If a movie was made about Nightcrawler, who would you want on the soundtrack? What artists? What genres? If I had it MY way, the whole thing would be filled w/ U2 songs!
Here's a few that I thing are very Nightie-ish: "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me", by U2; "Nobody Lives Without Love", by Eddi Reader; "Lucky", by Bif Naked; "One", "Take a Picture" by Filter; "4 Seasons of Loneliness", by Boyz II Men; "If God Will Send His Angels", by U2; "Hands od Death", by Alice Cooper & Rob Zombie, among others.
I dunno, but rock and roll, something a little bit gothic sounds perfect for Nightcrawler (maybe 'cuz of his personality, his history, his appearence, etc.).
What do you guys think? Lemme know!

Okay, you're scaring me. I was just listening to U2 earlier on the radio and it made me think of Nighty. Gaahhh!
Obsessed much? Naw, not me!
I like your idea. Great minds think alike.

I like to think of the Mission Impossible theme. Not the old one but the newer one with the bass guitar. That's Nighty music to me.
-
Mission impossible is always a nice one, and the one from Hawaii 5-0 always does the trick too. One of my more personal favourites is the track "Sneakin'out of the Hospital" on the last Beastie Boys album. I don't think anyone knows this one, but it's so ...sneaky... I just have to mention it.
As for songs, Eels still stands. Fits like a glove.

I thought I might have started something with this thread! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Anybody here like BOWIE?! My older brother getting me hooked on David Bowie, & two of Bowie's songs "I'm Deranged" & "I'm Afraid of Americans" works *beautifully*. Very Nighty-ish.
That, & "Is Your Love Strong Enough" by Bryan Ferry (from the "Legend" sndtrk.) works. It has kind of a swashbuckling feel to it.
I kinda of made this thread up 'cuz I like to listen to music when I write stories, and, seeing as how I have a few Nightcrawler stories in mind, I wanted to find some songs that would fit his personality.
That being said ... ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS?!!

There's a couple Bowie songs that I like. Don't know the titles so I'll just call them by the lyrics. One is "We can be heroes" He has a rendition in German that sounds pretty good. Kinda makes me think of the elf a little. The other is something like "You're face to face with the man who sold the world". Not really Nighty related, but I really like it. Been a while since I've listened to Bowie. Might have to scrounge around for that anthology CD.
-
I used to be one of the worst possible Bowiefans once...I still kinda like him! He did some appropriate stuff too, yup!

For some reason the Metallica version of Whiskey in a Jar springs to mind:
I first produced my pistol
And then produced my rapier.
I said, "Stand and deliver,
Or the devil, he may take you!"
------------------
Essence of Elf: "BAMF- Kick it up a notch!"
-
Whoa ... y'think Metallic was reading an X-men or Excalibur comic before writing that?

Actually, Whiskey in the Jar is an old (Irish?) folksong. Metallica is just one of the bands that have redone the song. But I do understand what you're saying Lamia. That song fits perfectly (at least in my mind)!

I'm sorry, but I am sooooooo completely utterly sick of U2. It's hardly good music, in my opinion, at least the new stuff. "Beautiful Day" has to be my most hated song right now. URGG!!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif I hate U2 with a passion. "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" is the only song I like by them at all, and I love it. The rest...well, I could assassinate Bono for them. Part of it is Blink182itis, I'm sure, but most of it is just that they're terrible. I respect most bands as musicians, but UGHHHH U2 sucks.
Okay, rant over.
-
Hey, you're alive! And pissed too I see. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/tongue.gif
I like a lot of U2's stuff. I liked it better back when it came out than I do now, and that new song is just getting driven into the ground. But that happens with a lot of groups. Like Creed.
-
I used to like U2 but they have gotten too commercial. My absolute favorite tune of their's is Sunday Bloody Sunday. And there's a few others I really love. But none of the stuff theyve done in the last few years has been very good. They are a band who's day is over.
-
Hey, fellow elf-lovers! I'm skipping out for 2 weeks on vacation, but please, keep responding to the post.
AND NO MORE U2 BASHING!!!!! (*ahem* I wanted to know what music you thought would suit Nightcrawler, not whether or not U2's plane has flown.
....
Okay, that was just _lame_ ...)
Later!

*throws darts at a picture of Bono* What?? No u2 Bashing!?!? Awwwww! You're no fun!!!
Anyway, the music I'd pick would be some trance/techno-ish stuff for the fight scenes, and I'd let Danny Elfman do the rest. He's the genius behind all the music in most Tim Burton films, as well as the Simpsons theme and a buncha other stuff. That way you get kinda clasical sounding, but still very original and fitting. Danny Elfman rules! ((P.S. Anyone else appreciate the coincidental appropriateness of his name?))
-
Elfman is THE man! love his stuff!I've seen him live several times and ya know ,he and Nighty have really similar expressions sometimes.
huh, mayhaps its jus' the name!
this board rules!

-
I really like Mr. Elfman's stuff!
He even kicked ass in his band, Oingo Boingo.
(Though I didn't always care for his lyrics)
D'dya know Danny Elfman wrote the entire score to "The Nightmare Before Christmas" including the words, plus he provided Jack Skelington's singing voice?
He's a talented guy...
-
For general background music, Delerium (Industrial-Trance). Early U2 (Josua Tree was the latest worth listing to.) The rest custom by D. Elfman swounds like a winner.
BamfKat
-
I forgot! For the bar scene with Logan: Defense and Desire by Blues Traveller.
BamfKat
"But I won't regret
The air is thick and wet
Defense and desire..."
-
I'm baaaaaaaack!! And I have more song suggestions!
"Deep", by Nine Inch Nails, "Terra Firma", by Delerium, "Song of Life", by Leftfield, "Edge Hill", by Groove Armada, "Angel", by Sarah McLachlan, "Iris", by Goo Goo Dolls, "Heroes", by the Wallflowers (haven't heard the orginal Bowie version yet), "Undercover", by Joey Deluxe, "I Grieve", by Peter Gabriel, "True Colors" & "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins, "My All", by Mariah Carey (the only song of hers that I like, really), "My Dark Life", by Elvis Costello, and maybe "Du Hast (You Hate)" by Rammenstein. I had more to write, but it's 12:02 @ night right now, & my eyes are startin' to hurt!

Hm...theme music...uhhh...For some odd reason, when I see Kurt, I think of 'I'll be there for you' by the Rembrants (yes, it's the Friends theme song)and the theme to Indiana Jones. C'mon! It's perfect Nightcrawler theme! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
-
Too bad we aren't thinking of music for Ultimate Nightcrawler. Metallica (yes, I really like them) has some early stuff that fits perfectly.
Harvester of Sorrow
"I give
You take
This life that I forsake
Been cheated of my youth
You turned this lie to truth"
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
"Dream the same thing every night
I see our freedom in my sight
No locked doors, No windows barred
No things to make my brain seem scarred
Sleep my friend and you will see
That dream is my reality
They keep me locked up in this cage
Can't they see it's why my brain says Rage"
Of course this stuff could also work for a Wolverine movie, too. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi! I have been to the board before, but this is my first post. Theme music! I like Rammstien. I'd go with Engel (though not in a fight scene, maybe while like driving to a fight or something). I think that means angel in German. For a fight scene, Heirate Mich might be good, but I have no idea what that means in German, and since it IS Rammstien after all, it could mean something kinky. Laibach, Message From The Black Star might work for the Priest version (I don't really care for it, but it doesn't look like it will be going anywhere, so...)of Nightcrawler. Wallflower, Dissolve, Invisible, or Fear by Switchblade Symphony might be good.
-
I don't know how this 'Rammstein' and other's music sound, but this I know:
Engel - angel
heirate mich - marry me
And of course, hello, spookyspice! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
-
Thanks, Gnahrf! I hope I spelled your name correctly. I like a few German bands, even though I have no idea what they're singing about. Du Hast is a good song, too. Oh! David Bowie rules! Those were appropriate songs, everyone who named Bowie songs. Also, about the Switchblade Symphony songs, I meant Dissolve, not Wallflower. It is oh-so-very-hot in New York right now, and my brain is not functioning at it's normal, non-fried level.

Ohhhhh how about Saturday's Alright For Fighting by Elton John. (Rock) That would be really good for a fight scene. Let It Be and Come Together by The Beatles. Well Kurt is a Beatles fan.

I have that CD! $0.99 at Liquidation World... I have the whole damn thing memorized! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/redface.gif
Gee, and here's a topic where Jeff Martin is not entirely inappropriate! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I know no one else has even heard of The Tea Party (have you?) although they are quite popular in Germany, which almost makes it on topic anyway... Anyway, this is the part of "Taking Me Away" that always makes me think of Nightcrawler.
It gives me a line
I cross it
An acrobat graced with skill
Getting your freedom's easy
Surviving is harder still
Strange desires under
Friendly fire
It's all right...
I think it's mostly the acrobat part. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
And maybe "Underground" by Moist... I can't think of anything!
And I just have to say it, I HATE Sarah McLachan's voice.
