Hey guys. For those of you who don't know, I'm pretty into fanfic--and in particular slash fanfic--and I've put together a little webpage that combines that interest with my other interest--Nightcrawler! Slash, for those of you not too heavily involved in the fanfic scene, is just a handy term for same-sex romance fiction. It's a whole scene unto itself, and the folks who write it are wild and crazy! Anyhow, there's a lot more to my page than just slash, but it does have some mild adult content, and links to pages with more than just mild adult content, so I'm hesitant to post the URL here. If you're cool with slash fanfic and aren't gonna freak out if you stumble across some, e-mail me and I'll tell you where to find the page. Or if nobody has a problem with it, I'll just post the darn URL, but I have a feeling people would have a problem with it.
Lots of stuff on the page came from here, and I think I've given you guys sufficient credit, but if not, I'll fix it. Thanks for being the grooviest forum on the 'net!

I'm sure you can just post it up here, we're all pretty liberal people, it seems. And we're all definitely very tolerant and understanding, we really get what X-Men is really about. So go ahead and post a link. If it bothers anyone they can just say so and I'll take it down.
-
Aiight. You guys are cool, it's just that I was afraid of some kind of 'Rex is a weird sicko' tide of sentiment, and, well, *sniff* I just didn't want to risk losing my new friends *sniff*. Okay, I'm better. Here's the URL:

Hope you like it!

Holy crap, Rex!!!! Did you do this yourself!?!? This is a fnatastic looking site!!!!!

The site layout is really clean and clear. WOW! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
Anyway, just general praise to your Website format.

Wow, Rex! I'm impressed. Excellent layout. I'll look at it more tomorrow! Definitely worth checking out!

Oh one little techical gripe: I use a large screen setting (my eyes are bad)and as a result of this the navigation bar in the left of the screen doesn't fit and I can't reach the link in the bottom without trickery. For the rest, it's just beautiful.

WOW! It's about time someone made a Nightcrawler fanfiction site. Hopefully this means there'll be more fanfic about Kurt, I'd like to see that.
-
Hey Rex, I'm having the same thing as Elwing. That menu bar on the left runs off the page. Other than that it looks very cool. May I ask how do you get that over lap effect between the title image and the inline frame?
------------------
D'oh. never mind. I just needed to expand the page. Hey I like the Kurt-o-meter, but maybe instead of bullets you can use this: http://www.geocities.com/amyf22204/elfhead.gif
and for something really hot:

Hey, I'm not sure what you mean, Spat. To get all the "masthead" images to line up, I just set all the various border and margin attributes to zero. Was that your question?
I love that Kurt head! I think I *will* use it. I might shrink it down a little bit first. Ha, a shrunken head! I'm a head-shrinker! Sorry, no sleep.
Glad you guys like the site! It's been my procrastination device for a few weeks now. That fanfic list took a while to put together; that's probably the only real contribution to "content" this site provides, other than my unsolicited opinions about various comics.
About that menu: do you think it would be okay if I just repeated that information at the bottom of the scrolling page? Or is it bad to have the non-scrolling nav bar in the first place? I wanted to keep them in separate frames, but ... hmm, I'm going to go try something.
Thanks for your feedback, guys! And yes, KC, I did it all by my little old self http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif

No prob for me. I've read some slash myself, mainly Star Wars. There's this really funny site called Sith Academy that turned into a slash series but it's still great fun.

Hey, is it okay if I use the blinking head? I mean, they *blink*! No disrespect, Spat http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Fine with me. Damn! I'd use 'em too.
Elwing you are amazing.

arg. I typed this beautiful screed, and then clicked the clear button! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif
I was gonna say. don't worry about the menu Rex. Its ok. I just didn't have my browser window fully opened. As for the heads. you might want to rescan them, mine are really blurry, I canabilized them from a pic Elwing posted. Or I can re-scan them if you like.

use them as much as possible. Let there be plenty of sychronized blinking!

There have been quite a few animated gifs done by now! We should round them up and do a sort of hamsterdance! Now if only I could think of some fitting music to go with it. Any suggestions?

Hhhmmn..it may be a little too fast-paced, but how about the classical music peice 'Flight of the Bumble Bee'?
(On second thought scratch that! Now that I think about it, the tempo WOULD be way too fast http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif )
BAMF!

I think "Blue (da ba dee)" would be cool to go with the nightcrawlerdance thing...
Heh, i could always make some more gifs too...
-
Has that been a hit in the states too? I thought that was strictly a Eurothing. I had already thought of that one. Let's see if I can dig it up somewhere.

Oh, that's a hit everywhere. I did a study abroad thing in Mexico last year and that song was everywhere. That would be an excellent choice.

Not that this has anything to do with Nightcrawlerdance (Sorry ^^; ), but I wanted to say to Rex that the site looks really great. ^_^ I've been looking for Nightcrawler slash and have found very little (maybe I'm not looking in the right place?) so your site cheered me up a bit. Yay! Anyway, keep up the good work.

Hey Rex, just thought you'd like to know. I've just looked at your site again and noticed that in one of the articles("11.12.00
Cerise, and Why We Care About "Maximum Security") the pictures overlap the text. It may be just my browser (aol) which is in need of an update, but I figured you'd want to know.

Yeah, I ran into that overlapping problem with Netscape. I haven't solved it yet (obviously) but I'm workin' on it. My knowledge of HTML is really patchy; there may be something really basic that I'm not doing. Thanks for the tip, Spat.
Thanks, Jyuu-chan! I'm gonna do an update this evening, I think; people have been notifying me about stories I've left off the big list. I'm not really going to be happy with the page until the archive gets more than one story in it, though http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

It does the overlap thingie with my Explorer too.
I love your site. I was checking out links last night. I've read a lot of the stories before but there were some great surprises.
If ya want, I could send ya some stories. Probably not slash though. I get bored at work and write. That's where I write all my round robin sections.
I seem to either write silly stuff or that violent, nasty stuff like my first installment in the round robin. I'm trying to do some other stuff now.

Rex, I've looked up text wrap in my html book, and maybe I have a solution.
In the Head portion of your file, type:
Let me know if that works.

I've tried to post this about five times. If this time doesn't work I'll just email you.

It's cool, I got it. I just hit 'reply w/ quote' and the html showed up. Let me know if that fixes it. Thanks for the help.
Hey, Slar, I'd love your stories! Send 'em over.
I just did a little update, too. The blinking heads are now fully operational http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
-Rex
ps. darn, okay, that didn't work. I'm gonna have to sleep on this one. The weird thing is, I tested the page with Netscape before uploading it to freespeech.org and it looked fine. weird.
pps. okay, I fixed it. had to set some explicit heights for the tables. hmm, need to read up on how browsers scale tables... now, if I can only fix that front page...
