(Had to share). I have that wonderful little Bowen designs NC bust,but it's lack of body sort of annoyed me. I figured that if I could make a cast of the head I could make my own body for it. I cast the head, and I bought one of those corny plastic skeleton kits to serve as a basis for the body. Unfortunately it turned out to be on a different scale than the Bowen head, so I decide to make my own head.
So I made the whole figure on the basis of an Airfix skeleton, with thin iron wire to hold it together, and simple white clay on top of it. the fine details where done in Milliput epoxyclay, and the tail was made of the metal wire in an old underwired bra. (sometimes it pays to be a chick). Oh yeah, i used a book on anatomy too. It was fascinating!
it's not fully done yet, but you get the idea. Eat your heart out, mr. Bowen.

For my (and only this far) first creation, I used Nightcrawler as model. What should I else do? But the result was far from our precious elf! He was blue though!
And Elfwing, who/what are you? You have splendid site, draws marvellous and also shapes unquestionably! Your Elf puts Bowens' creation at the bottom of the Atlantic. Nah, I threw away the smurfs. They were really yuckie; the paint on them had gone into some sort of reaction with the PVC they were made of, and they got all sticky and dirty. And they weren't very good to begin with; I never finished their backsides, for one.
But the big NC figure I'm sort of proud of; I'll post some more pics when it's fully finished.

penguins? cool. Can you post a picture? You do these in ceramics? the baked kind? I've tried that in the past, but my stuff always comes apart in the oven for some reason. Therefore I always use this self-hardening clay stuff. But it's never quite as natural as real clay. I love real clay.
