So, some of you may have noticed I've been kinda off the board lately. Can't really say why, it's just that I've been feeling disconnected lately.
But I DO have good news!
'Bout two weeks ago, I walked into work, and my supervisor almost shoved the classifieds in my face... there was an ad in there for a hotel that was hiring for my position (Night Audit), and they were offering more than $2 more than what I make now. I told him to take that thing out of my face, did he want to make me bitter?
So, a couple days later, I figured, what the heck? I put in my application.
They called me the next day for an interview. Two interviews, actually, one with the controller (head of accounting), and one with the front desk supervisor.
The interviews seemed to go well, so I let people at my current job know that I had applied, and that if I got the job, I'd give them 3 weeks notice.
Two days later I got the call... they want me.
So, now I'm finishing up the last two of my three weeks. To be honest, I'm kinda scared... but I'm kinda relieved, too. OK, really relieved. I hate my job, and it's just getting worse. I'm glad to be getting away.
And I must say, I'm already impressed with the new place. Aside from the fact that I'm finally making double digits per hour, it's nice to be working for a hotel that has it together enough to be having the head of accouting interviewing for the audit position. She's a really together chick, and she's worked the audit before. (Unlike where I work now, where I trained both the accountants to do my job, cause they honestly didn't have a clue about where I was getting my numbers from, or what half the stuff I was giving them meant.)
So, that's the news for the month. Hopefully the change in environment will be what I need to get out of my funk. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to miss this job that I have now. I work with some really cool people (how many of them can I convince to move with me? hmm...), and I'll always be grateful that they hired me literally off the street when I had been in this state for only a week, and desperately needed a job.
But it's time, and past time for me to leave.
