I was wondering what ya 4G hatch run in a 1/4 mile. I have a 89 dx hatch 5spd with intake an full exhaust gutted interior with short shifter havent ran it yet. also can a Dx run 15's or low 16's in a 1/4 mile wit bolt-ons not swapping with a good driver. thanx

Factory SiR w/B16A = 15.4 (Honda claims 15.3 but I haven't been able to get it). My average is 15.6.

Hmm lets see a 160hp B16 runs 14.4 and a SOHC VTEC 125hp runs 14.0.......hmmmm sounds fishy, just wondering you didnt use a GTech did you?

well...I know this was a Q about hatches :-P - but my sedan ran 18.078 @ 74 - bone stock with no mods and only the spare tire and jack removed. Since then I have added a fresh fuel filter (must allow at least 10 HP http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif) and a CAI.
And I am sure you ran 14.0 with a d16z6 - how come there always has to be one smart-ass to foul up a question?
Now if you could back up your claim with an explanation we wouldn't be bad-mouthing you.

Just as a matter of interest - how the hell are you guys getting 14.4s with a standard B16A. My SiR can't weigh much more than your Si etc? It weighs in at 1030kg. Have you guys got IHE and cams or something?

Setanta, well to answer your question my only mods are, cai, no muffler, ecu upgrade, and no seats but driver. So i actually am a lot lighter than you since i was a dx to start off with. Another thing to look at is that since my car didn't come with b16a i have aftermarket mounts, which decrease wheelhop giving me an advantage of traction over you.
Also how are your 60 fts. lookin?? I've noticed that it is the greatest and most important factor at the track unless you misshift. Any more questions just post them.

haha!! now all that SiR genuine extra power goodie stuff is coming back to haunt ya!! just kiddin man..but seriously..my si has no power windows, no power steering, no AC..it's an 89, so i have to be at least 200 pounds lighter than you. does anyone know how much setanta's car weighs in pounds? what's the conversion?

Well mine had a shaved head exhasut and 14lb flywheel.
Mine is an Si, but it has no options at all, no a/c no power steering. Plus your car has power window, locks, a/c, p/s.

Heheh - I was wondering about that, I'm guessing there is a good 7-10 bhp loss to the power steering and alternator/air-con belts.
I'm too gutless to really put the boot in at launch - usually drop it at 4500, once at 5500. Plus my reaction times are shocking. The car's used for supersprints, motorkhanas and hillclimbs more than anything else http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Well it depends all on your style do you like to feather, or just pop the clutch.
Here are a few techniques:
I say For the b16a find your best launch point at the track where you don't have wheel hop... traction doesn't matter. Then let's just say 4800, pop the clutch and if you start to lose traction feather the gas just for a split second and then floor it, by then you should have full traction and be good to go.
Another way which is harder but if mastered will work better is to feather the clutch. Launch at like 6700-7000 and when you lose traction push the clutch in just a bit and let go until you gain traction while flooring the gas.
