I installed the INJEN Race Division intake today and decided to bypass the TB with the Injen supplied coupling. Granted, their coupling was meant for the other lines deleted with the OE setup, but this works as the same. How nice, something worked for the BEST for a change.
Anyway, with the two ports left open(inlet/outlet), has anyone plugged them, or just left them open to the element? I dont see where anything could get in it, but just doing som preventative maintanance by asking.
By the way, install went somewhat easy, had to cut approx. 2" from the intake due to the JRSC. Kinda worked out OK though too. I just cut out the straight section that contained the "nipple" for the crankcase breather tube. One less hole to plug. (I used a coupling from my old AEM to join the 2 pieces). Havent driven it, its raining......we'll see here in a few days if it helps any. Im not really expecting night/day diff., just my AEM was kinda chopped up from trying different lengths of intake tracks, and my filter was looking rough.

Uhhh, thats really all i needed to ask...........anyone?

When I did mine, I left it only because I couldn't find anything to plug it up...but if you have something, do plug it just in case anything gets in (unlikely). But again, once you buy pass, you probably will never go back so never use those ports again anyhow

what are the perceivable improvements of bypassing the throttle body? The reason I ask is that I have a TB that I need to install and will probably do so pretty soon here. At that time I might as well make any related changes all at once.

Capping the two fittings with a vaccuum cap is probably not a bad idea... although not critically necessary.
Basically, all this coolant passage does is "heat" the incoming air a bit to speed up the warm up process from a cold start... designed for being more emissions friendly. Once warm, unfortunately, it continues to transfer some heat to the incoming air charge... which decreases horsepower by just a tad.

I have just left it open. It only serves to heat the TB for cold start up conditions. A spider or two may crawl in there but so what. I don't intend to ever use it again.

Any new observations on the throttle body coolant bypass?

I just smeared a little silicone into the open holes - not alot -just enough to plug 'em up.
Can also take the silicone out later should I want to revert back.

The ports on my TB are open, no problems so far...

This is an old post, someone just posted recently on it...
You can see that Tony's post was back in April or something
