Suuure Marvel WHATEVER....what is WRONG with them???
That power grid is a joke! Those numbers are too low.Espeacialy on Intellegence,Speed, agility,Reflexes and FIGHTING ABILITY--wich stated in the trading cards that he was a 7.
Does the guy doing these profiles have ANY knowledge of the character?Or maybe he has it in for Nightcrawler???

If you want proof that it's complete bullshit, compare Kurt's to Logan's. They list Logan's AGILITY as HIGHER than Kurt's! Come on - the only one who's potentially more agile than Kurt is Spider-Man!! And I'm sorry, Logan is NOT more intelligent than Kurt. At the very least, Kurt's less impetuous and more clear-headed. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

We should send emails to Marvel.com and demand they fix it. Sometimes I swear they seem to have it out for the elf.
In fact I see a lot of characters being downplayed here. Colosus was supposed to be very fast (and why does he have a bio, he's dead?) but his speed is rated at only 2. It's just the same old thing, the most popular characters get overrated to appease the fans.

ABSOLUTELY Spatch its the popular characters that are being put on a damn pedistal! As Rex said they made Wolvie more agile AND intellegent than Kurt.PLEASE. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
Even Wolverine said(when he fought Kurt as Death)That Kurt was so"flam'in smart".Why do you think Logan chose Kurt to be his chaperone so many times?!? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif

Does this make any sense to anyone??

quote:
His unusual physical characteristics -- including indigo-colored fur, a prehensile tail, pointed ears, fang-like canine teeth, three-fingered hands and two-toed feet -- caused Kurt's mother to abandon her newborn son. Margali Szardos, a sorceress and gypsy queen, discovered Kurt less than an hour after his birth in a small roadside shelter in the Bavarian Alps

It sure doesn't to me.
I really like the picture though.

Clearly, this is what happened: he floated down the stream at the bottom of the waterfall, which happened to be flowing down the Bavarian alps; but this was during the rainy season, and so the stream flooded onto a nearby highway, depositing him in the roadside shelter.
Obviously! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif

Essence of Elf: "BAMF- Kick it up a notch!"
I was trying to figure out why it sounded so familiar to me. I looked around and found out why. That is the same statement they made when they released the bios for 2000. Here is a LINK to what they posted in 2000. This bio was modified around the time that NC came back to join the X-Men.
And I was happy to see the power meter back, but saddened to see such discrepancies in the bios. Logan having such a high agility really amazed me. But maybe they will attribute it to the Mutant baby boom. Heck he grew 3 feet, why not this. But in all I do like the new Marvel. Especially their new slant on giving better previews of upcoming titles. It wont be to long before we see an image of Kurt. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Lemme see if I can get this to work.

[This message has been edited by Spatula Gal (edited July 09, 2001).]
Oh yeah!
Well, they sure did screw him over well, didn't they! Those are horrible stats! Please!
Three bright points though:
I love the picture! The costume is growing on me. Kurt + leather = yum!
http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I love this line:

quote:

Captain Britain led Excalibur in name; in reality, the task fell to Nightcrawler, due to the other hero's incompetence.

LMAO!!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif But, I thought he was the official leader later in the series. During and after Alan Davis' last run.
And it says he's not a full-blown priest yet. There may be hope for him yet.
[This message has been edited by Slartibartfast (edited July 09, 2001).]
Okay just finished reading it. Other than the stats I really liked it. They touched upon facets of Kurt's history missed in previous bios.
Mentioned Kurt briefly lead the X-Men, apparently not well known.
And that Kurt was the heart behind Excaliber. Which he later officially led
This is the first time I have seen these facts mentioned. As for the 3 weak points
1. Stat grid: Everything works for me but the agility. He was written to be the equal of beast. I compared the other X-characters and they seemed correct. Though I haven't had time to go and re-check the cards. Wolverine's bio seems to be the only one who is off, but that could just be me. And the others who feel the same way {reference previous posters}
2. The whole mother abandonment. Well essentially that is what happened. Mystique's baby looked like a demon and the town hunted her down. Fear for her safety she launched the baby over the waterfalls. At least this was revealed in X-Men unlimited #4. If other events occurred, it has not been revealed. Since X Unlim #4, Kurt and Mystique have not had any interaction. So Marvel could be moving away from their relationship. By just avoiding the issue.
3. His dark fur helps him blend in shadows. Okay in a way it does, but it is his connection to the Darkforce Dimension that really has him become invisible in shadows. Or rather distorts light when he is in shadows so he appears invisible. Beast Files.
Other than those 3 points, I think the bio is great. Very concise and to the point. With a few tidbits thrown in.

quote:
Originally posted by BAMFCentral:

That's true. I read right over that one! They mention his connection to the universe when he ports, but not for his invisiblity. Huh.

quote:
Originally posted by Spatula Gal:

HECK YEAH! Logan smarter AND more Agile than Kurt?!? LMAO!!!
Going to make sure to point that out when I mail em. BAMFCENTRAL I agree with you completely. Except for the power rankings ( http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif ) and the (as usual) lack of understanding about his shadow blending should work, that's a pretty good bio!
But those power rankings.....AAARRRGH!!!!
Oh yeah, and I think of all of the new X-costumes, The Fuzzy Elf and Warren's are definitely the best.
BAMF!
Shouldn't swords be listed under Weapons? Just a thought...
Slarti-"Kurt+leather=yum!"
You can say that again! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
Im also glad that they finally aknowledge that Kurt lead the X-Men briefly AND finally put it on record that he was ALWAYS the leader of Excalibur despite what CC has said in past interviews.I have to wonder about this man sometimes(with all due respect, ofcourse).Just like when he insisted Gambit was the leader in his second run but Storm and Jean were calling most,if not all, of the shots! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Yeah Shady they SHOULD.
Heaven forbid Marvel should let on how Multi-talented and formidable Nighty is!
Unless they think that a sword-fighting preist might upset some bible thumpers(Note:Im not stating all religious people are like that).Y'know I cant help but wonder if thats why they downplayed Kurt so much fighting-wise.But that still doesnt explain the low intellgece.

Spatula Gal,
[Does this make any sense to anyone??]
Well, that's the usual story of Kurt's past. Though I'm surprised the Marvel site (and I agree the grid is ridiculous!) didn't say something like "Kurt's been told he was tossed over the waterfall...." because the real events of his birth has never really been completely established and neither Mystique nor Margali are particularly good sources for the truth.
Umm...Since Kurt's rejoining of the XMen, the 6 month break, etc. etc. has he had a chat with Mystique? I have missed a few issues and picked up where Mystique was going to kill off humans with the virus, etc.....Did Kurt make any comments about the whole thing? It drives me nuts that there is never any contact between the two!
Nope, not a peep about Mystique that I noticed. The writers seem to ignore it and so, he ignores it too.
http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
There was the gap and the priest mess, the Neo and then he had that breakdown and left after Colossus died so he hasn't had a whole lot of time in the limelight until his return to Uncanny last month. We'll have to see if it comes up now. I doubt it though.

Hmmm, that's what I was afraid of > http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif
I just picked up the Uncanny today. Strange utterances from Kurt's mouth like "This is not your world, we are.".
Uh....does Kurt now think mutants shouldn't live amongst humans?
Oh, my! A few days back just before marvel launched the new site, I checked it every now and then, so I could see if they had put in a new Nighty picture... And they had! Wow!
I have seen it many times now, but I really like it more each time I see it. But... I still think his Suit (note the capital s) is the best.
I refuse to comment on that power grid, it made me upset http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif the moment I laid my eyes upon it. I just try to forget it, but please - make marvel change it! You would remove a lot of trouble from this mind.
The Pic. Reminds me of a priest who used to attend biker events, black collar/black leather. Cool.
The power grid. Who ever came up with that spends WAY too much time sittin' on his/her @$$. Try some of the moves NC does. He is beyond a world class gymnast and his sword skills are master-class. Now while I like Wolverine (quite a lot) there is no way he is smarter, faster or more agile than Nightcrawler.
And I know how he got from the waterfall to the road side shelter. It was the world's first spontaneous BAMF!
BamfKat
"What was that Smell"
That power grid is rediculous.
I know Nightcrawler's not the most powerful mutant on the planet, but you'd think at least ONE of his traits would break the level 5 mark...
The elf just gets no respect... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif
That made me reaally mad that Kurt wasnt more involved with the "Dreams End" storyline with Sen. Kelly AND MYSTIQUE.You think he'd have SOME involvement or atleast a few words. But there was nothing.Rogue was involved plenty ofcourse!
Oh I agree definately Squuee that line from Kurt irked me as well.Kurt sounds like a seperatist.almost like Magneto there!
But maybe Kurt was just being protective and knew that Jono was probably being used. But I still felt that was too harsh for Kurt.Unless he still didnt completely recover from when he flipped out over Colossus.Remember when he scared that painter and the little girl in Unlimited?Maybe hes still a little bitter. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/confused.gif

Hey there everyone!
Well,I don't know....I suppose the death of the London Morlocks is making him see things differently http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif. Maybe that's the cause of his outburst. Hmmmm.....
That's not so good for a seminary student.
As for Dream's End---Utterly ridiculous that he had nothing to do with the story. It would've made more sense that he went after Mystique to stop her than Remy (though I doubt he would've been out to kill her as Remy had been).
Well, whatever is going on with him, I'm thrilled he's actually playing a major part! FINALLY!

Oh, I think we see his tail wrapped around his problem when he's on the computer. Too much caffiene. It's a killer, I tell ya.
I agree though, he is acting a bit odd. He does get a bit of a mother hen complex with his teammates, but please. Hmmm...unstable elf does not bode well for anybody. Didn't somebody say he would come back as Dark Nighty? Hmmmm....
http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif
Maybe a large part of why Kurt seems to be going overboard with the 'indignation' bit is because Jono's words & actions are striking a pretty big nerve. ("They tried to kill me with a stake!") I admit though that his anger did catch me off gaurd. The attitude kinda gave me flashbacks to Ellis' Kurt from Excalibur.

quote:
Originally posted by Squee22:

DITTO! I am absolutely ecstatic over Kurt being in so much of the last two issues!
BAMF!
Yeah, I got Ellis flashbacks too. I actually liked his Kurt.
I've been thinking about it, and while his reaction was wild, it's not entirely out of character for him. Way back there he quit the circus because he wouldn't allow himself to be exploited in the freak show. Maybe he sees Jono going down that path that he refused to take and it pissed him off and worries him.
BAMF!,Slarti I am starting to accept Kurts behavior more after reading your posts. He was probably being protective over Jono through personal exsperience.Wich I understood.I just thought he was extreme.I guess Kurt is using his ol' tough love attitude. And I loved Ellis' Kurt.I just havent seen it in a while so I guess I was surprised. And Im not complaining one bit that Kurt is getting so much focus, and respect from other teamates. Now if Casey will just have Kurt kick PHYSICAL @$$! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif

it wasn0t so bad, even if they were a bit preachy preachy. But I'm sort of uneasy over the issue anyway, and I didn't really like the art too. And I sure hate the new costume. I think leather is great, but somehow, the way it was drawn, looks very unflattering.
And as for the Marvel site, man, do I miss their forum http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif

Also as Squee said finding all those fried mutants probably didnt help Kurts attitude any.He probably saw it as another mutant massacre wich it WAS.Something he can relate with personaly almost dieing and all.
Usually Im more understanding of Kurts phases.Wich he has a lot.I guess Im just getting confused.Every time I get settled into one of Kurts modes Im yanked into another with little or no transition.I guess Kurt has a right to be moody. After all he IS human. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
Elwing I definately agree that I like the concept of a black leather outfit but it doesnt look right.Kurt wears that thing like a hanger.

Dude. He needs to find a place that will do alterations on that outfit. Or. . .
Option number two: He needs to be drawn so that he fills that costume out.
I admire you guys for being able to (sort of) keep track of all the different versions of Nightcrawler. It gives me a headache if I think about it too long. Isn't that sad?
