FOOTBALL PICKS

Not coaching football this year, just wondering what everyone's picks are for the upcoming season.

Here are mine.


Honaker
Haysi
TV
Hurley

In all honesty I really believe that Haysi can win it again, I am just giving Honaker the advantage because they have more coming back.

Hurley could push for the 3rd spot and possibly give one of the top two a run. Especially if everything I have heard about the numbers being up.

TV has Wyatt Justus and a veteran line which could stand out, some players deciding not to play this year may hurt them in the long run.

What are your thoughts?

haysi lost a lot but the players filling those positions will do a great job (but who will play RB)

honaker also lost a lot I dont think they will be able to fill those positions quite as well as haysi (but then again I dont know anything about those players)

like n8trboy said wyatt justice (TV needs to find a better way to give him the ball) and an experienced line should power TV to a respectable season

I dont expect hurley to be as good as they were last year(they almost lost to TV) but still better than the years before its all a numbers game for the rebels

It's hard to pick number 1 considering us and honaker tend to upset each other a lot but i'm going to go with...

1. Haysi- We've lost quite a bit but most people are replaceable

2. Honaker- Always a good team. I'm not sure about how many they lost but I'm confident they'll field a team that will compete.

3. Hurley- They are starting to get their program rolling but still shouldn't be able to touch the two tigers this year. Maybe in a few more.

4. TV- Justus was WAY overrated but with a better line TV might just surprise us.

1. Haysi...probably won't win the region but still should be pretty solid.
2. Honaker...lost a little more than Haysi did from what I understand, still could end up winning it playing Haysi at home.
3. Hurley...may win about 7 games but will once again be ousted in the first round of the d1 playoffs.
4. TV...they have Justus but they have alot of questions that need to be answered.

My preseason top 10 in SWVA will probably look something like this: (although I will revise before the season starts)
1. Richlands
2. Powell Valley
3. Graham
4. Gate City
5. George Wythe
6. Rural Retreat
7. Tazewell
8. Haysi
9. Honaker
10. JI Burton

Best of the rest:
Carroll County
Appalachia
Va High
Clintwood

I don't have any picks for the upcoming season since I haven't seen any of these teams play in the last 4 years or so but I got tired of checking this board and not seeing any posts.

Yeah we need to get it going again, its that time of year...and with none of that crap like we had last year of people getting on here and acting like they are from somewhere else. That runs good posters off and makes people not even want to fool with getting on here.

I hope trumpet comes back. He was fun to mess with. He was also good at blowing hahaha.

I think which ever tiger team can come togeather the quickest will win the bdd title. Twin Valley and Hurley will battle for the third spot . I believe even if Haysi don't win the district they will have enought points to make regionals, not for sure if my Tigers can do that with lebanon, richlands, abingdon , va high and tazewell on the schedule.

If they don't screw us then the rye cove rule will allow us to drop to D1. Possible repeat of region on the horizon.

Had we been D1 like we should've been for a while playing schools our own size we'd have just as many state titles if not more than PV or Appy.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You can't drop to Div 1 this year since you can only make the appeal in odd years (05 or 07 not 06) unless the "Rye Cove" rule is revised (heard rumer that it may be) both Haysi and Clintwood will most likley drop in 07

i saw the st.paul pound game and the deacons look much improved. a shot and the div 1 playoffs is not completely out of the question for them in my opinion...pound did appear to be fairly down from last year however.
