According to Superhero Hype, this guy is 'in negotiations to play the coveted role of Nightcrawler in 20th Century Fox's "X-Men 2" for director Bryan Singer..'
There's a link to pictures of him at the site...this is one of them...he looks okaish...but I don't know if he's really cute enough for Kurt...

*clicks through his pictures* well, he looks like a happy friendly sort... that fits atleast. that is a good sign they are not going for the dark brooding character. *finds his film credits* he is a voice actor for cartoon series, so he is probably very good at accents. one of those cartoon series is Spider-Man, so prolly a comics fan, that's a plus (the NEW one by Bendis... iiiinteresting....) *reads his credits some more....* OH MY GOD!!! those photos don't do him justice, he's the Freaky Links guy!! I LOVE HIM! he's actually very handsome, when you see him in action, and a good, subtle actor with a nice voice... so I wouldn't mind him playing the part at all! infact since he is the very cute Freaky Links guy, I would love it! his voice is exactly what i picture when I think Nightcrawler (minus the accent of course) I must admit, I didn't put 2 and 2 together from the photos, he really does not photograph well... odd for an actor... but he looks great when he's moving! oh yeah points in his favour - curly hair, 5'10", 23 years old, won a gymnastics tournament, did his own stunts in White Squall.... right hair, exactly the right height for Nightcrawler, and not old, can do gymnastics and his own stunts... I'm liking this idea more and more - bring him on!
also maybe it is best they are going with a relative unknown... like Hugh Jackman and Wolverine... he made that part his own. you never thought of him as the actor, just the character. where as... as perfect as he was for the roll... you couldn't help but think of Star Trek when you saw Xavier sometimes... But I checked out his bio, and yeah, he's got a lot of Kurt-ish qualities to him...and not just the physical...there's were a couple of personal quotes there from him...

I liked Luke Goss, but he's probably too old.
Matthew Lillard was in the movie Scream, he played Stu. (One of the psycho killers) and he's Shaggy in the movie Scooby Doo.

*Looks at some pics* Well, he is a cute guy. And he does look happy. First impression from that pic posted above is that he had HUGE eyes. Not so much, now that I look again, but big eyes would prolly show off the yellow better.
I too shall add my terribly important stamp of approval to this fellow. Now I'm just waiting to see the first publicity stills for Nighty. Which will be months and months off, I'm sure.

As soon as the UC formerly known as KC mentioned Empire Records, I knew exactly who he was.
I love Empire Records. Liv Tyler. Renee Zellweger. Renee in a teensy shop apron. *snaps back to reality*
Anyway, Ethan's character in it (Mark) is the goofy clerk at the record store that always seems to be off in his own world...might have something to do with those brownies...
He was pretty funny in Vegas Vacation too as Nick Papagorgio, er, I mean Rusty Griswold. (Those of you who have seen the film will get it)
So if you haven't seen him before and want to, I would recommend either of those. But especially Empire Records. Unless you're not into the late teen day in the life movies. Then go with Chevy Chase.

I havent seen Freaky Links, but I am familiar with Ethan from CANT HARDLY WAIT. (Dont laugh...I actually loved that flick!) From that and from what i'm reading from you guys about his work I am really, really excited about his casting. (They could have done much worse!)
Honestly, i'm still kind of in a state of disbelief over the fact that Nightcrawler's even in the next X-movie, much less (reportedly) being given a starring role.
SPIDER-MAN (which i've seen 5 times) looks like it actually has a chance to be the #1 grossing movie of all time...and NIGHTCRAWLER is the star of the next X-MEN movie?!!

It seemed that Nighty was a second-string, ignored and abused character until we all gelled together over on the Wizard World Board. Nighty fandom seems to have boomed from there, with the formation of this place and now with fan sites, many of which run by posters here, popping up all over the Web. I know his appearance on Evolution had a lot to do with attracting new fans, but still, I wonder... After all, we know some creators do lurk on BBs.

but it kinda seems to be the case everywhere you go, lately. he seems to be groing in popularity. i think Nightcrawler is a lot more popular than most people realize. you start a topic about him just about anywhere and it gets lots of responses. and yet while he's widely liked, he still is not considered one of the 'cool' X-Men... odd.
Hmm... that's interesting. You know what I think it is, I think Nightcrawler is one of the few characters than anyone really DISLIKES. I mean, with most of the X-men, you have your die-hard fans, and then people who think they should be killed off, but of all the fans I know, they all LIKE Nightcrawler, he's just not # 1 on the list. He's often in the top 5 or 10 though- I think it's just fewer people have him as #1. He does often take a back seat to some of the flashier characters because his powers aren't...well I don't want to say "flashy" but-- they're not really agressive- y'know? I think when someone picks up a comic for the first time, they're thinking "those claws are cool!" or "eyebeams ROCK!" not "look at the way he teleported and artfully delivered those punches!"

YAY! i loved "empire records"!!!!
I think the character has an immediate eye catching ability in his demon-like looks. Then you have the interesting contrast in his religious back ground. Where other characters tend to be annoying in someway(see Kitty Pryde) or over the top(see Wolverine).
Even in all the goodness we see in Kurt we still like to see that dark streak in alternate realities. One of my favorites is from the original Magik series.
I'm psyched that Nightcrawler's going to be IN the next movie AND in a major role.
BUT, I'm a little worried that he's gonna seem like a villian at first. And I RRREEEAAAAAALLLLYYYY want him to join the X-Men!
Since Ethan Embry is being considered, that tells me that probably aren't going to make a him a true villian (since Ethan's just too friendly looking to be cast as a bad guy), but even so that doesn't guarantee he'll be joining the X-Men.

It's probably just an (pardon the pun) uncanny coincidence, but doesnt it seem like all of these good things started happening for Nightie not too long after our little Wizworld 'cult of the Elf' started to really pick up some steam?

Damn! Now they're saying over at the Comics Continuum that Ethan Embry WON'T be playing Nightcrawler, since he's not available. Just when we'd all gotten used to the idea!!
Although it does have a familiar ring to it ... Hugh Jackman ended up playing Wolverine because Dougray Scott, who was originally cast, had a schedule conflict. And we all know how that turned out.
Still, I'm a little disappointed.
Ooookay ... now I'm reading that Alan Cumming has signed on to be Nightcrawler. Now, while I think Alan Cumming is very talented, I do think he's a bit ... homely to be the Elf.
Anyone else a little dismayed by this casting choice? :/

ha, i guess you got that right, the Pyro guy is much more homely than Cumming.
i did go to www.alancumming.com and feel a bit better about the choice... and i am certain he is dripping talent. but i still want him to be dreamy handsome [img]frown.gif[/img] but this choice is sure showinthe dfference between us diehards and them 'other guys' [img]tongue.gif[/img] everybody else seems to be of the opinion he looks exactly right for the part. typical. everyone but fans of the character thinks he's creepy looking.

Yes! It's the crooked nose! He's not too bad, in that skinny dork way. He's got a cute smile and dimples, but that nose bothers me. He looks a lot younger than he is.

their twenties with at least a little "younger crowd" appeal...since they really should capitalize on the Evolution Nightcrawler fandom.
