CivicR has graciously placed a video of my car on his website.
During the last ~5 seconds or so, you can distinctly hear the wobble that I am talking about (while the car is decelerating). All suggestions are welcome.
Please take a minute and see if you guys know what is causing this noise.

The waah-waah-waah sound is exactly what I'm talking about.
I have taken care of a couple repairs recently, but the sound originated quite a while ago. I really can't trace it back to any one thing that I did.
What mods/repairs have you done recently... or better yet, did you make any changes to the car and the sound immediately followed ??? I heard no really loud noise... only the "whaah whaah whaah whaah" sound as you slowed.
could it be a bad wheel bearing under the load of braking ?
bent axle maybe ?
what about the bearing that is inside the haft-shaft ?
did you run over something or hit anything hard that you can think of ?
have you driven your car though deep water in the recent past ?

Hmm. . . never even considered the wheel bearing. In the vid, the car is coasting and not breaking. Don't know if that would make any difference.
You know though, I DO hit some hard bumps sometime. In fact, just recently (about 1 mo. ago), I changed out my left front shock b/c it was blown.
How would I go about checking the bearings?
Actually. . . I might have to eliminate the wheel bearing theory. My car makes the same noise at the same rpm while sitting at idle.
hmmmmmmmmmm .... well .. if it still makes the noise when the car is sitting still... you can eliminate the entire rolling chassis ... you have to think in terms of what is moving when the noise is present... if the noise is present even at a idle ... whats the only thing moving ?
the engine ... the electric fan possible ? ...
look for anything that might be rubbing up against the pulleys ... or something that might be rubbing against any part of the engine for that matter ... I had an electric fan that went bad in my car ... it made a funky noise before it died ....
What exactly is the RPM that the noise is present ?
Could it be a loose windage tray in the oil pan ? [img]confused.gif[/img]
the only time I heard the noise in the video was upon deceleration ....
does it make the same exact noise upon acceleration ?
is it possible to see and hear a video of your car making the noise at an idle ?

Icopas. . . I'll take a vid of the car making the noise at idle this weekend. I'll just rev it and hold it at a higher rpm, so you guys can hear the noise. Hopefully someone can host it (I can email it to someone).
It does make the same noise during acceleration. I was saying earlier that the noise starts at around 4500 rpm, but actually, I've noticed it even earlier (around 4000 rpm).

Are you braking? I warped mine, which is easy to do if you get the brakes real hot and then get water on them.
that was my first thought - warped brake rotors - thats sure what it sounds like - but it has been posted that the car makes the same sound standing still ... that eliminates brakes - rotors - or any part of the rolling chassis ..
I thinking something internal in the engine - or something is rubbing the pulleys maybe ...
Nope. Wasn't braking in the vid.
maybe something in the tranny ?
clutch plate ? throw-out bearing ? flywheel ?
I replaced my stock clutch ~15,000 miles ago with an ACT HDSS. Stock flywheel (resurfaced?).
can you localize the sound with a long screw driver? - use the screw driver like a stethoscope ... hold one end to an area on the engine and then put your ear on the end of the handle ... you would be surprised how well this works .. just be very carful where you place the screw driver before you put the handle end up to your ear ...
What about the PS pump ? ...
When the bearings in the pump start to go bad - they can make a whirling sound ....
just a thought ...
real hard to diagnose a noise via hostboard ...

Great suggestions Icopas. I checked around with a screwdriver today. Here's what I found.
Collector are of header - some noise, no wobbling (maybe due to exhaust gases)
Header-cat connection - some noise. . . minimal. can hear a little wobbling, but sounds far off.
oil pan - no noise
tranny - no noise
Well, this morning I replaced the donut gasket between the header and the cat. I'll drive it around later and see if it made any difference.
I found a separate rattling sound that I've been looking for. It's either coming from the resonator or the muffler. Maybe it's related to the wobbling noise? Will get both of these checked out when I bring it to the muffler shop on Tuesday.
Finally, I took some pictures of my axle today. I don't exactly know what the part is called, but there is a black rubber boot. There seems to be some sort of leakage coming from them. I don't know if this is normal or not. There are grey splatter marks where I believe the grease/oil from inside the boot came out.
I have a friend that will host my vids and pictures. When he gets those up, I will post the link. I'm glad I'm finally making some progress! Whew!

Question for you...does your tach move around also with the noise??...how about the boost/vacuum guage...does that move at all??

CivicR, no my tach does not move around. There is no reaction from either my A/F gauge or my vacuum/boost gauge.
Sounds like you have a bad bearing on an accessory being driven by the engine.
OR ... do you have the drive belt for the SC excessivly tight ?
Do you have any of the belts too tight ?
Sounds like a bearing on either the SC or the alternator too tight or bad.
If I remember correctly - I had the belt on my SC too tight and it made a noise too.
BTW - get that axle checked too ! ... you may have more than one thing making a noise ...
My car is in service now. They've already checked out the axle. Looks like I have oil leaking from both, and one has a cracked boot. Acura's recommendation, of course, is to replace both (cost: $230/each).
I'll try to get that taken care of ASAP. Hopefully the sound will be solved tomorrow.
Does anyone know of a good place to get axles? I've never replaced axles before. What are my options? Remanufactured? Performance axles?
Remanufactured axles are just gonna end up snapping or breaking on you. So many fiends of mine have gotten so many headaches over Rebuilt?s it?s just not worth it. I would suggest Brand New OEM or Competition Engineering, which are GUARANTEED not to break.
I guess some things are going well for me.
The WHOLE axle doesn't need replacing. The CV boots need to be repacked though. So I'm having that done early next week or this weekend.
Just changed out the alternator today. Sound at idle is gone. Will take it for a test drive in a day or two.
Slowly, I think all my problems are being fixed. . .
