Is this even possible?

Very possible... just with the right internals.

Super easy.
Well, that all depends on how deep your pockets are. :-)

But think closely why...
Higher RPM's don't do much good, unless you shorten the gears, and move the power band up higher.
With FI, I'd rather make more torque through the whole power band I have, than move power above 8100.

Yea, what lundgren said...
It will be very hard to get the supercharger to give a usable powerband up that high. A turbo setup would love a higher redline since you can just increase turbo size and efficiency, therefore peaking torque and HP later in the powerband. With the JR kit, you're going to lose alot of efficiency when you try to make more than 6-7psi towards 9000 RPM on a 1.8L motor.
Spend the money on turning up the boost, tuning, and making your engine run safer.
The 10 second atomic car with the JRSC shifts at 9,500 rpm, so it can't be all bad.
Well... the problem I could see with that is that you'd be spinning the SC another 12% faster or something; it might not give you any more boost because the engine is consuming more air, but it will certainly get you a nice hot intake charge and if you drive it up to 9000 frequently I bet it does wonders for the reliability of the blower.
put it this way, i miss shifted a few times and got readings on my v-afc of like 8450,and i hate when i run it past like 8100-8200.
my car pulls like hell, i have the vtec set at 5000.when the v-tec kicks in at 5000,it turns into a friggin' beast.

Does the Atomic JRSC powered car have an Endyn reworked M62?
If that's the case, the efficiency of the blower is actually increased, so I could see it making usable power up that high. A "stock" M62 blower at 6-8psi on a B18C will do a really good job at heating the bejezus outta the air, but not at making usable pressure.
I also believe the rotors of the blower would start breaking the sound barrier, or very close to it, so you'd have wonderful reliablility(as someone already stated) and a really hard time tuning it.
What I'm getting at is it's much more monetarily efficient to just make more boost with the blower and deal with the fuel issues of the JR kit instead of just being concerned with how far your tach is spinning.
9000 RPM redline sure sounds cool and gives you "bragging rights," but it doesn't necessarily make your car faster, and it DEFINITELY doesn't make it more reliable.
I guess I'm just gonna go with a 8LB boost, but a 9000 rpm would kick ass. If it made power up that high.

Only reason I would want a 9000 rpm redline is so I can hit 60 in second gear (ITR tranny on a GSR)... that would knock SO much off my 0-60 time. =)
Other than the bragging rights, I see no positive reason to rev the motor this high. The valvetrain stresses increase dramatically above 8000 rpm... so to make the top of the motor bullet-proof would be quite expensive. In addition, there is no such thing as a camshaft that makes power from 4000 to 9000... so you would lose some power down in the midrange to have the proper grinds to make power all the way up at 9K. For example: compare the GSR to the Type "R" shafts... the powerband is moved up in the rpm range... the "R" doesn't have more useable power, it is just higher up.

Isn't it true that running 8psi essentially means turning the blower 25% faster than at 6psi? I mean, if changing the pulleys is all it takes to get the boost up, what else could that possibly mean? If so, I don't see blower rpm being a factor in this case.
JRSC+9000RPM=KaaaaaBOOOOOOOM! >>... driving home while leaving a trail of smoke. Maybe a race modified setup, but for normal use just use more boost with TALLER gearing = less RPM to go fast.
