This is a 91 CRX Si with a 6psi JRSC. The major factor is the Zdyne modified factory ECU that is programmable for FI Honda use. I am going to use one to pump 20psi into my Turbo ZC CRX. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Look at the torque curve! It's FLAT!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif And it's a HONDA!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

That is Shawn Church's CRX. That motor had a 130k miles on the clock also when that was done. His engine let go and he is rebiulding right now. he is hoping for 190whp with the new engine and 8psi.
I have talked with Shawn about the ECU and from what he says it looks very good. Shawn posts on TOV if you want to ask him any thing.

I still can't get over that torque curve! There's torque below 2K RPM!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif
Thanks for the feedback on that ZDyne ECU redline. I seriously am considering one.
-
Hey! No fair! My 95 LS with 70k doesnt even up out that much power! (160hp).
What's the secret? Is that the standard SI motor? Were the dyno runs done in a gear that was not 1:1 (or close) ?
Nice work though, that's impressive.
-
You have got to realize that shawn's GSR (RIP) was a standard for N/A GSR performance. He knows a lot about tuning Hondas. he worked for DPR at one point in time. He has been around for quite some time. The secret is tuning, tuning and more tuning. It is a stock engine with a stock header even!! I am not sure of the gear.

The secret is the ECU he uses Drives an LS. It is fully programmable like DFI. I think the site mentioned he gained the most power by just altering the timing advance curves. This car was making just under 150whp w/o that tunable ECU I believe.

DOODS!
I figured it out!
code10-54 is really Larry from Endyn!
nah wait, maybe not. I can't imagine him being able to talk like that.
anyone else have any ideas??

I wish I could type and talk like that. What is the secret? A steady diet of rap, blunts, and 40 oz. malt liquor?

What up Code.
I think you're mixed up man. That ain't my CRX... I wish. It belongs to Shawn Church. Known from the vtec.net community. I have two CRX's that I am affiliated with. MY own daily driver stock one (for now) that I picked up a ZC engine for yesterday (goin full blown turbo on this bad boy... built motor and all) and our 11.2 sec shop CRX racecar. I am affiliated with it becuz it sleeps in my garage sometimes and I'll take it for spins around the block. Straight up on 24.5" MH slicks and a 6" exhaust.... 6" long that is... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
That ECU is pretty sweet. Check it out at www.zdyne.com You can toss out that RRR FMU thing and adjust ALL engine parameters. Fuel mapped over Boost, ignition tables over boost.... everything. They only have it for the 88-91 Civic/CRX Si's right now.

eeehehehe..I think ebonics can be funny, but uh, um, yeah. It would take me hours to type like that (and only half that time to read it http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Much love to the imports :p

Wouldn't it be even funnier if Code 10-54 acutally talked like this in real life: "Good afternoon gents. How goes your day? I'm having a splended morning. The warm cup of jo was a refreshing splash of caffine. Anywho, ta ta for now!"
Haha!

Actually it's easy to understand what code says, don't feel like an idiot, you simply need the code translator found here:

The above is simply:

hahahahah it works to boot!!!

Whaz UP! I really don't know why yo f--kers find this here so funny. It be very simple ta translate it from english ta code.

Yep that is Shawn's water injected JRSC 91 CRX Si. It is powered by the stock 1.6 SOHC. He went from 144 whp to 167 whp after installing the Zdyne. When he made this dyno run he was running the stock block, stock header, & a 6 psi pulley. Not only are the numbers extraordinarily impressive but notice how smooth the curves are. Note that there is no spikeiness.....NO DETONATION. His car is very fast and he has pulled all the way to redline in 5th gear. I think he ran a 14.5 on street tires. All of this without VTEC or NOS....just 6 psi with only 97 cubic inches. He is now rebuilding the motor as it has over 130,000 miles on it.

That is what advancing your timing to 16 will do for you!! I think water injection is very questionable, anybody want to shed some light on this situation!!

>Redline: That is Shawn Church's CRX. That motor had a 130k miles on the clock also when that was done. His engine let go and he is rebiulding right now.
I heard from Shawn that the engine was fine. The SC gave out on a long distance high speed run. He is also working on the trans (Quaife and final drive). This will help to gain some traction back and achieve a higher top speed. A final drive change out is now necessary as he was hitting a 7100 revlimit in 5th.
>CROM: That is what advancing your timing to 16 will do for you!!
His base timing is set to 18deg BTC. The ECU is controlling the ignition advance in and out of boost.
>Marc: Note that there is no spikeiness.....NO DETONATION.
Yes. Compare directly with other SC?d civics (dynojet with the same smoothing factor). http://www.uneaqdesigns.com/civic/dyno/96EX_0-8PSI.gif
>MarkC: The secret is the ECU he uses Drives an LS. It is fully programmable like DFI.
What the LS? Who started this rumor? He is using a PM6 88-91 Si ECU (with ZDYNE's Gold SECU modification for adjustability).
>CROM: I think water injection is very questionable, anybody want to shed some light on this situation!!
Make sure you install the water injector in the appropriate position. Talk to JR about this.
-
I do not know if the SC is gone also but this from want shawn posted on TOV
The second major problem involves starting your project with a 95k mile motor. Hence today where, at 115k miles, I seized the #2 cylinder. I knew it was coming as the wrist pin had been knocking for a few hundred miles. Now the car will be down for a month or so as I build the bottom end - although I think I will stick with everything stock except for rod bolts, head studs and maybe pistons. This is based upon the advice of Oscar Jackson who has been campaigning a car similar to mine using everything stock in the block except pistons, but he's running much more boost.

Sorry for the lack of clarity. Drives an LS is a username on this board. I was just answering his question about what ECU Shawn is using. The Zdyne... I actually came across the dyno while looking through their site. I am going to send them my ECU for my Turbo-ZC CRX for the Gold SECU upgrade.
