hey new to this board got a 88hb just droped it off at ellis racing for a b18a swap anybody ran up against a b18a

Yeah, there is a guy that a bunch of us know that runs a b18a turbo civic hatch. It is really really quick. I don't know the exact specs but it is quick. As for a non-turbo b18a I would say it is going to be quicker than a zc due to the torque but I don't think it will be as quick as a b16. ever shop i went to talked me out of the b16 says u really dont see the 160 hp until your high in the rpm an said the b18a was better for turbo an said the tourque was more imporant than that extra 20hp what u guys think

plus you get more dispacement with the 1.8
and the ls trans is better for turbo longer gears and easyer to tune for turbo

the reason i went w/ b16 rather than b18 is cuz the b16s were actually made for our cars..the siRs came w/ b16s stock, therefore handling and fitment aren't issues. i don't like the idea of having a motor in my car that wasn't designed for my car. but good luck w/ your swap..how much are you paying for the b18 if you don't mind me asking?

Hey 91zc, you wouldnt be talking about joel would you? Cause he has a hatch with that setup and i saw him race a guy with a 2000 Si turbo on one of our race nights and joel beat him! The guy with the Si was only running like 5 psi, but still!

That would be him. I remember when he was running a turbo zc awhile back, but now he has moved on to the b18a. Do you what kind of setup he is running??

Last time he popped the hood for me, he had the B18a with the turbo, and the usual. I didnt see anything out of the ordinary, but that was like 6 months ago probably. He never pops his hood at our race nights http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif I dont know if you have, but have you ever heard of a mechanic by the name of Hai Doa(pronounced HI Dow) hes a vientamiese(sp*) guy that is really cool and has an MR2 how car that is crazy! I think joel works at the garage next to him.

i paid 2750 for the b18a the b16 was 3150 i wanted the b 16 but i was like i'll do the frank swap but im hearing they could be trouble if not done right
