C.O.T. is ALWAYS watching, FOCKER!!!
Just heard from my good buddy drumaddict that the Vinster should be on the Leno show tonight playing with country artist Keith Urban. Urban's regular guy is out with Deana Carter so Vinnie is filling in on this "one off".

Anyone see this? Being lost in X-Box world caused me to miss it...
I saw it. Strange to see Vinnie behind a kit in natural finish!
It was good. Played with brushes, but "normal" playing, not jazz "swish" style, if you know what I mean.
i was lucky enough to flip to the tonight show right when leno was introducing them. he played a really nice but simple groove. i loved looking at the rest of the band and vinnie, the rest of the band were much younger looking. it reminded me of when i was in a punk band and i looked like a frat guy.
Can anyone post the performance on this site? Anyone record it?
When watching, I couldn't help but think, "I wonder if these three guys have any idea who they're sitting next to". It was a very nice, relaxed performance. It's still just amazing to me how, no matter what environment he's in, you just HAVE to watch.
Oh, and he's finally looking every bit his age. (ONLY looking)
Have any of you ever wondered what the current crop of cats (Vin, Weck, Virg, etc) will sound like when they get up in their 60's and beyond? When I think of Buddy Rich and Louie Bellson, I just think of the natural difference in their playing because of the body aging......just a random thought.
Firstly, thanx 4 the heads up, Chris.
I rec'd it to VCR/VHS [don't know how to convert it & post it, sorry guys/un-PC savvy...if some1 can help me out ]...
It was a basic contempo "country" [folk/lite-lite rock, really]/acoustic-guitar/balladesque tune in 4/4, w a 1/2-time feel, 1/4 = approx 80-81... K/RF on 1, "&" of 3...hands- snare, 16ths w brushes, accents on the 2 / "a" of 2 / "e" of 3 / 4...
Amazingly, the camera gave Vinnie the opening shot of the tune/segment, a long one of almost 15 seconds, from his R/FT side, starting w a close-up of his hands on the snare, & gradually zooming out to his whole body/kit...several decent shots of the Vinmeister...he was set up to the R of the other 4 guys at an angle [stage R; our L]...it was a 5 pc. band, looked like 4 strg elec bass, "Urban" on acou 6 strg gtr, another acou-elec gtr, & elec keys...Vinnie was playing a 6 pc natural wood fin [light beige wood, like a cream color, sorry, dont know that partic fin name] Gretsch...what looked like 3 crash [or 2 & a china], 1 splash, & ride...
Vinnie did look like the pro seasoned veteran compared to the other guys, who were wearing blue jeans & what looked like black T's, except for Urban, who was wearing some sort of [jack ] black leather stage shirt...Vinnie was in all black...however, it was NOT the famed jogging outfit w T ...
Funny thing is, in the very 1st bar of the tune [not counting the intro/drum fill lead-in] it almost sounded like Urban's acou gtr & the snare didn't jive, or something...[Vinnie starts the tune w a drum fill lead-in: 2 sn accent hits on the 4-e]...then the DB on 1, the sn acc on 2, then VC did a 32nd-note flourish over "3-e-&" [with the accent on the kick on the "&"], & it almost sounds like VC is actually draggiing it a p-hair it on the "a" of 2 or on the 3...it's a subtle "feel" thang...
I thought VC "looked good for his age." [No dis intended.]
...Plaid quote: "When watching, I couldn't help but think, 'I wonder if these three guys have any idea who they're sitting next to'..."
Exactly. [But I bet a lot of those Nash boyz do...]

Fuses assesment of the spot was dead on,although i didnt notice the flub.
Great understated playing by Vinnie.
Can u get his signature kit with that wood finish??
Its totally freaky to me to have all this genius Vinnie drumnistic material on my hard drive/cd/video/tape. Then i see him play simply and its just....i dont know amazing,i guess discipline comes with age.
By the way the song licked donkey-balls.

Yes! Thanks for the heads up.
I just clicked over right be they started.
It was nice to see Vinnie so relaxed.
I'm sure it wasn't that hard of a gig.
Most of us could of played it....
I like the natural finish. Nice warm look.
I'm sure these guys knew who they were playing with.
I can here their manager saying "Be cool with this guy...He could kick you all the back to your daiper days".
Flam - LOL, your last statement...
...but seriously...
Compared to him, musically speaking, they ARE STILL in their "diaper daze"

Thanks a million Shedder!!! Very much appreciated!!!
Vinnie will also be on the Sharon Osborne show March 12th again with Keith Urban. He's filling in for a couple dates while the regular drummer finishes a tour with Deanna Carter.
Perfect!
Thanks Shed .
sorry to be an arse but how can I play this .mp4 file? It opened up in Real Player and then tried to 'download additional softeware', but to no avail.
What are you lot using to play this clip?
Thanks in advance. D
Quicktime works for me on my Mac.
Thanks Shedder!
Cheers Blake, got it. Beautiful playing. Thanks Shedder for this. Just out of interest, is it easy to convert video files? How is it done?
Shedder rocks! Thanks for the clip. Vinnie definitely looked a bit more clean-cut for this performance than I'm used to seeing him.
THANKS ALOT SHEDDER!!!!!
VC NEVER lets me down
Dazzler, download Quicktime to play the MP4. As to making clips, it's fairly easy. Just take and import a video file into the computer and edit it using whatever program such as Vegas, Premier or a host of others, render it as an mpeg or quicktime movie file and you are good to go.
Thanks for sharing shedder...
But, Nobody has nothing to tell about the band or the song?
I like the song pretty much. While I was watching the video, the melody and music made me forget about who is playing...
I didn?t know about this artist and I like it. I will check more music from him.
Thanks again, cheers for sharing !!
It?s nice to open this forum everyday and find good material on video, audio, words...
keep sharing guys.
I have some live audio material from a Weckl gig here in Spain in 2002. The sound is good and the playing...well...you?ll listen to it. Soon I will post it.
Bye
Juan Expo,
Check out more of Keith Urban right here!.
The song they played is from a cd called Golden Road.
Good modern Country music, Matt Chamberlain and Chris McHugh both play on it
Later,
EB

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Chers Randy, I'm sure that once you put your film into one of the progs you mentioned it is fairly stright forward to render it, but it's getting the clip onto your pc that I wouldn't have a clue about!Quote:

Thanks Shedder!!!!
Well Dazz you need a video input of some kind. A "Video In" jack, or see if you have a "Firewire" port too. You can input video through a video camera that also has a firewire jack on it.
You need an audio input as well, but audio in jacks are more common.
You are right, I left out the most important part, sorry. http://www.hostboard.com/forums/
Thanks to Shedder!!!!
Did anyone hear what i was talking about in my 1st post on pg. 1 of this thread? [I realize it's probably TABOO...like saying "Jesus made a mistake," or something...OK, I exaggerate MUCH - maybe not QUITE that analogy ...or am i just "splitting [p] hairs" [as in LAdanny's blushda ] ...or just plain "hearin' things!"
[Edit:] OK, I just looked at the clip of it that shed posted, & realized...the part in ? at the very beginning is spliced off of it [not complaining, it's just that i managed to set the ol' VCR thanks to the heads up]...so, OK, i'm not crazy just yet [perhaps]....
