Lyta...have you checked out the newly referbished Spanking Machine in PATD?

TNT had commissioned a Witchblade sereis at the same time as Crusade and treated it about as well as they did Crusade. I have no idea if it ever aired.
PC and Nommy,
Just read something on Witchblade this morning. They've filmed 8 out of 11 planned episodes. There's individual episodic crimes, but there's an overall Arc to it. The first episode is supposed to Air June 12 and it stars Yancy Butler.
OK, not going to watch it, its on TNT
If it doesn't interfere with an other show I watch, I may watch it. Cool.
I dont know if any of you have been there already, but PAN HISTORIA a new site run along the same lines as the old TSV is now beta testing. Just register and see what you think - it's got faults, but it's the closest thing I've seen yet......Check it out!
Wizz,
Since I don't RP, I normally don't go to the PATD, but if I do, I'll make sure I wear some protection for that area! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Well, Lyta, I guess that means you didn't see the Birthday dances that Nommy and I performed for you?
My! A woman of few words!
LOL Wizz. Must be a telepathic message.

Whatever you do, don't go to the Zocalo at CZ. There is a mouse freeze going on there right now. The only way I could back out was to shut down my internet connection.
I didn't have the mouse freeze problem at CZ, but I didn't stay long, either. Nobody there. Bummer. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif
I'm really not one to toot my own horn. However, this weekend a good friend of mine and I went on an airplane trip to Nevada. We have done this every year for the last three years, and intermittantly since 1991. The purpose of the flight is to fly a small plane (this year it was a Cessna 172 "Skyhawk II") from Hayward, Calif. to Bakersfield, Calif., then to Laughlin, Nevada. Laughlin is about 15 miles north of the southern tip of Nevada. Nothing there but casino's, a shopping mall, and an airport. We're tasked with figuring out how much time (in seconds) and fuel (1/10's of a gallon) we will take to fly from Hayward, to Bakersfield as one leg, then Bakersfield to Laughlin as the second leg. Along the way for each leg we have to find 3 checkpoints (missing one costs 250 points) plus one bonus point (getting it means an additional 20 points) that is somewhat tricky. Each leg counts on it's own, so if you're late to the first but early to the second, you lose points on both; they don't cancel out.
Time to Bakersfield: 25 seconds early = -25
Fuel to Bakersfield: est. 28.4 used 28.5 = -10
Found all check points and bonus point = +20
Bakersfield run: -15
Time to Laughlin: 5 seconds early = -5
Fuel to Laughlin: est. 29.9 used 29.8 = -10
Found all check points and bonus point = +20
Laughlin run = +5
Total points: -10
Second place came in with -90 points, and they were 2nd last year, 1st the year before, and 2nd the year before that.
We did pretty good...in fact, we did damn good, all things considered. Trophy is ~3ft. tall, plus we won using a rental plane with most of the particpants using their own plane, so we got a plaque for best rental, too. I'm kind of psyched up about this. So, I thought I'd share some good news.

Most awesome bud! *hugs* http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Very cool Wizz. (hugs)
Way to go Wizz!
BTW...I just read about a 7,000 gallon Margarita being created down in Margaritaville at Universal CityWalk, Orlando Fl.
Way to go, Wizz! Congrats! Wow, that must be tough with dealing with all the variables involved, not to mention a plane you aren't all that familiar with!
anybody know what's up with Speculative Vision? I know the site was moving to a new server, but now the URL leads to some bizarro message about computer hackers and the FBI.
i'd query the master, but that means finding the new URL for the site, which would kind of make the question moot.
Iz,
I just tried it, http://www.speculativevision.com/forum works for me.
*Sigh*
Well, I guess that was the good news. The air race, that is. Today one of the directors at work asked me and a co-worker to visit with the VP of HR. Meetings with HR during rumors of another layoff are generally not a good thing. However, as it turns out, I'm employeed until July 23, and I'm not required to show up. Matter-of-fact, my network login has been deactivated, company email is inaccessable, the ports to my cube and those around me (empty) have been disconnected, and the id card that opens the doors no longer works.
Looking back on it, I knew it was coming, figured I was one of the "targets" (there's one left that will stay in Santa Clara now), and to be honest, I wasn't happy with the ruling group of good-ol'-boys on the other coast. So instead of being laid off, I ended up with an 8 week paid vacation. One job is lined up for the middle of June, and if it doesn't come to pass, I've got a few weeks of shopping myself around Silicon Valley. Plus, the last time I was laid off, I got a job within two weeks that turned out to be better than what I'd had. So, this small, dark cloud has one heck of a silver lining. Like the air race post, I figured I'd share this with ya'll.

*hugs* Good luck bud!
hey, wizard--
well, it is never easy dealing with a potential layoff, but it seems like you intend to stay one jump ahead, which is the best thing you can do. i learned that the hard way when one job contract was coming to an end and i hadn't spent enough time laying down something to replace it. but the next time it happened, i had several other sources of employment lined up and it turned out not to be too bad. so take their money, their time, and use it to protect yourself.
Thanks, Asis
And, really, to the rest of you, too. First place in the air race is an accomplishment both of us (Tony and myself) have talked about for years. We both knew we could do it, but damn...during the awards ceremony, going up from 15th to 1st, each time an award was announced and we weren't named, got our hopes up even more. Then, we considered that maybe we screwed up our time somewhere and we weren't even in the running. Then they announced "Best Rental" at fifth place. We got up and got our plaque, and tried to figure where we were in the running. Eighth place was last years winner, and the were also renters. Wasn't until they announce third place that I knew we hadn't screwed up, and it was between two other guys at our table and ourselves. "Damn, Tony...we did it!" when the 2nd place trophy was announced.
Ok, forgive me for reliving the past. There are times when first place does make a difference in your life.
Thanks again, Asis, for the *hugs*. As they say..."Thanks, I needed that!".
Hi Whiz,
Way to go on the win. As far as the layoff goes, I have faith you can be back to work before you wanna be, programming and engineering jobs are pretty plentiful in Silicon Valley. Engineers usually get caught in bidding wars by their prospective employers. The Grey owl Wizzard crosses his feathers for ya

Congrats and best wishes, Wizz. Your luck most likely wont run out that fast.
MERLE and PC, can you send me an email with your current addresses. I sent out a blanket update email today and you two came back as non-existent persons. My email is the same as it always has been: [email protected]
Thanks
Wizzard,
1) Congratulation on your win. I know how much it means to you.
2) Condolences on your job. I'm sure you will be back to work soon.

Somebody should have labeled the future 'Some assembly required.'
Just wondering if anyone is still around. It's been 4 days since anyone posted. Did everyone go out of town for memorial day weekend?
Who could post? The site's been down since sometime Saturday.
Hey HEY!
The site's back up!
Yippee!!!
We are back!!!
And, of course, greeting me as soon as I arrived was Lyta and her wonderful JMS Speaks posts. Thank you, Lyta!
Hope everyone here is well and happy.
I'm going to go click through on a banner ad so our host can prove that he has his loyal posters back.
All the best,
Polly
This is a test. My first message didn't take.
If this one takes, hi to all & nice to have the board back up.
The new host has officially taken over!
And there will probably be some kinks for a few days.
But it's nice to be home http://www.pwrhouse.com/ubb/smile.gif
Well, good news. The site is back up! Oh, yeah...I found a place to work again. Slightly off topic for "Anything", but once you start something, you're supposed to finish it, and that includes the ongoing story of good news, bad news, good news again.
It was kind of nice to have a 3 week vacation (yeah, paid) before plunging back into the world of startup's. Four days so far and I've got more projects than I know what to do with. First thing is going around and meeting all the people working here (within reason, that is) as I'll be working with all the departments while still doing technical assistance center (TAC) work. It's the same as the last two jobs, but this time I'm the first one hired for TAC. Can't really take too much time online from work, but in reality, I suppose that's a good thing. Just have to tell the computer hogs at home they have to do something else when I get home (and after Babylon 5 is over). Life is good.
Doin' alright,
Gettin' good grades,
The future so bright,
I gotta wear shades...

Yeah, it's a repeat, but look what a positive attitude will get ya.
http://www.pwrhouse.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Congrats Wizz! KNock'em dead!
Have fun Wizz.
It's great to be back!
Congrats Wizz (hugs)
Belated welcome back (grins)
Wheee!!!!
