Oooboy !!! Are there any X-Files fans ? I've seen all of the 7th season but cause I'm from the UK and have only terrestial tv I won't see the 8th for yonks !!!

Sorry, I watched it for awhile, but have watched it last year or two.
I watched up until the season after the movie. I just lost interest....
I have to admit I'm not such a big fan anymore, but I still love it !!! I think its cause there is hardly any merchandise being generated anymore. David Duchovny leaving didn't help (even though Mulder irritated me at times).
I have all the boxsets and will carry on getting them. Over here in the UK, the BBC which airs the X-Files has slung it back on BBC 2, so its lost its status now...

I like the conspiracy stuff on X-Files, but not really the horror aspect of it. So I tended to watch more of the conspiracy eps, when I did watch.
I've been watching, though it's slipped a lot for me. Doggitt's okay, seems like a good agent and a good guy to have on your side, but he's no Mulder. Seems Doggit's taken over Scully's old role of non-believer and Scully is now the one who figures everything out.
BTW, I actually prefer the regular eps to the conspiracy stuff. How many times can you have the colonizing aliens appear anyway? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
I was a fan up till just before the movie, then I stopped watching on a regualr basis, no fault of the TV show, but life happend and I started doing other things. (I really like it when it was on Fridays rather than Sundays), so I lost track of the storyline. Ive been watching again recently and I rather like Dogget, plus Gillian Anderson is getting to do more that Mulder is gone.
Im a bit surprised the show has lasted, it really hit the end of the story arc about the time of the movie, but I guess its got a second life.
My all time fave episode is the one focused on Cancer Man (He has a name now, but thats after my lapse), I loved it that he was the one on(near) the grassy knoll.
I loved the story arc. When the story arc seemed to finish, my interest wanned (sp)
The non-arc episodes were decent but there were way too many of them. But that is me.
An xgf turned me on to the show during the first season. I started watching it regularly until about the third season and then just watched it sporadically.
My fave episode is probably the one that William Gibson helped write. Where the AI takes over the defense satellites and starts trying to destroy the disc that would help the cyber chic enter the cyber world.
I really liked the movie and it sort of renewed my interest in the show.
Jace, that one and the Cancer Man ep were my two favorites. I also liked the Lone Gunmen.
There was one episode where Cancer Man and his background were explained. How he was recruited to shoot JFK and M.L. King. Why he started smoking.
Its told in a series of flashbacks as he writes he memoirs(In the form of a fiction novel).
During the episode, he gets the patch to quit smoking, and prepares his resignation from the "agency" letter, which he will post when his story is published.
I wont give more away, ive only seen it once and it doesnt seem to be rerun much.
Which Cancer Man episode? He was part of the on-going mythology until recently wasn't he? I liked the episode with the Lone Gunmen at the trade show tracking down the girl that came on to the "normal" looking gunman.
I'm not real good at remembering the names of particular episodes.
I also like the episode with Giovanni Ribisi (sp?). Where he gets powers from being struck by lightning.
I must have missed that one. Which season is it from?
One of my favorite X-Files hosted Darren Mcgavin (Remember him from the Nightstalker?)
as an aged former X-Filer. It was interesting to see good ole Carl Kochak, Scully, & Muldar on the screen together.

Yeah Jasoom, thats a good one too. I liked the Night Stalker. Didnt Chris Carter once say that was his inspiration for X-Files?
There was an RP Game out, ive never played it but I have a friend (real RPG freak) who did, out years before x-files, called "Stalking the Night Fantastic!" where you played FBI agents investigating supernatural occurances. According to him the idea behind the game was better than the rules though.

Yes, I've heard of it. The person running the D&D game I was involved in back in...the early 80's tried to get the group to play.
We made up characters, but never really got into playing too much.

Hey there Shadowjack, not sure, but here's a few background tidbits. Carl Kolchak started out as a novel called the 'Kolchak Tapes', written by journalist Jeff Rice in the1960's. The novel came to the attention of producer/director Dan Curtis (known for his work on "DARK SHADOWS"). Curtis brought Kolchak to the screen & chose the famed Richard Matheson (The Twilight Zone, Star Trek), to handle the script, and thus, the 'Night Stalker' was born.
I use to be such a die hard fan of X-Files but after the first season it turned into more of a horror show. I wasn't that impressed with the movie either. Maybe my expectations were too high.
Saw the first show of the new season. It lost me. Left me wondering if T2000 was brought in to give it a more scifi feeling? That didn't work for me.
I think its gone on well past its lifespan. They are retreading old episodes, and the eerie feeling the show used to have has become all too familiar.
I want to check out the "Lone Gunmen" though, that might be funny!
Yep. The episode with the CSM was called "Musings of a Ciagrette Smoking Man"-- season 4. It was a great showcase for Bill Davis, he is really underused for all the screen time he gets. I think the interesting part about this episode is the character is given some depth; he's not just a strictly evil caricature.
I would have to really play fast an loose if I were to pick a single favorite episode; I think it would have to be the 2 parter 'Sein und Zeit" and "Closure". But then Again, the whole mytharc of "Biogenesis" "Amor Fati" and "Amor Fati: The Sixth Extinction" is stellar. Oh, wait-- "Post Modern Promethius" is a stand out.
Nope, dont think I can pick out one, but I can say that if Alex Krycek has a decent speaking line, it definitely ranks in the 90th percentile.....
