Ok so like ages ago I jumped around here going Yay! I made it into the musical and then I basically got so busy with it I never mentioned it again, So I thought I'd give an up date.
It has been a bit of a hard slog as we lost our director over Christmas, he had to get a hip replacement.
Luckily we got a really cool director to take over in the new year and thats when all the really hard slog started.
I am one of Reno Sweeney's (famous nightclub singer) sexy fallen angels, Charity, the others are Purity, Chastity, Modesty, Grace and Virtue.
I have seen 2 of our ? 3 outfits in the making as we've had to try them on. One looks like a bit of a James Bond girl silver halterneck number, which actually looks quite good, I was having horrible visions of bustiere tops or corsets (maybe they are saving that as a surprise)
The other costume (for being a bridesmaid) was actually a shock 2 words
WHITE LEOTARD
*faints at the thought*
But wait there's more!
She then attached a lacey bustle to it so it V's in front and floats out the back. I look like the sugarplum fairy.
But wait send no money now ,order in the next 10 minutes and you'll receive...
the delightful news that you are going to have to go out and get yourself some white stockings and a suspender belt with suspenders to wear with this lovely ensemble.
So we have the situation of
Sugarplum Fairy falls on hard times and has to get a job at Showgirls.
a.k.a
The Slutty Sugarplum fairy look.
The principles are really talented and great, things are really starting to fall into place, I'm a bit disappointed the Angels only get to say Hi! Bye! and Hallelujah! but I'm sure all eye will be on us anyway due to our costumes.
I have had to Tap Dance for the first time in 15 years which has bee a challenge, I've actually become so enthused I've signed up for a Tap Class Grade 5 taught by one of the dancers in our show. I've been doing it for 3 weeks and my legs are saying NO! and I struggle a bit but I'm sure I'll get it (I hope)
AS of the weekend rehearsal 12pm 'til 10pm Whoopee! Its really starting to look good, Opening night is the saturday after this one and we only just got into the newly refurbished theatre (er, which they haven't quite finished yet so its a mess) last Thursday So the pressures on.
Will give you a new report as soon as I have anything new.

Hehe! We haven't had any pictures yet the wardrobe ladies are busy sewing at the speed of light, I got fitted for the cute little sailor shorts and top on thursday.
I found the perfect shoes for 10 bucks today they scream "bridesmaids shoes never to be worn in public ever again". I love them their hideous.
I've never had to shop for so much underwear before today, skin coloured knickers, tights, white stockings, suspenders, I think it looked like I was up to something naughty.
Now I just have to practice putting on tons of eyeliner and lashings of mascara without poking my eye out.

As those who will remember me know, my jokes are awful, Just to prove the point here is another.
S#ex Maniac Rooster
A farmer wanted to have his hens serviced, so he went to the market looking for a rooster. He was hoping he could get a special rooster--one that would service all of his many hens. When he told this to the market vendor, the vendor replied: I have just the rooster for you. Spike here is the horn#iest rooster you will ever see! So the farmer took Spike back to the farm. Before setting him loose in the hen house, though, he gave Spike a little pep talk: Spike, he said, I'm counting on you to do your stuff. And without a word, Spike strutted into the henhouse.
Spike was as fast as he was furious, mounting each hen like a thunderbolt. There was much quawking and many feathers flying, till Spike had finished having his way with each hen. But Spike didn't stop there. Spike went into the shed and mounted all of the horses, one by one, and still at the same frantic pace. Then he went to the pig house, where he did the same. The farmer, watching all of this with disbelief cried out, Stop, Spike!! You'll kill yourself!! But Spike continued, seeking out each farm animal in the same manner.
Well, the next morning, the farmer looked out and saw Spike lying there on his lawn. His legs were up in the air, his eyes rolled back, and his long tongue hanging out. A buzzard was already circling above Spike. The farmer walked up to Spike saying, Oh you poor thing, look what you did, you've gone and killed yourself. I warned you little buddy. Shhhhhhh, Spike whispered, The buzzard's getting closer

Oh dear its all going down hill in here isn't it I better get it back on track. By the way you know none of this behaviour inspires me to post pictures when i get them.
It has been a week of hell, rehearsing every night this week and not getting to bed before 1am, then getting up at 6.30 to go to work. by final dress rehearsal night I still didn't have one of my costumes.
Our costumes now include a lovely pale pink halterneck day dress with a lovely white hat, and a purple bathing suit with a floaty little 30'2 style over shirt which we only do up the top button of. Now I know we're all wearing 40 denier dancers tights but did my bathing suit have to be the highest cut of everyones. What's funnier is that that is the costume in which the Angels spend the whole number shimmying up to the sailors. Have already had one sailor complain he couldn't concentrate on the singing due to the shimmying.
Important fact I found out on Wednesday was that my strapless bra does not stay up when I tap dance have done something about it since, this usually involves being pinned into my dress. Minor hiccup on wednesday when the Angels thought we had heaps of time and missed the scene entirely, Reno had to talk to herself. I also ran into a chair and we also had a collision with a couple of dancers as they came off and we came on.
Saw one scene in costume on thursday that I'd never seen in costume before and have to say was not what I was expecting to see. Was quite shocked to peer thru the curtain and find Lance standing on stage dressed only in a pair of Y fronts and a sword. *LMAO*
In saying that there seems to be quite a bit of flashing of underwear in this musical (not mine thank goodness)Marisa just about falls out of her dress everytime she falls off the bed, black suspenders and all.
Had friday night off Hurray! had a massage (which I think made everything hurt more) and went to bed.
The worst part has been because the theatre was getting a 2 million dollar refurbishment was that it wasn't finished yet. We only got in 2 weeks before today, the seats in the theatre weren't bolted in til tuesday. The lighting plot was done on monday and on tuesday the builders took it all down again. The side of the stage have been full of buiding material and a good deal of the set painting hadn't been finished on thursday. On final dress rehearsal night we still didn't have an intercom so you had no way of knowing what was happening on stage.
Still It'll be alright on the night! held true and yesterday was our big opening, in front of all the trust members, the mayor, hte people with the money. The set looked fantastic, admittedly a couple of people were being almost sewed into they're costumes. It all went really well, 'tho I went to smile when I first stepped on stage and I could feel my lips shaking, Grant who was standing right next to me came up to me at half time to ask if I was alright because I looked that nervous when I first walked on stage, but he was the only one who noticed because he was standing so close. Then we got into the swing of things, we lost the beard in the middle, but Jason covered this large discrepancy in the plot admirably. I finally remembered all my dance steps, the Angels got a huge cheer at the end, Jason's fly was undone when he came out for his curtain call Oops! Lyn as Reno was fabulous as usual and now I know why, she's done this professionally in Chicago, Toronto, London and New York.
We partyed 'til 2am this morning, and the rest of the season is going to be great.

WOO HOO! Way to go, CB!
