It was cool!!!
I was about 15 feet from Joe Casey when he answered someone's question about Nightcrawler's priesthood. He said Nightcrawler would have some serious conflict with a new villian "The Supreme Pontiff" who's a religious fanatic.
Casey seemed like a pretty cool guy. Despite his so-far bizare ideas for villians, he seems to really be into the X-men and wants make cool stuff happen. (wheither or not he succeeds, we'll see.)
I saw quite a few people in costume (mostly Star Wars). There were tons of the Bowen mini-busts around, and i noticed how Nightcrawler was the hardest to find(good thing I already have one.)
And the biggest news is, I bought...
Da-Da-Ta-DA! A copy of Giant Size X-Men #1!!!
(the first apearance of a certain blue elf.)
It's in good-fair condition. Little discoloration, some creases, and tiny little tears, but the spine's in good shape and overall it looks really good. Set me back $200. I think I got a really good deal.

First off: Congrats on the catch!!
Also, did you get to talk to Casey (or somebody)? What else happened?
As for the storage: how about encasing it in an airtight, sealed container and putting it up in a home-made shrine in the living room? (then again, that's just me... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif )

that's cool Garble. One of these days I'm gonna have to try one of those conventions. We heard about Casey's comments from ComicsContinuum ect. Cool that one of the Elfianados was there. I've been pretty disapointed in Casey's work so far, but his ideas sound so interesting. He seems to have a thing for corny sounding names though.

Well, I sat through the Marvel panel and the X-Men panel(both had the same slide set up)
And at the X-Men panle when they showed the cover to Nightcrawler #1 and asked "Do you guys like Nightcrawler?" I made it a point to yell really loud.
I didn't ask any questions because you had to get in this really long line behind the microphones set up in the eiles.
If I'd gotten the chance, I reall wanted to come up to Casey face to face and plead with him to make Kurt quit the priesthood. I would have also told him about this place, but I never got the chance.
The Casey quote that's been online was an "answer" to a question asked by someone behind me. It was somehting like "There have been a lot changes to the characters, like how Nightcrawler has always been somewhat of a player, and now he's suddenly become a priest. Is there ever going to be any explination of these kind of character changes?"
Casey's response was really more of a plug than an answer, but at least he seemed like he was wanting to expore this issue.
He also said he wants the Supreme Pontiff to become one of the X-Men's biggest villians.

Damn, he has been close enough to smell Casey! I'm glad he seemed like a reasonable man after all. Most comments on his personality seem extremely negative. Whatever baddie he brings up next, it had better be something structural. Warp Savant was halfway likable but his appearance and demise left no consquences whatsoever, and Mr. Clean is almost forgotten already.(and his storyline hasn't even ended yet!)
Congrats on the catch, by the way. That seems quite a good price. The prices E-bay sometimes brings up for these things are pretty shocking. I guess it's a good investment.
(And now I will (so jealous!)complain about your German. The german word for misses is "Fr?ulein" Tip: In german *all* nouns get a capital. This why this Language looks so Official.
By the way, my German has scientificaly been proven as sucky. And I won't even go into my English...)

The funniest comics, do always have names like 'The Supreme Pontiff' (I didn't know what a pontiff was until I looked it up), but I tell you, I can never be able to take this super villain seriously - never. I wonder what his power is. Instantly convert people to his religion? Be able to memorize every movement he sees? What the heck, why do I assume he's a he? He might, for sanity's sake, be a she! I'm babbling, best to stop...

Elwing, thanks for the correction. I only know how to sing a few songs in German that my dad taught me. For all other German, i use this tiny English-German dictionary. My ancestry is German, and my dad lived in Germany for a year, but i've never learned the language. (Always wanted to, but I have enough trouble with English)
The Supreme Pontiff seems kinda silly to me too. I think Casey is going for a kind of Reverend-whatshisname from God Loves Man Kills. But with a little more pomp.
Casey strikes me as the kinda guy that has a strange sense of humor most people don't really get.

This was my first. It was quite different than I expected, more formal in a way. A lot more like being at College than like being at a big garage sale or party.
The convetion center had serval conference rooms that would have panels going all day long. While the main big room was full of comic book dealers from all over the country selling comics, toys, merchandise, posters, and quite a few places that sold mideaval weapons and clothes. All the main publishing companies have offical boothes as well.
Some of the cooler Non-Nightcrawler relates stuff I saw included
-A room set up to dispay a bunch of Alex Ross's original work and some props and costumes he's used.
-Kevin Smith's panel where he answered stupid questions asked by people there, and where I got to see first hand just how similar Jason Mewes is to his character Jay.
-TONS of old Transformers toys.
-The pilot for the live-action TICK tv show being played on TV's at several people's boothes (I didn't see the whole thing, but man it looks really good).
-An Auction of orginal art work and memerobiala with guest Auctioning by Kevin Smith and George Perez. (It's really hard not to just scream stuff out.)
I had a really good time, I recomend it to eveyone, and I'm definately going next year.
