hi everyone!
here in my country there is a company named editorial vid that publish the comics in spanish and also put information, fan art and letters on it, and someone wrote to the guys from this editorial asking for the respective ages for the excalibur members, and they answered that colossus is 27 years old and kurt is 24 years old!!! i'm not sure but i thing that answer is wrong but if i remenber in ish 159 (that i believe was the first time they put colossus age) he was 18 years old, and later in annual #4 was kurt's 21 birthday, so i guess he is older than peter, but i get confused so if someone could answer me, i really aprecciated that!!!!
please
thanks

You're right--Piotr is a couple of years younger than Kurt. I believe it goes like this: Kurt turned 21 around the time Kitty turned 15. I think Piotr was 19 at the time. Kitty is now supposed to be what? 18? 19? Let's say 19 making Kurt 25 and Piotr dying at the young age of 23 http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif
-
yeah but didn't Kitty get retro-aged back to 16? That really threw everything out of whack. I think there's no way to really pin their ages down. Still, 25 sounds about right for Kurt.

Hi Spatula,
Oh geez, I don't know. Warren made her 18. I hope they didn't retro-age her---No, wait, she left the XMen to go to college! Yes! She's hiding out in college so she's 18 (or over)! Phew! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
So I think that's about how the aging goes. Kurt is in his mid-20's, definitely. Piotr a little younger.
-
Kurts always been at least 2 years older than Petey.

Yuppers, around 25 for fuzzy. In Marvel's jacked up timeline. Of course, going by real time...if he were 20 when he joined in 1975 that would make him the amazing middle-aged elf. Mmmm...I'll stick to 25. It's a good age...right guys and gals?!

Shady chimes in..."Right, Slarti!!" 25 sounds about right for the elf. Plus, with me being almost 24, he's the perfect age for me. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
It's a shame that everyone's age depends so much on Kitty's.

Yeah real world speaking Kurt should be 46.Peter 44,Kitty 35.And Scott a wopping 54 years old.Thats only a year older than my mom!

Eek! I think Kitty would be around 40...or she would've been only ten years old when she and Piotr were an item http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif.
I sometimes wish we'd see some real time go by in the books. I wouldn't mind seeing them age a bit.
-
Well Kitty was 14 in 1980 add 21 years and you get 35.Peter was 19 in 1975 add 26 and you get 44 *AGH*But it REALLY depends on WHEN Marvel decides to age them.I mean Kurt was 20 when he started the X-Men but he didnt have a birthday until 6 years later in 1981 but no one else had a birthday later that year.Atleast not that we recall. So Peter remained 19 for who knows how long before they decided to age him. When one character ages so should another.Say EVERY character ages EVERY 5 years. That might be less confusing.Am I making any sense?Probably not.Actually I think Im more confused now.*sigh* http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/tongue.gif http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif

On one hand, I can see why Marvel tries not to age them. They stay young and closer to the demographic that reads comics and they stay young enough to stay in the action. However, it would be nice if they would age a bit from time to time. DC ages some of their characters, after all. When you think that the X-Men's 40th anniversary is coming up, and then think that in Marvel time the X-Men have existed for, what, 10 years maybe, it all starts to fall apart a bit. I mean, they have been busy, but squeezing all that's happened to them into 10 years would make them all go a bit nutty. No time to sleep or eat will do that to you.

I generally think of them not aging. They're timeless and always in the now. That makes it neccessary to "update" the characters periodically, like Magneto for instance had been in a concentration camp during WWII. That's going to have to be updated sooner or later. In Ultimate X-men they have more modern backgrounds. As for Kurt, I think the gypsy stuff is really getting moth eaten. One reason I'm very intrigued about Ultimate Kurt is just what kind of background does he have? Is there any circus, or gypsies or is it something different? I hope we get to find out.

But this life experience is the whole basis of Magneto's beliefs. How can they ever change it? I mean, of course they can't age Magneto....he'd be about 80 and doddering by now....but time must pass eventually. Of course, they have gotten around his age (and Xavier's) with cloning, de-aging, etc. etc. Hey, I'll buy that http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif.

I agree the gypsy stuff just doesn't sell these days. It's very antiquated. I'm curious to see why/how he ended up in Weapon X as well. I am very much interested in the Ultimate X. I wonder if Mystique will play into the plotline at all? Hate to think she'd let those slobs do that to her boy. Seems like she'd be pretty pissed off if she found out.
-
Well Ultimate is so different, I wouldn't be surprised if Mystique isn't even related to Kurt. But Mystique is in the next issue, so I think she'll have a big part to play. God I wish that issue would come out already!!
As for Mags, I probably should look it up, I don't have a copy of Ult #1 I read the dot.comic and now my memory is a bit vague, but I think the idea is that he's been involved in one of those Eastern European conflicts.

Aagh!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif When did they give Kitty her 15th b-day party? Wasn't that in a reprint of the Krakoa story?
Whatever, she was 13, 14 or so when Pete was 19 so....ugh!

It can't be so different that his parentage would change. All the circumstances of his birth, sure, but nothing else----unless we will actually get more truths this time around (I wish). An I'm sure he's still fuzzy http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif.

I don't think other than the concentration camps, that we've ever REALLY known who Mags really is. That would make it easy to make him one of the victims, or near victims of the "ethnic cleansing", ah hell, genocidal tendencies happening there, as we really don't know his race. It was alluded that he MIGHT be a Jew, but then, I could just be trailing off not having a CLUE as to what I'm saying.... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/redface.gif Cool idea. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

You're welcome. (basking in the loving feelings on this board)
I don't think trying to figure out the x-men's ages are worthwhile. They're always changing. I think for the most part, marvel deliberately avoids giving them definate ages.
-
Is Beast still 30? They haven't de-aged him. I thought that it was fun having him turn 30 at the same time the title turned 30. I figured that wold be about it for any of the XMen having birthdays.... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
-
I agree with Spatula Gal. I don't think comic book characters really need to age. Not in regular continuity anyway. Because you end up having to retire cool characters for no good reason.
It's best if you think of them as forever being in a certain age bracket.
Younger characters can age into adulthood (ala Robin) while characters that started out as adults don't every get much older (ala Batman)
Remember, Clark Kent became Superman at the age of 35. And he's been a super-hero how long?
I think Kurt will always be mid-20's.
-
Hmmmmm. According to X-Men Annual #4 (Nightcrawler's Inferno!), Kurt turned 21 while Kitty was 13 and 1/2. I'm not sure how old Colossus was supposed to be, but I think he was 19. I thought that Kitty had finally turned 20 sometime before she started dating Pete Wisdom, but I'm not sure why. A scene with her in The Dream Nails trilogy part two has her and Pete in a bar, and she says she needs a drink, so I supposed that she was close to legal. That was a few years ago, so I thought she'd at least be 21 by now, but there is no continuity in the Marvel universe, it seems, because I think she was supposed to be 18 when she left. So Kurt could be anywhere from 26-28, theoretically. But you never know. Just a guess.
