first I'd like to say that this is my first night on the board and I'm already having a good time. And second of all I think that really sucks how you got so much hate mail regarding issue #33, when I found it was a good break from the seriousness of this last part of Part 3. But I dunno, that's just me.
But basicly I wanted to thank you Terry for writing Yousaka Takahashi in Hirigana on the cover of SIP #29. For a couple of years now I have been self teaching myself to read Japanese, but for about half a year now I had quit due to depression in my life. I didn't want to do anything. But while I was reading "My Other Life" I noticed the Hirigana on the cover of number 29 and it sparked my interest again. Needless to say I felt very proud that I could translate Yousaka Takahashi without refering to my hirigana dictionary. So thanks alot. I'm back to teaching myself japanese now. Sorry if this whole story seems a bit lame but I really mean what I say. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
p.s.- I'm also happy to learn that Katchoo knows how to speak japanese as well!
-
It is amazing what Katchoo knows... but she's so coy about her hidden talents. Welcome to the board!
-
That's SO true...but can she tell me the winning lottery numbers for next week?
Welcome, by the by, Lil Mel...

No, but I'm sure Tambi could tell you what they for the next ten years worth of drawings. They specifically pick people who have never had any money before and go nuts buying junk and motorcycles and cruises and have family members who will come out of the woodwork for loans and lots of bitter infighting and a brother who milks the loans dry going through the money like it's water until the winner realises they've blown several millions on family members who won't pull their extended hands back in so there is an estrangement and the winner calms down and gets CPA's and attorneys to advise her on how to be responsible with what's left and seeks privacy in their new life style and ends up on Oprah talking about how winning the lottery ruined their life but you can tell they've matured and learned a hard lesson.
It's like a law of physics, it never fails.

I wish I knew that before I spent my dollar at the 7 eleven :P

but Terry! what else does Tambi have to amuse herself at nights?
-
The answer to that question might make a good issue someday.
-
uh-oh, tyledras, be careful what you wish for, you might get it!

This series needs a slumber party iss. Imagine truth-or-dare with Tambi, Kat, Fran, and Casey.
You think I'm joking?
-
That is an interesting idea...but only if there is a split story showing what the guys are doing out on the town, David, Freddie, Chuch, Brad...

I've wanted to do a slumber party ish since year one. Just put everybody in one room in their jammies and see where the conversation goes. I'll keep that one closer to my concious mind.
-
That should be the 2001 summer special issue! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif And Jax's idea is perfect. Though sometime Freddie's just gotta interupt the party in his true panty-raid style!
-
*dances around and giggles madly*
*wishes for the issue*
that would be so much fun! especially if Freddie gets thrown outside by Tambi, wearing only his underwear (he took all his other clothes off in a strip tease for Katchoo... part of a game, or just being a jerk?)
ok, sorry... *giggles*
-
It's decided then, I'm going to make this summer issue a slumber party issue. It will be SIP 42 in July. You know it a month before Diamond does, I don't solicit July until next month.
Actually, it's just an elaborate excuse to draw Freddie in a nightie.
-
WOO-HOO!!!!
thank you Terry!
(wow, maybe while i'm in italy i can even get it in Italian! talk about cool!)
-
Yay!
THe slumber party is a great idea. I can't wait. Just don't make it in color, like #33! Damn color.
-
what? #33 was the best use of color i've seen Terry do yet. that was awesome! i admit the slumber party might look better in b&w, but #33 worked well as a color issue

I'll admit that 33 was one of the better color issues, and really, it may not have worked in b&w, but i really just prefer the b & w for the most part.

This should be SO much fun...

in general i agree with you, b&w is better. but sometimes the color is a nice variation. not that i want it for the norm, mind, just every once in a while.
-
Well, I have to disagree with both of you bill and tyle(yeah, I know, BIG suprise http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif)
I loved the color in v3, #1-5, and was disappointed when Terry dropped it. #33 was the color studio 'strutting their stuff' and it was way overproduced. Everyone looked like they were made out of vinyl(ok on super hero costumes, but not human faces!) I guessed that the colorist had just sat thruough 6 back to back screenings of the Matrix http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/tongue.gif
As much as I loved the color, I'd rather see B&W than bad color, but your mileage may vary.
This is pretty cool getting the real scoop right from the source. Thanx Terry, U R kewl...

I'm in heaven! Today is my 30th birthday. It's been a good birthday overall, but it just got better. Imagine my amazement when I logged on and learned that my all time favorite author of my all time favorite work of literary fiction is going to do a summer special based on my suggestion! (Which he had been thinking of anyway, but who gives a rip? As the self-designated center of the universe, I say we concentrate on the fact that I SUGGESTED IT!!!) http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I dreaded turning thirty. Not anymore. This may sound a bit corny, but honestly, this has been the greatest birthday of my life.
Thanks, Terry, for everything you have ever given us, and for helping to make my thirtieth birthday something to remember, rather than an excuse for the blues. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Freddie in a nightie? hehe disgusting but funny non the less
-
hey I just realized how my little thank you note to Terry has morphed into a summer issue discussion. Lol that's pretty cool
-
I can't help but notice that no one has wished me a happy birthday since I last posted on this thread.
I demand satisfaction!
...or a reasonable facsimile. I'm not picky.

Thank you, Tyledras. You are a person of civility and compassion. Rock on, my friend.
Rock on, indeed.
