whoa! the colours sure are a lot lighter on the net than in Photoshop... it is supposed to be darker, his uniform is s'possed to be black, afterall...
-
I think it may be his left leg. Though it may not look wrong if you saw someone in person in a drawing it doesn't quite work. What do you think?
-
I really dont see anything wrong with it, quite the opposite really. Its lovely
-
That's wierd. Whenever I post an image on the web it always looks darker than it did in photoshop...
Anyway, It looks great to me.

Wow! That looks awesome. But if you really think something's wrong, I think that left leg may be it. It, I dunno, whatever. It looks great!
Oh wait! It's that damned collar! That's the problem!
-
HSU's right!!!! Get rid of the collar and its GOLD!!!

Well, if i were forced at gunpoint to find something wrong, I'd say the left knee could be pointed more to the left or the right.
As it's now directly pointed at the viewer, it covers his thigh completely so that we only see it from knee to foot. If you squint your eyes you can almost imagine his knee is attached directly to his hip.
One way artists establish a hierarchy of depth is with non-obscuring overlapping.
For example, we see his left ear is in front of the back of his hair which is in front of his left collar which is in front of his neck, in front of his right collar, in front of his right shoulder (we see yellow trim from it), in front of his right arm, which is behind his right hand, which is in front of his right knee. Etc..
All of this tells our perception where everything exists in the dimension of this drawing.
But in the instance of his left knee, the overlap obscures the its connection to the rest of his body. This allows our brains to imagine that it's free floating or that it's attached to the nearest visible point, his left hip.
(Of course, this a subconscious thing, we all know his thigh is just covered it up)
I think if you make just a little more of his left thigh visible, it will all work even better.

I think it's that he's leaning too far forward and it's messing up the sense of gravity in the picture...maybe if you rotate him towards his back just a little, in relation to his tail?
-
ok, I can see the leg thing...i can move the leg.... no i can't rotate him though. i would have to dre-draw the ENTIRE thing! if you have ever played X-Assault, the good guys are on the left of the screen and face right, cause the baddies are onthe left right side of the screen. to there is a reason to this..
and yes i prefer tjhe classic costume too, but the game always has him in the new costume so that is how i must draw him. this pic aint for myself (neither is the one that ended up at the top of this board ! )
-
Nocturne, is X-Assault even still around? The link I have to it doesn't seem to work. Did it move?
-
yup it's still around... kinda they had server problems... well, the srver was jsut fine, but the cost of running the site with all the bandwidth they were eating up forced them to shut down for a while, but they recently partnered up with X-Fan and are getting donations to help with the server costs, so they are coming back
-
Well, I perfer him in his classic costume, but new ones fine. Just get rid of the collar, and just maybe rotate him a little bit, so he's facing the viewer.
