My usual standby for checking on a name (before or behind the camera) is usually IMDb.com Sure, they ignore adult (XXX) movies, but those videos rarely NEED database listing. Is IMDb as accurate as it professes? And nope, I haven't gone to their paid "Pro" version yet.....
Hi Reved, if you look close enough on IMDB it does actually list quite a lot of XXX movies, including those directed by Fred Lincoln of Last House fame. I've actually come across (so to speak) a few of them over the years, he certainly has a talent for finding the best looking ladies to star in his films!
I'll have to look-up Fred Lincoln. Last I checked, don't have much of anything by Michael Nin, Gerard Damiano, Fred Halsted, Ron Jeremy, (and a buncha other people too). But you also have to consider the use of fake-names in the adult industry.... [img]confused.gif[/img]

Yeah, I've seen a few names on there. In some cases, they even include the actual name of the performer, place of birth, and so on. Not quite sure that's a good idea. I was also surprised (although I guess I shouldn't be) at the number of them that have died- Tina Russell, Trinity Loren, etc. I'm not a prude, and I don't think anything that consenting adults do should be censored or prohibited, but being in that industry has to put a lot of wear-and-tear on one's spirit. Particularly now, given the AIDS situation.
IMO, the early 80's would have been the dangerous time to be in adult cinema, before the disease was diagnosed & testing wasn't so readily available.
It still has to be tougher working in the industry today, with the 'gonzo' genre flooding the market. Surgical augmentation to get a job that'll likely only give one a 4-year career, of making video after video with only one-day shooting schedules.

I always thought Tina Russell was very pretty, and I think she did work with Fred Lincoln (although I could be wrong about that). I was very sad to learn she drank herself to death at a young age. I suppose one can be in the porno business and maintain their health, both physical and mental, but it seems a daunting task, to me. Maybe its the prejudice of my own upbringing, but the thought that the most intimate of human moments and interaction is being recorded for the voyeuistic delight of the entire world seems almost pathological to me. Again, I'm not trying to be judgmental. I enjoyed this stuff as I was going through the heat of adolescence, and there's a certain charm to some of the stuff from the 70's, but it just seems boring and a little sad to me now. And I agree- this surgical enhancement everybody is practicing nowadays is completely unerotic and it can't be safe. I guess it boosts the price a star can command per film but it's really distasteful to me.
about that link: please disregard the dates-of-death in regards to the AIDS list. Fuckit if I'm implicating myself, but helped a HELL of a lotta AIDS patients myself in the late 90's selling pot. Granted, I sold to a couple hippies on the side, and ocassionally took a cut for my own smoking enjoyment. So won't claim philanthropy across-the-board. But it felt better selling pot to AIDS patients so they could get the urge to eat again after chemo or whatever drug-'treatments' they receive than selling to teenagers wanting a new buzz.
Most of the guys I sold to have had HIV for over a decade, without AIDS rearing-up. But laughter might help too (Know a 13yr HIV+ hemophiliac, blood transfusion, not sex-related, probably early-40s now) who cried thanking me for making him laugh. It was because I duped a copy of "Beastiality of the Bonzo's" for him. Fuckin audio-cassettes made him laugh so much, and pot gave him the munchies, claims THAT's why he's alive today.
You raise one of the many sore points I have regarding this country- the asinine, antiquated marijuana laws. I don't smoke it, and I don't think it's totally benign, but it does have proven medicinal benefits, and that's a lot more than anyone can say for tobacco, which is legal. Alcohol also has certain medicinal properties, but it's also destroyed the lives of a lot of people I know (one girl I knew in high school- late 30's- is currently near death with a corroded liver) and it, also, is perfectly legal. Of course, you can go into a lot of the deeper political and sociological implications of all this- of how it criminalizes a whole class of people, how it supports the prison industry, etc. What it comes down to for me is we're either a free people in a free country or we aren't. If someone wants to fuck themselves up with alcohol, they have that privilege. Why have these entrenched obstructions in place when it comes to marijuana? How does any of this make any sense? I think it comes down to this same tired Puritan ethic that seems to have infected the people of this country for most of its history, but that's just my opinion. Of course, all the blame can't be put at Bush's door. After all, the Rockefeller drug laws were enacted a long time ago. But don't expect to see any progress made in this regard if this guy stays on in office.

PS- As a footnote to the porno discussion, funding for prosecutions of pornography virtually dried up under Clinton. Under Bush, we're again spending millions to prosecute consenting adults who make and/or look at porno. Again, how does any of this make any sense at all? Conservatives especially, with their vaunted sense of fiscal responsibility, should be bothered by all this, I think.
The pot laws in America are no differant than Prohibition Laws of the 20's They didn't work then and they don't work now. In a free nation where individual choice is considered a right and not a privelage this cracks me up. The main reason the government doesn't decrim or outright legalise is it would put most of the law enforcement and prison workers out of a job.

Well, it's always the "twisted meandering" discussions that keep things lively, in this board member's humble opinion. Also it's always interesting when/if David jumps in with pithy commentary of his own. As for the diversity of topics, they all deal with freedom, true freedom, and that's got to be important, particularly in this repressive day and age.
