I know it's probably to early to ask, but does anyone have a pic of Kurt's new duds in Uncanny? I remember on Fandom them announcing that Wizard would have an X-Men special this month, so I don't know if it's out yet, but the probability is that I won't get it. The only decent comic book store that's open anymore is nearly 3 hours away from my house! I go to school for most of the week, and by the time I get out, there isn't enough time to get there! And by the weekend, everything's cleaned out. So, if you do get a copy of Wizard and you can post pics, please get a pic of Nightcrawler's new costume! I can't take the suspense anymore!

I don't know where you live, Bamfy, but I live in a pretty small city with no comic book stores and I can get Wizard at either Wal-Mart, the tiny book store at the mall, the convenience store down the street, the drug store, 7-11 and other fine gas stations... don't you have any of these in your area? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/confused.gif

Don't worry, I'm not contagious. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif If you're curious, look up the disease eosinophilic fasciitis(yes that's spelled right.) It's a disease similar to scleroderma, where the soft tissues of the body harden due to an unexplained overproduction of collagen in the body that deposits and hardens under the skin. The difference with mine is that is doesn't harden past the skin, so it's not fatal(like scleroderma), and it's more like my body is having an allergic reaction to itself. The pain comes when the hard areas(which cover most of my body) puts pressure on the nerves, muscles, etc. Plus, the fact that now it is healing, the nerves that were not working well are springing back to life, very painfully, especially when you consider how much of an area the disease covers. The visible scarring and the nerves can be compared with someone who has serious burns. I'm being heavily treated, but there is no cure. I'm been dealing with it for 3 years now, and I'm proud to say that Nightcrawler's dealing with his outward appearance has really helped me. People are really freaked out by it, but I consider myself a good person, and I have still have a lot of friends.
Now, yes I do have all sorts of mini-marts, stores, etc. There is a hobby store, too that's really good for Excalibur back issues, http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif, but add to that the fact that because of the disease affecting my hands, I can't drive(it's a pain when drawing too), so I have to rely on my dad to take me. Then, we usually arrive, either the store doesn't carry it, or it's sold out. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif Mini-marts I can walk to, but they don't carry magazines like that, neither does the school store. I really hope it's not too much trouble, danke.

Ah, I've never heard of *copy and paste* eosinophilic fasciitis. It sounds kind of like psorais... I don't think I spelled that right. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif But it's the only skin disease like that that I've heard of. As long as it isn't contagious, it doesn't bother me.
I can't drive either. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif But that's just because the family cars don't run too good and I worry that even if I did go through the driver's test and get a licence, it wouldn't do me any good... or worse, I'd get stuck somewhere with no one to help fix the car.

Most people have some sort of mental problem at some time in their life, don't they? I used to be so painfully shy that I was scared of people. And not just mean or scary people. Regular people, especially ones that I knew a little, but not very well. I would go out of my way to avoid having to talk to someone. I still hate talking on the phone. I would almost rather go somewhere and find out it's closed, than call ahead to make sure it's open.
I have a minor blood clotting disorder, not even worth mentioning... except even though it's easier to spell than *copy and paste* eosinophilic fasciitis, I've never actually looked it up so I'm still not sure how. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/redface.gif Maybe I should do that sometime.

Poor Fasheem! I hate crossing busy streets, if that helps any?! I have something that I can't spell but, basically, my body can't produce Horomones(sp?) so I'd be a shrimp (4" and under) if I hadn't taken a needle every day for about 5 years. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif

Whoa...hearing your stories makes me feel lucky! I've had this problem with my Thorax (think it's called anyway) so my body hasn't been able to get the proper nourishment from what I eat. As a result, I was suffering from severe malnutrition, all my teeth died and have now been capped, my nails are a sorry sight (I've got press-on salon nails now http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif) My hair is a sorry sight and my skin is terribly dry, and my eyesight has been severly deteriorating from the age on nine. It peaked last summer, when I was so weak from malnutrition that I couldn't even hold a glass in my hand, let alone get out of bed.
It's just recently that I've been recovering nicely, and I can even go to aerobic classes again these days, which is a major progress from being completely knackered at 3 o clock in the afternoon. Well, but if I hadn't been so ill last summer, I wouyldn't have been on the net so much, and never would have found my way here! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I finally looked it up. I have von Willebrand, which is only really dangerous if you have Type 3. I must have Type 1. The sad thing is, doctors recommend that people with von Willebrand don't participate in sports. Now they tell me! Just when Phys. Ed. is no longer compulsive! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif I really wish I'd known about this before. I used to want to be sick (like coughing sick) when I was younger so I could get out of school and not have to attend gym. *whimpers* Forced participation. It made me what I am today.

I'm very sorry to hear it, Bamfette. I hope we can be of support. The internet sure was a great help for me (I was hospitalized for half a year with mental problems a couple of years ago) Internet is cool because you don't get judged by what you look like, but just by what you have to say.
Anyway, I'm fine now (well, just a bit wierd, but that's why I'm here), and I hope you will be too, as far as possible.

That means you can go from happy happy joy joy tralala to screaming whining b*tch in 0.1 seconds. Violent moodswings and no control over your life whatsoever, kills your career and social life very effectively. After years of trouble I finally got hospitalized with a bad depression. I got over it really well, and I'm stability incarnate these days. The therapy and medication really helped, and I probably also grew over it. Gained 20 pounds in the proces, but it was a small price to pay http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
There's a moral to this story, but I forgot what it was.

Ok, this is what is wrong with me.
I was born 3 months premature. I was supposed to be born on Dec 24th or 25th , I forget which. Instead, I was born Sept 29. I'm 19 years old, my mom had me when she was 18. I am literaly lucky to be alive. If my mom had gone home instead of staying the night at my grandparents house, when she went into labor, she would of bled to death, and I would of died inside her. Luckily, we got to the hospital in time. My mom says I was almost born on the way to the hospital. While my mom was in labor with me, my dad showed up drunk as a skunk, and my mom sat up and screamed at him "WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU???" It took her 4 hours to give birth to me. (For a woman's first child, and in her case only child, that's pertty fast.)
I spent the first 3 months of my life in the hospital. I was so small that my mom could lay me on her lap and I would fit. My feet were the size of her thumbs, and she could rub my back with one hand. Now it takes 2 hands and I love to have not just my back rubbed, but also my feet, hands, and ears. I weighed 2 pounds and 2 ounces and they had me in a incubater(sp?) in a little while. While I was there, a premature baby boy died. It scared the helli out of my mom and grandparents. One of the nurses said the only reason I was alive was because I was a girl.
I was born with black hair about an inch long, all over my head and it pissed the other mothers off, because their kids were bald. They said "Oh it'll fall out." It never did, and it now to the middle of my back.
I was born with water on the brain. They put in a shunt to drain it and I still have a little bit of it in my head. I literaly have a dent in my head from where the shunt was.
I used to have cereabal pasly (sp?) when I was a baby. I would have seizsures. It effected the right side of my body more then the left. Today, whenever my right foot is tickled, my leg will jerk up in a muscle reflex.
I also have had surgery on both of my legs twice. The tendons in my legs were too short, so they had to go in and strech them. A baby learns to walk when they are how old, one or so? I didn't learn untill I was about 2 I think. I have a surgery scar on both legs on the inside from that. They are about 3 inches long I think. Whenever I see the insides of my friends legs, I think something is wrong and it takes me a sec to realize that they don't have surgery scars and their legs are normal. Only it seems strange to me, because the scars are normal for me. When I'm in the car, or out in the yard, I have to have shoes on and they have to cover my feet entirely, so no sandles, because if I don't, my feet tingle and they feel unprotected. Psychlogical effect from this.
I am scared to death of needles. I panic and start to cry everytime I get a shot. Another psychlogical effect I guess.
Nowadays, I'm perfectly fine. I walk with a slight gate because of my legs, but you'd never know unless you where staring at my legs or if I told you.

Omigosh...I feel so lucky after reading this thread. I'm not being facetious either, because I had an immune disorder, as well as my asthma, that kept me from attending school normally until the sixth grade. But for all those with challenges, past or present, bravo to you and I hope to see you for years as an Elficionado!

Man, I wish I had some good psychological reason, but I'm just incredibly afraid of needles for no apparent reason that I know of.
My parents knew this and still made me go (all alone) to the drugstore to get my flu shot, which ended up with me crying hysterically and completely flustering the poor lady trying to give me my shot...
I think it just has to do with the fact that I hate the idea of something being injected into my muscles/bloodstream... it just doesn't feel like it should be there. Giving blood doesn't bother me half so much, though I still tense up and they have to try the damn thing at least 2 or 3 times...

Prematurely born....a friend of mine (who is really short) showed me a picture of her when she was a newborn...with her mothers wedding ring on her upper arm! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif Very lucky to be alive! I also just found out yesterday that one of the guys from the PSB forum has a metal leg now, because he got cancer when he was 21. The first glance any of us will get will be the upcoming Wizard Special Edition: X-Men. The cover of the piece will be done by Churchill, and it will feature 3 X-Men. One of whom will be Nightcrawler. I originally thought this was coming out in April, but it looks like May is the actual target date. Unless, anyone beats me to it. I will post a pic of the cover when it is released.

When I ordered it, it was going to arrive May 9th, I beleive, but all the adds for it in Wizard say that it'll be out April 27th...which I think makes more sense, seein' as how it's supposed to be a bit of a sneak peek, and New X-Men comes out May 2.
