a Vinnie video from the 80's- Red Yamaha Kit, big glasses, mustache w/a bass player. I thought it was Jeff Berlin. It was a clinic of some kind. A guy from the crowd asked about odd signatures and Vinnie quickly started playing on the rim of his tom. He was wearing sneakers. Is this the Randy Jackson video? Also there is the Hollywood Bowl video w/Sting--the birthday concert when Andy Summers makes an appearance on Every Breath.
-
That is Tim Landers on bass, same bass player in the Zildjian video. The Randy Jackson video is a bass instructional video. Steve Farris, Vinnie and Jon Moffett. The Hollywood Bowl concert is great, I have the whole concert from PayPer view, very kewl because they interview the whole band before the show and there is some kewl backstage footage and a funny gag by Stings wife Trudy.
-
FYI, Randy Jackson is the same cat whom is judging American Idol. Played with Jean Luc Ponty, Journey, Mariah, The Warriors, Tom Coster among many many others.
-
Don't forget Joni Mitchell "Refuge of the Roads" VHS with Michael Landau; guitar, Russel Ferrante; keyboards and Larry Klein on bass. Vinnie is burning on this one. I am still waiting for a DVD release of this concert. Jean-Paul, the Netherlands.
-
don't forget Vinnie on the MD Festival Video/DVD.
-
..don't forget the Ten Summoner's Tales 'recording 'video with Sting - most of the footage of Vinnie is not really matched visually with the soundtrack, with the notable exception of Seven Days. I guess there's no way they could patch in video footage with the stuff he lays down, and I just thank the wisdom of whoevever had the taste to feature Vinnie quite comprehensively on this one - I wonder who's decision this was? This track is definitely WYSIWYG..and worth the price of admission alone just for this one track. There's also the 'Summoner's Travels' video - mentioned in other posts. and I also have a Zildjian Days VHS tape, with lots of extracts from various Zildjian Days, including a 4-5 minute clip from Scotland in '94 with an atrocious sound, and, it feels like Vinnie was not in the best mood.at this particluar gig? Anybody got any more on this

JohnnyDrum....I was at that Zildjian Day in Scotland, 1994....incredible lineup - Keith LeBlanc, Will Calhoun, Vinnie, and Tony Williams...Vinnie did seem a little off that day (mood-wise, not playing-wise); first of all he was late, then during his solo he dropped a stick which seemed to piss him off....afterwards, while pacing the stage and chain-smoking, he apologized for his solo, saying that it worked for him on the pad backstage but not during the performance...I think he was extra nervous because Tony was there...

I believe this is the performance he talked about in Talking Drums magazine where he said all he'd been doing before the gig was programming for Sting and he hadn't played the kit much at all for a couple months, thus he was "out of shape."
