I just rewatched X-Men. I loved that movie, it's what got me back into this. I have the utmost respect for Brian Singer and I hope Nighty makes it into the next movie.
So here's a question: How would you all introduce Nighty to the movie audience?

Oh, the classic way: chased by an angry mob against a circus background. Is there any other way?

CARY ELWES!!!
YES!!!!!!!!!! Come to think of it, I don't think I could come up with a better person...and although he's a bit older, he can pull off the youth easily, especially with all that blue makeup on!
-
YES HIM!!! That would kick ass if they got him to play Kurt. Oh yeah, this is just something I thought would be of interest if you wanted to know. The band that Kitty likes, Cats Laughing, is real. I swear it is. I was downloading stuff from Napster ans on a whim, entered that name thinking "Wouldn't it be cool if there was a band called that for real?" I came back with 25 results for Cats Laughing. My jaw nearly hit the ground, I was so amazed.
-
Now that you mention is, Cary Elwes would make a great Kurt! He's the master of accents, so I'm sure he'd do a great German accent.
I had read somewhere that Cat's Laughing is/was a real band; I think I read Emma Bull (lead singer) was a real person too (not positive about that one though). According to Hugh Jackman, there's a band in Australia named The Uncanny X-Men. Don't you think Marvel be a bit upset at the use of the copyrighted name though?

I still think that Seth Green could play the part easily. He got the furry part down playing a werewolf on "Buffy". He can be funny, plus he's cute.
-
I don't like the idea of Seth Green...he's been getting less funny lately. Plus I don't think he can pull off the leather costume of the blue makeup.
-
Seth Green? NO! We need a HUNK to play our Kurt!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
-
I've mused over this alot. And Cary Elwes is a good sugestion i hadn't thought of.
I don't mind the idea of Seth Green so much as Cris Katan, i can't BELIEVE anyone thinks he'd be good. He dosen't even look right.

Guys, I just read some bad news over at Wizard. Check out this link:
http://www.eonline.com/Reviews/Movie...1/010105c.html
Apparently, the new X-Men for the sequel are Beast, Gambit and Jubilee. Sigh ... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif
Of course, there's still no script, and this reporter might be jumping to conclusions. Let's hope so.
Don't kill the messenger ...

Same here. You know who would make a cute Nightcrawler? The guy that played Wesley in the Princess Bride. I know his name, I just don't know how to spell his last name. He's cute.

And where the heck did Jubilee come from?I know she made a cameo in the movie but she wasnt mentioned once to be a regular character for the sequel. Why now all of the sudden???They probably want to use all the characters from the original cartoon wich in my opinion was really lame.I dont think Gambit,Beast and Jubilee can bring half of what Nightcrawler could have brought to the table story or characterwise. No offense to anyone who likes these characters,I dont hate them though it may seem like it,Im just ranting.
Oh well,Ill get over it.

I'm not sure, but wasn't Jubilee in the first film? It was just a cameo. She was one of the students who crowded outside the door when Wolvie stabbed Rogue. Remember, this is Wizard we're talking about.

Okay, if any of you watched the movie, you know about the extra stuff they put at the end. Jubilee actually had lines. They just cut them out. I want Nightcrawler in the 2nd movie!
-
That's what I thought -- it's the cartoon. Booo! Of course, E! is a sensationalistic rag (can you call internet magazines 'rags'?) and I imagine they'll report anything regardless of its 'finality'. Remember, they haven't even hired a writer yet, and I don't think Singer has officially signed on. The movie could look very different by the time it actually starts getting made.
-Rex
-
Yeah Spatula, Jubilee was in the final cut as a cameo role as I mentioned in my previous post. She was seen sitting next to Rogue and Kitty in that class room scene, and there was the scene you mentioned.
Im just miffed because Singer never mentioned her to be one of the new main characters. All this time it was Beast,Gambit and Nightcrawler. But if Kurt isnt in the first sequel I think he could still make the third movie. If he isnt in any of the movies though,Ill live.Im a Nightcrawler fan,Im used to my favorite character getting underated and 'overlooked'.
But again as Rex said these are probably just rumors,so I will still try to keep my hopes up.

Let's all take a page from Kurt's book and pray that reporter was on crack. Jubes! I mean, come ON! I'm gonna check AICN...though they are 'tards too most of the time.
Chris Kattan--GACK!!! Monkey boy.
Seth Green--not too bad, could be much better.
Cary Elwes--WOO-HOO, I think he's getting a little old for the part now, but thinking of him as Princess Bride (my fav movie, BTW) age, he would be awesome! Anybody got a pic of him to Elfify?

Um, I think there is either one out there on the net, or around here somewhere of him as Nighty. I'm not sure.
-
I've never seen one, if ya do give me a holler, Beamie.
I just looked at AICN, boy some of those people are idiots. Their main X-Men news is that the Rock won't be playing Beast. Uck. The forum has some outnumbered Nighty lovers on it. Some names for possible Nighty's are: Kyle McLaughlin (cute, but too old), Jamie Kennedy...who's that? The name sounds familair..., Jet Li (!ASIAN!), Alexander Siddig (the doctor from Deep Space Nine)(!), Ray Park, and Rufus Sewell (cutie, too old)
Just thought I'd share http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

DRAGONLADY youre echoing my sentiments EXACTLY. I followed the above link and $ the latest Wizard today. I read about the movie news and also saw the listing of the upcoming mini-series due for next year. Lemme tell ya i'm more than just a little ticked off.
I am truly sick of Kurt getting the short end of the stick when it comes to these things.
http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif Bad enough he wasnt in the 1st flick, now he (possibly) wont be in the immediate sequel...
http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif Nightcrawler not being included in the initial lineup for "Ultimate" X-MEN...
http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif Nightcrawler (possibly) not being one of the 1st X-MEN up to bat for a 2001 limited series...
AARRRGHHHHH!! Like DRAGS said, being a Nightcrawler fan you kinda get accustomed to Kurt getting the short end of the X-stick, but enough is ENOUGH!
Hey wait a minute...now that I think about it I also read that Morrison plans to Kill two X-MEN right off the bat!!
To even THINK this turns my stomache to ice, but would the powers that be at the X-offices actually consider letting NIGHTCRAWLER be one of the X-men to die?!? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif
Maybe THAT's why they dont seem to have plans for him anymore where the LS and sequel to the movie are concerned!?! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/confused.gif
I know i'm probably just being paranoid, but knowing that Claremonts taking T-bird 3 over to his new book ( A character I felt for SURE would be one of Grant's casualties ) makes me wonder...who is left for Morrison to kill off?
The characters that are going to Claremonts book along with Cyke, Wolverine and Jean are untouchable. And if Angel is slated for a mini then he's obviously not getting killed off...
THAT LEAVES NIGHTCRAWLER ON THE SHORT LIST OF X-MEN THAT MIGHT BE...
NO... I refuse to even think that. If Marvel and Morrison even DREAM of trying to pull something like that.... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif!!!!

I had the same nightmarish train of thought today, BAMF. That mysterious omission from the Wizard article got me thinking ... paranoid thoughts. I don't understand what Marvel would possibly hope to gain by killing him, and not some worthless character like Thunderbird. And they wonder why readership is dropping.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
You know, if they killed him, I think I'd stop reading Marvel and never look back. He's pretty much the only thing that interests me about the X-Men these days.

As much as I enjoy the Avengers, Thunderbolts, Thor, Pacheco FF and JR JR Spidey I'd be joining you in that Marvel boycott if they were daft enough to kill Kurt REX! Ditto about Kurt being pretty much the only reason I still collect the x-titles.
Hey and while were on the subject of being paranoid, there's something in the Wizard article on Morrison and his upcoming X-stint that for some reason struck me as kinda 'funny'. (I know i'm more than likely reading too much into this!) I thought it strange that with all of Grant's recent talk about his plans for Jean, Scott and Logan during his run, Wizard decided to put a pic of Nightcrawler and Shadowcat along with the article. As far as I know he's NEVER said anything about having plans for these two X-men.
Could it be that Wiz knows Kurt and Kitty are going to bite the bullet during Morrison's run? Were their images placed in the article to throw everyone off?
Sorry..I didnt mean to go all 'Agent Mulder' on everyone...it's just that I've been having this REALLY strange/bad feeling that Grant and Casey dont have plans to use Nightcrawler in either of their books...

Who is that guy, Knighty? Is that you? You know, having Kurt around would be hard on furniture. Kind of like a huge cat that crawls on everything.

I've been concerned about NC's future for a while. We've all been so upbeat because of evolution, the x-fan poll, and Millar's forum, that I kept quiet because I didn't want to be a wet blanket. However, this looks like the right time for me to say this. According to xfan, a lot of characters are definatly going to get killed off in Morrison's first few issues. Since no writer has expressed any interest in Kurt, I'm suspecting that he will be one of the disposable ones. There is that poll at x-fan in which the elf scored pretty well, but I doubt marvel takes internet polls seriously. I personally don't think they accurately reflect fan favorites. Anyhow, here's my own opinion: Since I've given up on the books anyway, and I feel that Nightcrawler's character has been ruined by cc's recent moves to make him a "student-priest", it wouldn't shatter my world if they killed him. I'd be very sad, but it's something I could live with. I'd certainly wouldn't be interested in buying anymore x-men comic books, and my belief that marvel is run by headless chickens would be confirmed beyond a doubt. The way I see it, the damage has already been done. That character in the books named Nightcrawler isn't my Nightcrawler, and I don't want him. If they kill him, I wouldn't care. As long as there's Nightkiddo on Evolution ,plenty of fanfic around like Slarti's and Beamy's, and lots of back issues easily available, I'll be content. It'll save me a lot of money, too.

I've been thinking pretty much the same thing for he last 10 months. Excepting the part about headless chickens. I always pictured them as more like the incompetant boss from Dilbert. Infuriating, yet clueless.

I read an article over at the Comics Continuum, it kinda gave a few tid-bits of things to come. I did see where they said they would kill more MUTANTS in a singe page than has ever been done before. And considering the Mutant Massacre, that might well be a lot. This is a gimmick to hype up quick sells, and if the stories are written well enough people might stay around. But remember not all mutants are XMEN. There are tons of mutants out there for Cannon fodder, Genosha, Morlocks, or Even mutants they just make up etc... With probably a few X-men thrown in. I believe Morrison did say he would be killing off a few of them.
And Kurt is supposebly getting a mini for this year. I don't see them killing off someone and then have a limited series where they are the star.
-

ahem...The Search for Cyclops
But I see your point BC. I hope you are right. I still feel though that unless they "fix" Nightcrawler, I won't be very interested in the x-books or the LS.
Ah yes, Kahlana. I can see that. The pointy-haired boss as MarvelComics' CEO. It all makes sense now.
