dont know if thats the "term" but when my cars idling, it seems to rev on its own. well as far as i think it is (i have a DX, so i have no tach)
a friend said its the fuel injection.
another problem is when im at a light, as soon as i gas it when it turns green, there seems to be a slight hesitation in "movement" (it feels like im pressing on the gas and the car doesnt move) then suddenly the car just goes. btw. my car is auto.
any reasons why my car is doing this weird things????
..damn dx

get some fuel injection cleaner... costs like 3-5 bucks at an auto store. I'm having the same problems right now. I just bought some and put it in, so I'll let ya know if itt works better later on...

ive used that before. and it seems like a temporary solution. i think theres more into it.
does the o2 sensor have anything to do with it?
im not a mechanic so im just curious...

My cars been playing up, when I was idling it would seem like the engine drops rpms then picks up again to where it should so it sounds and feels like my cars reving, low then high etc.

ok,,,
so i f'd with the idle air screw...and got the surging problem ....then when i set the screw back to factory settings the surging went away..
alot of people said this problem had to do with the o2 sensor but when i removed mine and check the resistance across the plug it ws all good..
even compared to a new bosch unit i put in just cause.

just curious..is your car an automatic?

A surge in rpm could be caused by a vacuum leak. You could check the map senser by linking a vacuum guage to a vacuum line in the map senser. Then start the car. If you show under 17 pounds of pressure you probably have a leak in a vacuum line(17 to 22 is normal, 16 and up could be a leak). From there I would replace all the vac. lines. That is how I fixed my friends Prelude, but I found the leaking hose right after I did the pressure test. Vacuum lines tend to start dry rotting after 10 years.

i read up above in the original post that the car IS an automatic..the problem you're having at red lights sounds to me like your tranny is slipping out of gear at lights and then when you hit the gas at first it just revs then catches? if that's the case, try adding tranny fluid and looking for a leak somewhere. look under the car for pink liquid that smells like syrup.

actually BenL, at a light, when i press the gas teh engine doesnt rev. I meant, i would step on the gas and the car would not move or rev and after the car would move (after a second or so)
ive added tranny fluid so i sure its not that.
the previous replies, ive understand what you guys are talking about but have no idea how to do it..

hmm..does it ever stall out? sounds like either something is gummed up in the fuel delivery system or a vacuum leak somewhere..it's hard to say without testing some stuff. when's the last time you changed the fuel filter or ran injector cleaner through? i don't know much about the d15..but can the carbuerator be cleaned on this motor?

To check for a vacuum leak this is what you need to do:
-Get a vacuum guage.(hardware store or Autometer makes one<if you want to turbo later I suggest this> .
-Get a "T" fitting that fits the map senser hose(Hardware store 89cents)
-Cut a vacuum line in half on the map senser and connect them back together with the "T" fitting, and put the vac. guage on the 3rd point of the fitting.
When finished replace cut hose with a new one.
