OK, here they've been leading us on about how Shadowed Past was supposed to focus on Nightcrawler and what do we get? More Rogue! Dammit! Like we need yet another episode filled with Rogue's "conflicted loyalties" and soul-sucking powers. And don't forget the moral message at the end this time, Kids WB!
I'm so sick of Rogue, I could just scream. When you think about it, everything that can be done with her, has been done already in the comics. Except, of course, curing her of her power. And the character is her power... she wouldn't be remotely interesting now without her terrible feelings of isolation and angst. After all, she wouldn't be just an ordinary person; she'd be a regular gal whose personality has been completely wiped out from years of whining. Now all we need is for Goth Gambit to show up and begin on the "Oh, I love you!", "But we can't touch!" theme.
You'd think making her Goth would refresh the character but since the only noticeable change has been her look and choice of reading material... AAARRRRRRRRGH!! I hate her! *Fasheem jumps up and down, stamping her feet and getting all red in the face* DIE! DIE! DIE!
...
Heh. Uh, any Rogue fans out there? Hmm. This got a little off-topic, didn't it?

Fasheem is funny. Fasheem can be alittle off-topic at times considering this is a
Nightcrawler forum!
But, I must admit, Fasheem is right! I really liked Rogue at the beginning when I just started to read comics and when I watched the cartoon but, alas, she is now boring. I'll just have to find another good comic where the characters are fresh and not priests!
Anyone read that new Oni comic?

I prefer to reserve my opinion on the new cartoon until it's been shown. At least it's a new one on Saturday.

Yes, Oni is Japanese. It means Demon.

I was thinking Oni Press...home to such greats as Barry Ween, Whiteout, Clerks, and Queen & Country.
Hrmmm. I seemed to have inadvertantly driven this even MORE off topic...
Oh well.

Just read this at xfan:

quote:

In an earlier article discussing the upcoming new episode of the X-Men: Evolution animated series entitled "Shadowed Past", story editor Bob Forward originally informed X-Fan that the catalyst for the story would be nightmares experienced by Jean Grey that were actually Nightcrawler`s, and that Jean was picking them up telepathically.
Forward recently contacted X-Fan to inform of a slight change in the story for the episode from what was originally intended.
"Greg [Johnson, co-story editor] has alerted me that at some point after the script left my hands, some changes were made," Forward told X-Fan. "The story now has Rogue having the nightmares instead of Jean."
"Shadowed Past" is set to premiere on the Kids` WB! network on Saturday, March 31.

If I'm reading this right, Rogue is just taking Jean's role, but the dreams are still Kurt's. I think this could be interesting if they touch on the siblings aspect. I like the evo Rogue. I'd say she's my second favorite after the 'Kiddo. She has just the right mix of tuff as nails over a vulnerable, sweet side. She reminds me of the 80's era Rogue, which I liked best. I really like her voice in the toon, its very realistic. I think the actress does one of the voices in King of the Hill. Its not that digusting "Southern belle" stereotype accent. Although I like Gambit, I'm not sure I'd want to see an evo version. I just can't see him as a teen without conjuring up someone like Avalanche. For this reason, I don't think there's gonna be an evo Gumbo.

I had just seen this at evolution.marvel.com:
"'Shadowed Past'
"Saturday, March 31:
"Rogue's recurring nightmares lead her to investigate the truth about her past. But what is the power-stealing spitfire's connection to Mystique and Nightcrawler? And where does the shadowy figure known only as Magneto fit in? Plus: Wolverine infiltrates the Master of Magnetism's lair...with disastrous repercussions!"
Which makes it seem like the entire thing is about Rogue. (With a side of Wolverine.) They should have left Jean as a main character. Poor thing has only had that one lame "spotlight" episode with the Blob. Ugh! And to think when the show started way back in November, I didn't like Jean at all and thought Rogue was going to be great.
When you think about it, all the time they spent over the question of where she would end up, with the X-Men or the Brotherhood, was kind of wasted considering she's totally with the X-Men in the theme song.
King of the Hill? Maybe Louanne? Is that her name?

Aw darn,
I missed that episode because a friend wanted to go to Great America. I guess I'll have to wait for the reruns to catch. Darn again.
-
AAwww poor Rogue! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif I guess thats what happens when it seems like the 'powers that be' are trying to constantly shove a character down our throats. Inevitably fans are going to get sick of 'em. (I kinda see it happening with Wolverine too!)
I actually like Evo Rogue but I have to admit that it seems like she's getting a LOT of the Evolution spotlight lately.
I REALLY hope she doesnt 'steal the show' this week from what should be a NIGHTCRAWLER/MYSTIQUE episode...
BAMF!

Not to get more off-topc (sorry Fasheem)
Oni is a comic book I seen at my local 7-11. It looked Japaneseish and I thought of buying it until I saw the price .... $5! I know that inexpensive to you worker people but I have yet to find a job with my name on it. Anyways the next day at Walmart I saw the Oni video game! Nonetheless I was freaked.

"Shadowed Past" is on this Saturday, KW. I know, I shouldn't judge the show by the one little write-up on the official site but ARGH. Stupid little scene-stealing spitfire! Bite me, Bob Forward!

If Oni is an imported comic, then it's gonna be a little more expensive.

Its on this Saturday? Cool, then I didn't miss it.

Well I know Fasheem and I will not miss it. Considering I have to record it or else Fasheem will come to my house and fillet me like a trout.

Yeah, that's her name.
They should of left it with Jean in it. It would make more sense as to why she's also having these nightmares, because she picks up on them telepathicly. ~sigh~ More Rogue, big whoop. And to think she used to be my faveorite. What can I say, I used to be a big Gambit and Rogue fan (issue # 24 of X-MEN is still one of my faves), then I saw the movie and became a Wolvie and Rogue fan (oh god, they so go together), and then I realized that Kurt was a hottie and now I'm kinda starting to get sick of Rogue. But I still think that she and Logan should get together in the movie....
-
Well, sounds like Shadowed Past is gonna be a bit of a disappointment. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif How... disappointing.
Anyway, MoonbeamDancer, Wonderlass is right - Oni does mean ogre. Japanese ogres specifically, which are strange creatures that tend to be big, ugly, and wear tiger-striped underwear. ^^;
No worries though, 'Beamie; Oni also means demon. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
(BTW, the anime store near me does carry some SM artbooks... but they go quick, so its hard to pinpoint which ones they have. They all seem to be around $30 though.)
