Ah, I think that's the Nighty&Mandy in Limbo story. Also stars Margali and Belasco. I liked it a lot, personally...

BTW, I was at my shop today and saw a back issue of Unlimited with Nighty on the cover. It was 19 I think. Anybody know what this is? I didn't get a chance to look through it.

i know! i know!
in this, kurt went to limbo to rescue margali with the help of amanda but, actually, amanda and margaly switched bodies, and amanda was kidnapped by belasco.
so, kurt go and rescue her, but apparenty belasco was banished, and amanda has to stay in limbo because someone has to keep the things going over there, and she and kurt have to say good-bye for a long long time!
it has a sadly ending, poor kurt!

Well, I'll see if I can get it scanned in this weekend so people don't have to waste money on it...
Honestly, I liked this story better the first time I read it, back in Excalibur #75 when they called it "A Demon Went To Church on Tuesday". Deodato's art is decent in some places, a bit unfinished in others.
But then again, I seem to be critical of most continuity based Nightcrawler stuff at the moment (although Uncanny did seem to slightly improve from last issue...at least from a dialogue perspective...).
Ah well. The Dazzler lead-in is at least mildly amusing.

I got tat Unlimited with Margali and Nightcrawler signed by Raab!

So who read this? I heard the pencils were great, but as Darkholme said, the plot was, um, familiar. Anyone agree, disagree? My comics store moved 45 minutes away, so I can no longer grab stuff the day it comes out. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Did I mention that the appearance of Longshot in the last frame of that Daz story nearly killed me? Never could stand the guy! Poor, poor Michael Jackson. And Blob. And Hank. And Nighty. And Hulk. And everyone else. LOL.
Sorry, that story really tickled my funny bone. But the Deodato one was great too.(Talk about putting the fear of god in people!)
The last story was a little all too silly. Somehow it reminded me of early Cockrum work though, so it's forgiven.

How can you not like that?

*falls of chair*
Sorry, just that the pic is sooo coool!!
I don't know why you're so negative on this one. Okay, it's not the most original story, but it was well written, and the art was great. I think it's some of the best Crawlerstuff ever. Okay, that's taste for you...

**can someone answer me, why Nighty seems to dislike keeping his mouth closed? **
Hm, well, there already seems to be a recent phenomenon arising in which our dear elf has taken to the habit of appearing with his mouth open.
Must be that either those fangs are just too uncomfortable to have your mouth closed, or the creators of the comics are starting to like showing them off. (I know if I had 'em, I would!)
*Thinking on my own fangs - the ones I imagine I might have had if things were a wee bit different in life.*
Yah! I think you're right crwlr - I would probably have my fangs on display all days (and nights for that instance) long ... hmmm ... but I would also walk much more on walls and do a lot more of those funny yogas! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Maybe he opens his mouth a lot because he has a lot to say lately?

You all must be thinking up Churchill's rendition of the elf in uncanny. I don't see Kurt with his mouth opened excessively in the Gift. In fact he's got some really nice facial expressions in this story.
I think it's cool to see NC in some of these scenes looking like he's in a rage! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/cool.gif We never get to see this side of his character. Kinda adds to his dimensionality.
Personally the mouth thing doesn't bother me. Closed mouths would. Perhaps this is just another interpretation of how they think NC would look like when he speaks. Just a thought! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Always watching from the shadows...
What did everyone think of the Dazzler story? I thought it was hilarious!
I thought the Dazzler story was beyond funny! Who can NOT like the great cameos!! (Poor Micheal... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif ) I thought it pretty much was a great satire of both the marvel and real universes. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Just bought it... Yippie!
Wolvie to Nighty: ?Blue furballs don't fit their --urp!-- demographics!?
Clinty to Beastie: ?A guy covered in blue fur doesn't exactly fit their demographic!?
And did you notice something particular http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif (yet again) with our precious Elf in the Dazzler story?
'The Gift' was great, but can someone answer me, why Nighty seems to dislike keeping his mouth closed? The art was really good, and the story was above average, I don't regreat I bought it.
You're all probably right, the Churchill rendition of Nightcrawler, was too open-mouthed - but don't get me wrong, I think his mouth was great in this issue.
Aurgh! I want the Nighty Mini to be out...
p. s. Yes, the Dazzler thingie was hilarious - but I don't like how they drew Nighty. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif

Oh! And he had such cute shorts! Let's just say he came of relatively mild, considering what was done to some. Poor Michael indeed.

Yeah Unlimited was pretty cool. The story
ok and I really like Deodatos Nightcrawler! My favorite pic was in that 1st panel on page 7 of the story--where Kurts crouching on that gargoyle just before he leaps off of it.And when Kurt comes out of the shadows and grabs the crook was dramatic. And then when Kurt dangles him off of the building--he really scared the crap out of that guy.Its good to see Kurt show his harder side once in a while.I agree that it makes him more real--well rounded.
I also thought the Dazz story was a fun little story. The cameos were cool.I thought the Hulk was hilarious--"Sniff.Hulk fine!Hulk just has something in eye!"The big softie*Lol*
I also liked that Illyana/Magik pin-up on the last page by Sienkiewicz.

Oooh, yeah!!! Especially those! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
**Maybe he opens his mouth a lot because he has a lot to say lately?**

True. Let's all be thankful the elf has got his voice! There, gnahrf, everyone has come together to give you enough theories to last you a few long nights of deep meditation, don't you feel special? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

One word: DITTO!!
**You all must be thinking up Churchill's rendition of the elf in uncanny**
Hm, maybe. Perhaps that idea might have formed unconsciously in my head. Thanks for pointing it out. Hold on, let me go back and change that...these sort of things aren't too good to hold on to, gotta keep them in check.
Very true GNAHRF!
DEODATO has joined ADAM HUGHES on my list of "Artists who I want to see more Nightcrawler stuff from."

BAMF!
Heh! I haven't even thought of that Bamf. Yeah it is strange that he didn't get the preist out of there. He could have just grabbed him and teleported him somewhere. hmm....

DITTO DRAGS!!
I very much enjoyed the story and art. Kurt did look a little different each time Deodato drew him though. Almost as if he was still trying to get a handle on the character. In spite of that I thought that the art was excellent overall. ( those backgrounds... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif )
There was one little thing about the story that kind of bothered me though. Just why the heck would Kurt leave the Priest unprotected for so long? Wouldnt his 1st instinct be to get the Father to safety, then take care of whatever antagonists were present? With his power he could have done this relatively quickly and still had time to take out whatever badguys were lurking around. I understand that Kurt didnt seem to want the Priest to know he was a mutant, and that the Priests' confrontation with 'Thomas' was integral to the story, but it just seemed unusual that Kurt would leave him so vulnerable for so long. (Unless somewhere off panel Kurt told him to "Get to safety" and he assumed the Father was out of danger?)
Overall I thought it was really good and it left me hungry for more solo Kurt stuff!
I'd have paid the cover price just for the 3 panels with this little snippet...
thug: "Man, I always get left behind. Never get in on the action."
Kurt: "I wouldnt worry too much about that, mein freund."
(Cut to the kick a@@ picture from ELWING's scan)
"I'd say the action's found you."

This is something that came into mine mind as well, and well there it kept hitting my said mind with an outrageous awarness that it all was unlogical and improbable... Anyway, I liked the story - even though it had many resemblences to other stories, but for that the art quite clearly made up.
Good point Bamf!.
I think this was a small discrepency made because they needed the priest to confront the thug. (Plot device)
To play the devil's advocate, you could say Kurt didn't want to risk injuring the priest with a teleport...
