sometimes i'm just so bored with this....
I feel like making a pun about being 'bored' about a 'board'.
But i'll refrain, i actually have a nice thing to talk about which i'll post when i can put it in words.
i'm actually surprised this thread warrented a response.
sometimes i hafta come here and check my pulse
If God exists, then we probably don't have the capacity to understand how we fit into the overall scheme of everything.
If God exists, would God be annoyed that we expect more than our time on earth?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">why not?Quote:

how does the previous negate the latter???
We could use a pet analogy.
Your pet is thrilled to have you around. You provide food, shelter, compassion...quite a package. They may think of you as God, but you know better.
We may be the pet when it comes to evaluating who we are in relation to God.

what could that say of the free will debate?
Religions don't tolerate the existence of other religions and therefore have an endemic fatal flaw they can't seem to overcome, tolerance of things different from themselves.
On the other hand, non-believers may be more likely to act more selfishly as they get older, and that could be a fatal flaw far worse than any religion.
As for the free will debate, I don't feel like discussing that right now.
my question wasn't prompted to rehash free will
rhetoric.... but to get you to support your own
statement. if you feel that it is possible we are
like that of pets to a god, then how does free
will interact with that?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quit posting cliches and back up what you sayQuote:

i HATE having to pull teeth in an argument, it
makes it boring
Haven't you ever heard of "Finding God on death's door"? It seems like a logical extension that if someone doesn't believe in God, they might be more apt to go out in a big way.
Unless of course you're the taliban.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">if we were to continue with that logic, it wouldQuote:

seem like another extension that only god-believers
would believe/say such a thing
I'm not following your point. People who don't believe in a God may not care what happens to the planet and it's inhabitants as they age.
However, I also pointed out that at least one religion believes that if one suicide bombs that one gets rewarded in heaven.
Somehow, even though I tried to point out pro's and cons, you seem to think I was taking only one position.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">this statement has no foundation on ANY statistic...Quote:

its completely made up in your head.
this could be true of anyone, regardless of
stance on A god.
i'm really...... reeeeeally sick of the pathetic
*they don't believe in god so they must not care*
rhetoric that is so commonplace amongst peoples
brains.... someone needs to do a thorough cleaning
of that region -- if people truly believe that.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">why bring christianity into this???Quote:

Christianity? I was taking the taliban.
The point being I refuted my own premise by showing that if people believe being violent on earth can lead to rewards in heaven, then the idea that non-believers would do more harm to the planet than believers has to be exorcised.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">christians.... the taliban... whats the difference?Quote:

and your refutation is a generalization in disguise
your 'specific' has yet to be shown how its 'specific'....
It's not a generalization because I gave a specific example.
I've given several specifics, I think you may be right, you are bored by the topic, too bored to pay attention.
