what you guys think about the new civics? (stricktly off topic...) the 4 doors are hurting man...honda engineers need to get off the dust. on the other hand... the new si is pretty dope huh...the shifter is all rallyed out coming out the center console and all. but whats the deal with the babyfood- inspired colors? i'll keep my 4th gen over the new joints anyday, cause man, you just can't polish a turd ya know

Yeha, WTF is up with all these "new" cars looking like the focus. I hate the focus! honda needs to rethink where their market is at. This car weighs roughly 2700 lbs!Put a B16a in one of our light 4th gens and watch it run circles around this POS. I hate the new civics. PERIOD!

Yea, but lets be a little more fair and swap the 2002 civic engine with one from a wreaked RSX type-S and tranny(6-speed) There! Even! But yea, I don't think I like them, but they may be growing on me?
ok ok, but these hatchbacks shown are civic Si's. They already have the i-vtec with 160hp and constant variable valve timing. If you were to use the type-s engine, that would be 200hp and no longer a compotition. I still stand by that a 4th gen civic with a B16a will beat a brand new civic Si, both have 160hp, but the 4Gs have a hell of a lot less weight for a hatch. The B16a also does not have the advantage of the new i-vtec system. The B16a v-tec kicks in later compared to v-tec being constant on the i-vtec engine. The i-vtec also has a .2 liter difference. Does anyone else think that the standard i-vtec engine should be pushing a little more power? i do anyway, just some tech jibberish for ya'll. If anyone has any descrepensies with what i've said, please correct me!

i hate to say it, but other than the fact that it's a HONDA, there's really no other reason i would choose a 02 civic si over the 02 focus SVT. the sVT has more power, more torque, a larger engine, and in my humble opinion, looks better than the si. but if i were going to spend 20K on a new car, i'd opt for a few years old low mileage teg type R, or wait awhile for the RSX type R. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif

you guys seem to be stuck on the HP issue.
what about the handling abilities?
it has a incredibly stiff chassis, the CTR suspension, AND electric power steering, which has been said to provide incredible steering feel, and not rob hp due to no steering power pump.
realise people that this is not a hot rod, not a piece of detroit steel, and deff not a sports car. its a "sporty" economy car.
and with the focus allready having a recall, and with honda's reliability, id take that "baby food inspired" colored car.

nawoj- I couldn't agree more with what you said. The car is gonna just as good if not better than previous civics due to the shocks being derived from the CTR, the stiffest chassis ever for a civic, and I learned the new macphearson struts allowed honda to play with the suspenion geometry so the front wheels can stay flatter on the ground. For brakes, its the first Si with ABS, nuff said really.
In power, yea I still think it could use either a bit more Hp or torque. Reason is because for the same price you less you can pick up a SVT or SER with alot more to offer.
What I don't like is the sheer weight of the thing, 2700lbs...lord, thing can probaly run head on into a ford excurison and live hehe.
But its got honda quailty ( I read a review on a prototype SVT...the car was falling apart on the editors they had to get another one). And as mentioned its got niffy things like eletric steering and the rally shifter to make drving the new Si a bit more pleasureable. I say lets wait and see...personally...i'm waiting for this bad boy to come over hehe

i read that the 02 civ had a 2.0 liter that would be a .4 liter diff from the si we had be4 and whats more i heard all that honda was doing was giving us a type-r civic the only diff is they stole sme ponies and losered rpm red line other than that we r getting th type-r y would it matter ne ways they both look the same and yes i do love that new handling capabilities and if u dont like the puke colours get it painted or buy the black version...how long will it take to get decent mods for the new i-v-tec?..oh well i'll keep my 4 gen. when im done i'll jus spank a 7 gen ne how

Greddy turbo kit for the RSX, suppose to be close to 300hp at least. HKS had a pic of theirs too someplace. Both kits will be out shortly.

Keep in mind some companies had a head start when working on this motor (S2000, still a K20 but lacks Vtec-i and such). The aftermarket is not sleeping on these cars at all. And I was lookin in import tuner, the power pages section where they dyno cars with basic parts (only part of the mag I really enjoy besides the fine women). And a intake and catback on a RSX-S got 21hp...sounds crazy but they had the dyno sheets to back it up and its not like they treated that RSX any differntly from any other car. So the new motor isn't that bad of a deal (its got torque woooot!!!)

From what I've heard about the new EX Civic's, people who've bought them cannot do anything with them. All mods just don't respond. I think this was in reference to Intake and Exhuast.
Now the new I-VTEC for the Civic, who knows what it will take to rechip these things? As most people already know...people who buy ITR engines were not running OBDII because it held back so much....they were buying fuel management systems or rechipping P30 ECU's with Spoon and Mugen Programs to run them. ...Basically, how long will it take to get performance programs and fuel management for these new engines? The only thing I can think of is Fuel Management - TECII, Superpro....those things.
And these engines are completely different - Direct fire, no distributor, no power steering - electrical, different oil pans, Engine Mounts and mount brackets completely different, ...looking at the EX D17A..that thing is completely different. Almost doesn't even look like a Honda because not much is familiar on the engine.
I hope someone crack's that ECU and make programs....and that would Greddy introduce a Turbo Kit for these models.

But there's the AEM link picture. Looks like they removed some stuff. Nitrous manifold setup, Cold Air Intake, Underdrive Pulleys, Fuel Rail, Billet Anodized Plug Cover, and probably some more I can't see from this angle.

What I wonder is how did they fit that turbo down behind that engine? I wish there was an acura dealer nearby!! Damn! I thought those macpherson arm bars mounts would interfere with the downpipe from the turbo or there would be really bad heak soak or something back there! There's almost no room from the look of it.

I bet those new RSX base models have 4x110 lug patterns and the Type-R/S are 5-lug accord pattern. Anybody know for certain. That would make one hell of an upgrade.
