For all of those who have been trying to reach me in the last 48 hours...
Motorvations Motorsports is a tragic victim of the recent horrific weather phenomenon passing through the southeast. Nearly 11 inches of rain fell in less than four hours, which ended up being far more water than the nearest dam could handle. The levy broke, and the onslaught of water blanketed over forty businesses in my district... including mine. When the water crested, FORTY-FIVE inches was inside my building !!! Matt and I frantically attempted to pile everything perishable as high as we could... but it was no use. Nearly all is lost.
The Black H/B and the Nighthawk are dead... the Blackbird and Aurora engines are full of water... the H22A coupe ran roughly yesterday, but failed to crank today. The Del Sol, the Z28 and the race car are destroyed. Nothing below the waterline survived... the devastation is utterly sickening.
The GOOD NEWS, if there is any, is I refuse to give up. I am dedicated to this sport and I will find a way to pick up the pieces and carry on. The out-pouring of help and kindness from many locals, as well as a few from far away, has galvanized my resolve... and although I have literally lost everything, I am still alive... and I WILL carry on.
The phones are still down in the area, so for those of you who may be waiting on parts, or the fill of orders, please try to contact me after Wednesday of next week. The phone company tells me we will have service by then. Keep in mind that since I have lost all computers and notes, invoices, etc., I have no way of reaching out to any of you. Thank you all for your patience, understanding and cooperation during this trying time.
I will be in touch.
Jim

Jim, I am so sorry. I can't begin to express the sorrow that I feel. I am confident that you will succesfully recover from this tragedy. If you need something, please let me know.
-
Cars can be replaced. Glad to hear that you are okay though, Jim.
-
This is shocking news Jim. I'm so sorry. BUT you have an inspiring positive attitude and it will carry you through. If you have good insurance cover then you can make what you had better. Your customers will support you......you just have to ask.
-
very sad to hear such story!!!!!
glad you and family/friends are OK!!
-
wow..... that sucks really bad....
Look at it this way, insurance settlements should enable you to make faster cars
-
hi jim. i am very glad to hear that you and your loved ones are alive and well. stuff can be replaced, and i am sure you will pull through this. if there's anything i can do from way up here in chicago, let me know. it's strange, youhear about bad things happening to other people, but then you realize that those people are just like you. sorry for your loss, but keep your head up and you'll be back in business before you know it
-
Jim this sucks!! I hope to GOD you had good buisness insurance. If you do it will be a small setback and you will come back even stronger. I know you are in a new building, but now I guess you can say it will be a really new shop when everything is back in its rightful place. Good luck. I also think that those engines are not a total loss. they will just have to come apart and be cleaned and some minor parts replaced.
-
whoa!! what a shocker...jim...that sucks, glad you are ok. your home is ok...yes? if you need any help over the summer rebuilding stuff let me know. i can come down and help out. i will be praying for you and yours, Brian
-
Sorry to hear that Jim. Best of luck to you.
-
Jim:
I'm sorry to hear the news! I'm speechless.
-
Hey, Jim, sorry to hear about your troubles. I know you will bounce back. Luckily your most valuable business asset was safe between your ears.
-
-
Jim,
I am really sorry to hear the bad news.
But am really glad to know that you and your family and friends are ok.
You'll be in our thoughts and prayers ...
Hope to hear from you soon.
Lou
-
jim,
You got me email. You know I will help in any way. Just drop me a line. I am terribly sorry for it all.
-
Aboslutely speechless, we must have spoken hours before the disaster the other day. Our thoughts are with you and if anyone can rebound from this, you can Jim!!!
-
Bad news: It appears my Insurance policy does not cover a FLOOD !!! This means that all of the losses may go un-recovered. The only possibility for some financial assistance seems to be from the Feds... FEMA and SBA have been by to investigate the damage, and there is a slim chance that I will qualify for this damage program. Other targets must be met in the area for the County to get the $$$, but if it does in fact come, then I should be a part of it. This would certainly be a shot in the arm for my recovery. I will pray.
-
Good god...what an unforuntunate situation.
Lets hope the Feds decide to pour some serious money into the area businesses to help you guys recoup. Ive got my fingers crossed for you Jim, you deserve better!
If you need anything, let us know...
-
Jim,
When I read your message my heart sank. I am glad you and your loved ones are doing well. Your positive attitude towards this tragedy is great. This situation can "learn us all" that even bad situations can turn out for the better in the end, as I am sure this will. Keep on truckin and hopefully soon you can get back here to provide your expertise and wisdom to the Fast and The Furious Wanabees on this board
Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Jim,
I'm sorry soory to hear of the loss. I feel your pain somewhat because I became a victim too during the storm. Nothing close to what happened downtown but my drains backed up and flooded my basement and den. Of course, no flood insurance but with 11" anyone on a hill can get water damage. If I can help in anyway with clean up or what ever let me know. For those who want to see pics of the flood in his business distict, go to the site below. His shop sits behind the Golden Rule BBQ Restaurant.

Oh man I'm speechless. I am so sorry tp hear about this situation for you. As others have pointed out, at least you and yours are safe, and indeed your best business asset is between your ears !
A friend was in a similar situation, had flood insurance (house) but paradoxically not groundwater coverage. Water ran into the house not due to a flood but to the ground being saturated. Not covered ! Unreal.
Sorry again. Wish I could help.

Yeah, it amazes me that insurance companies royally fuck people over year after year....
I'm sorry to hear this happened to you Jim
If you need ANYTHING, you know how to get ahold of me

Typical insurance company. Always with the legal loopholes ie "Act of God, etc." When we were hit by the Northridge Earthquake back in 94, most of the SF Valley (suburb of LA) was hit the hardest by the quake. Nearly everyone who needed it received a low interest loan from SBA and many received grants from FEMA. I'm sure our gov't will help. Please keep all of us posted on the situation.
-
Jim, I'm absolutely speechless. My heart sank when I read your first post, then dropped into the bottom of my stomach when I heard about your insurance. Mother Nature has hurt a lot of good people these past few days. I am thankful that you did not lose anything that cannot be replaced.
-
Sorry to hear about that Jim.. I sorta know the feeling. Tropical storm allison distroyed everything in the houston area. My race/street car was submerged in water up to the roof. Everything will find a way to work itself out, just got to keep a positive attitude which I think you are showing. I am sure the motors's are okay just maybe some electrical problems.. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

oh man, that sux!
Well, at least if the customers cars have full coverage insurance they are safed.
I hope you get all that shitty stinky water and mud out quick. Same things happand in our area last year too. God thanks we was safe.
Head ups man!
-
What a bummer! I had no idea you were at such a low elevation. Hope you had some comprehensive coverage on the cars.
-
Oh my goodness...
Jim, sorry it has been so long since I have been in touch. I check into hostboard for some data, and I unfortunately am confronted with this thread. That is such awful, awful news. I shudder to imagine losing even one project car (or car in general) to something like this.. but to lose as many as you did.. absolutely tragic.
I know there's nothing that nothing that I or anybody else can say to make the situation better, but I know I speak for many when I say that you truly hope that this cloud does have a silver lining, and that vidication will be yours. Best wishes to getting your business and projects back in order ASAP, and with as little financial set-back as possible as well. Take care my friend-

Jim,
I really hate to hear what happened. Best of luck.

Got damn! I'm sorry Jim... You are one of the few "good guys" left in the business. I hope nothing stops you from rebuilding your business, as you have helped so many people... for that, I personally thank you.
-
I'm shocked. I will certainly keep you and your situation in my prayers.
-
Parts of Alabama (hopefully including where Jim is) have now been declared federal disaster areas.
Everyone cross your fingers for some disaster aid for Jim...
-
Jim,
Not sure if you remember me...but I'm glad to hear you are ok. I didnt expect to hear anything like that.
We all know cars can be replaced...
Hope things get better for you!

If there is anything I can do, let me know.
Your friend,

JIM,
I am sorry to hear about your situation. If I can do anything to help, you know the number. Just an idea to start you back and running, if you need me to replace any of my product that may have been damaged let me know. I will be more than happy to help. And if you need a big ass truck to get around in the water, you can borrow my blazer on 44's Good luck, and call me if you need anything.
