Yikes! ...Uhm, maybe they were trying to make a statement or something...I don't know, perhaps that mutants are seen as ugly, and that kinda sorta sets them appart, but they form their own group of friendship. If the sculpture isn't meant to be pretty, I sure don't get the feeling that they are bad, they seem rather goodnatured and (united?)
By the way, is NC missing a tail there...
I'm going to go out on a limb. I kinda like it. Granted, Colossus looks like Frankenstein's monster and Nighty's tail is missing, but it's kind of cool. It's very...visceral.

It's really a stylistic thing. You can tell it's scuplted WELL, it's just that they look kinda... old i guess. Kurt's costume is messed up too.
