My friend jacked his Integra up by pushing up on the floor to the right of the jack-point at the front of the car (right behind the front wheels, and NOT the recommended jack point). Now, the floor seems a little "pushed up" and it seems to be interfering with the mechanism that releases the trunk and the fuel release. Is there any way to correct this?

Haha. That sounds like a good idea. I'll let him know! Out of curiosity, can the mechanism for the trunk release/fuel release be moved for this process? Or should we just work around it?
I believe it can be moved... you must first remove the cover to access the mounting points for the bracket which holds both release cables... I just cannot remember if it is held in place with a bolt or rivets.

Suggest to your friend (in a very persuasive manner) that he should use the JACK POINTS in the future... and this damage (and heartache) will not occur again.
Use a small piece of 2x4 and place it inside the car opposite the pushed up area... then hit it with a big F@#king hammer !!! You may have to remove the sill plate and the carpet to get at everything necessary. The trick here is NOT to hit a direct point, but rather spread the hammer's energy over a larger area... and not make indentions in the metal from the hammer face or a screwdriver.
I think his complaint is that if he uses his hydraulic jack to lift the car from the front end, then use the jack points for the jack stands, he can't get the car high enough to work underneath the car (and still use a creeper). I have a similar problem with my car, but luckily, I haven't had the same problems with a pushed up floor.
We've both tried using the side jack points (in front of the rear wheels) to jack the car up higher, but that doesn't work so well either.
Any advice on how I might be able to avoid this problem if I'm jacking my car up in the future? How about using a block of wood to distribute the force of the jack across a larger area?
my jack wouldnt even fit under my car and some of my friends cars so we just drive em up onto 2x4's, then go up another step of 2x4's until the car is bout 3 inches off the ground on the pieces of wood, then i slide the hydraulic jack underneath and lift that sucker up as high as it can go, then i slide jackstands underneath the side jack points.

it's not so much that his jack (or mine) won't fit under our cars. . .it's that even when the jack is raised to its highest position, it's still only high enough to insert jack stands set to their lowest setting. this barely gets the wheels off the ground and can be a real pain. buy a bigger jack to lift it after u raise it up a lil with your current jack?
I jack mine up to the highest point on the jack, then set the jackstands in place. I then use a 4x4 block of wood on the jack to increase it's usable range.
It's a bitch of a process, but it's the only way I've been able to get the car high enough to do 2 clutches, an oil pan gasket, and various other silly things that cause me to have to jack the car up.

Damn guys...I bought a JRSC and all these other goodies that are expensive but I wont drop the dollars on a decent jack [img]smile.gif[/img] ..haha just kidding...at least for safeties sake and ease of use get yourself a decent jack!!!...I have a craftsman 3 1/2 ton jack and I love it!!!...it raises up to the car in one stroke, it has the full length handle that releases when twisted...and I can lift my car high enough from the from or rear lift point to do pretty much anything...like dropping the tranny...get someone to give it to you as a christmas present!!!!...you can usually find it for less than $100 on sale at sears
