I'm getting a late start (1:24 A.M.), but I think I'll get there in time.

Most of you know I have been job hunting for the past year. In the meantime I have done unemployment, temporary agencies, part time jobs, etc.

Next week I start a new full time position. I will be doing office work (secretarial work) with the potential of some web site work, PC support, etc. I'm looking forward to it because the company is small, supportive, flexible, and casual.

Unfortunately, a few days before the job was offered I also accepted a one month teaching position three nights a week. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem. I could handle teaching while starting a new job. Except....I was asked to fill in as the teacher of Intro to Finance. What I know about Finance, monetary systems, assets, investments, macro finance, business, and personal finance is pretty much limited to my checkbook and a tour of the U.S. Mint a couple summers ago. So I've been cramming!!!

Anyway, all this means for the next month, between a new job, an unfamiliar class, and the holidays, I won't be in much, but I'll try to pop by at least once a week. It is good to see you folks again.

From what I read the issuse is time. The folks running hostboard don't have a ton of time and this is too draining

Taping the 2nd of the episodes of Dune this evening. Want to wait till I have all the eps taped before I watch them. Can't account for the dialogue & script yet, but a few of the scenes I have glimpsed seem impressive.

Anyone here planning on watching it?

I saw a little bit from the first night and about 10 mins. from last night's installment. I like what little I've seen so far (especially some of the FX), however, I'm not fond of the actress' (sorry...don't know her name) portrayal of Lady Jessica.

I've only glimpsed Lady Jessica (Saskia Reeves) and Duke Leto Atreides (William Hurt) so far. I didn't recognize Hurt at first, & I'm not familiar with Saskia Reeves.

OK, PC told me to download ICQ. I did that for an hour last night, asked Rantarn to give me access to grammin' him, and now I can't find my control panel. How do I bring it up????? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif

Oh, Ran, If the number I sent you was a porno site, sorry. I rec'd a link gram from one immediately upon setup, and it appeared on my panel, front and center. I may have given you that number by mistake, almost did with PC. Realised it and stopped the gram immediately. Since then no ICQ panel. Kimball, first you didn't send me any such site (not that I would have complained http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif so don't worry.

As for your control panel, you should just be able to turn on icq and enter your password if you use one. Then you'll get the little flower icon down in the lower right hand corner of your taskbar. Double click on that to bring up the icq panel. There are some options you can set as well to keep the icq panel on top if you want or brought up for different things.

Let me know if you're still having problems.

But how do you turn it on??? I have an Icon on my desktop (ICQ2000b.exe) but that just wants to install again.

Everytime I shutdown windows, it says I have an ICQ message, do I really wanna shut down before reading it, of course, I have no option of accessing it to read before shutting down, ROTFLOL.

Kimball, can you start icq as you would any other program - just go to Program on the task bar and then to icq to start it? Does that work?

I should mention also that I can see you on icq. So that must mean it has been turned on.

Kimball, you probably have it set up so that it turns itself on when you connect to the internet. See if you have a little flower icon in your bottom taskbar bud.

CT, if you consistantly have trouble loading a topic, then we should start a new one. Consistantly means at least two separate times. So that if the board just happens to be slow that night or your ISP happens to be a slow connection we don't start a new topic.

My overall suggestion would be to start it after 100 posts. That seems to be the norm at Hostboard. *shrugs* But it is really up to all of you.

P.S. Just so you all know, only time I am going to *moderate* is when something is really really offensive and most of the board wants it gone, or if someone starts spamming us and we want it gone. I'm taking more of a hands off approach here. I really do want us all equal here. So if you want to see something, just let me know and I will do my best to accomodate.

I will answer my own question. I simply refresh the screen. The system probably pulls up a historical copy of the page and I see what I saw last time I was on that page, so refreshing it bring up the new posts. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
