I just put a new/used 1.5L engine with 40K in my car a couple weeks ago & today my car died 3 times!
then went to my mechanic & he said it maybe my fuel pump or my injection. I told him I wanted to start modifying my car. He said it's not worth it bc my DX is too old and it's not design to be modified.
He said I'd need to change my transmission/chip/bla,bla,bla... He said I'd be better off buyig a vtec honda with lots of power.
But I LOVE MY DX! He said I'll have lots of problem & waste my money.
So what are your opinions? I know you all guys modified yours and they look DAMN GOOD!

It all depends on how quick you want it to be and how much money you want to spend.

He is right the dx does not like to be modified. You could do a swap up to the D16A6 motor out of the 88-91 civic at the very least. This motor will mod much easier. There are alot of swaps out there, here is a list of what I can think of:
b16a-jdm civic/crx sir, integra xsi-160hp
b18a-usdm 90-91 integra-130 hp
b18c1-usdm integra gsr-170 hp
b18c-jdm integra-180 hp
b18c5-integra typer-205 hp for the jdm version
d16z6-usdm 92-95 civic ex/si-127 hp
b20-jdm and usdm versions from the crv ???
ZC- jdm 88-91 civic Si-130 hp
b18b-integra ls-142 hp
d16a6-usdm 88-91 civic/crx si-108 hp

I was thinking of doing my car like in a 3-5 years period. I was thinking of swapping a 1.6ZC like some people suggested, but then I'd have to rebuilt my transmission, right?

If you did swap your motor for a ZC i would get a Si transmission. You could use your DX but you would benefit more for a Si.

I had a ZC but it bit the dust on me. I am now selling it to a guy on this board. I now have the b16a and I am almost finished swapping it. The b16a was suprisingly not that hard to swap. I used the Hasport mount kit, linkage, and wiring harness. I installed a clutchmasters clutch, water pump, timing belt, thermostat, new belts and hoses, plugs and wires, cap and rotor, new radiator, and removed the ac. I got my full swap from www.hondamotorsonline.com and I am pretty happy with it. It looks good but I have to see how it runs. it cost me 1550 shipped to my door. This included the motor, transmission, ecu, and axles along with a whole bunch of other things. I have spent about 2700 for everything I have listed and some other odds and ends.
As for the 1.6 ZC you can use your dx transmission on it. But you might want to think about getting the Si or ZC trans.

first off, i would find another mechanic http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif. one more TUNED (hehehe, i know...stupid pun) into imports.

If you want to stay with the DX, swap the Si fuel injection onto your motor. And then you sould throw on a vtec head and stuff like that. You could make it fast if you really wanted too. It would be different

for me personally...it seems everyone is doing the b16 or ZC so i'm going a different route. i had a spare (d16a6 Si) head rebuild & reground acompanied with a DC sports header, AEM cam gear,(100% real) carbon fiber intake, and axel-back exhaust.
next step will be a fuel rail and pressure regulator. i also want to have a bottom end rebuilt with bigger rods and pistons. and have it all topped off with my ECU reprogrammed for all the mods.
finally i am considering going with turbo. i'm really not going for just all speed. it's more for the fun of mods and to make the car more fun to drive. i get into a street race every now and again but, it's not like i go to a track.
thanks to a little fender bender all the engine mods are on hold. but, on the brighter side i'm sticking a full WW kit on my car (next week, wa-hoo! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)

you should find a local shop that can help you convert your stock 1.5 intake manifold to the SI's 1.6 mainfold with 4 injectors. You'll need the new intake manifold 'with injectors and harness' and the SI ecu.
This actually makes and big different and i recommend it. you'll be impressed =] plus you'll be able to use a aftermarket air intake.
