what would be the ideal engine swap??

ive read a lot of pros and cons about different swaps for our 4gens.. so know i wanna know your opinions on what would be the best swap and why?

of all the b series motors which would make the most ideal swap for a daily driven hatch regardless of money. its all about which is the best and why (fact or opinion). horsepower, durability, fabrication, hood clearance, suspension problems (caused by size or weight) any info and feedback will be greatly appreciated!! i just wanna know what would be the best for my car from people who know first hand...all you 4th gen owners

Best bang for the buck as far as b series motors go is the b16a. It has no hood clearance problems and costs alot less than a b18c or c5. The b18a is another good choice if you want the extra torque or want a great platform to add a turbo to. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif The other b series motors are just too expensive and cause some clearance issues in the small bays in our civics and rexes. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

i went b18a because of the torque i was told u had to rev the b16 to high before u got the 160 hp out of them an the b18a is a monster took me awhile to get used too when i first got it back i drove it a couple feet an was like damn pulled over an put my seatbelt on i dont think u can go wrong with a b series swap

The 1st gen B16A is absolutley the best motor to be swapped into our cars if you want a fast Civic.. But if you didn't I wouldn't think that you'd be inquiring about a swap..

Anyway.

<LI> Its got 160 freakin' HP
<LI> Nice trannys
<LI> Lots of aftermarket
<LI> NON-OBD

I'm talking about the 1st gen B16A here only.. The 2nd gens are twice the price and more.. The B18 non-VTEC is a nice swap too, but still more money than the B16A, and it has OBD. The B18C and C5 are nice motors, but really overpriced if you just know how to do a simple build on a B16A. B20 lacks the good aftermarket yet and is rather low HP, or high maitenance if you add VTEC.. Same goes for LSVTEC. H22A is pretty much out of the question, although a very nice choice for 5th and 5th gens.. Cheap and very high HP. ZC is nice if you want a bit of cheap speed, but if you want 13s, then B16 is a better choice. Just forget about D series SOHC motors all together. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/tongue.gif

All ya need to do is buy a USDM motor from Cali. Get a B18a from a teg and swap it in, that way you can say I don't know why it faild I got it from a Cali car look.
