Back in August of 2001, I was verbally attacked by three members from the Super-8 filmmaking board...they made several caustic and unnecessary remarks toward me.
When I responded back, I was labeled the troublemaker by the moderator, and without the moderator ever having even one discussion with me off-line, asked/demanded that I not post there anymore.
This became an easy way out for that moderator. Since I had just started this forum, many on the Super-8 forum confused me with being the moderator of their forum. They would see the word Moderator by my name and think I was the moderator of the super-8 filmmaking board.
I think this really bugged the real moderator, who was in absentia. While he was in absentia was when the worst of the attacks happened.

I had already posted over 900 times on hundreds of topics on that Super-8 forum, and had truly helped that forum grow from a mere 4-5 topics a day, to 20 topics a day, over a span 8 month span.
I Now had to start over with my own super-8 forum. This was no easy task because the forum I used to post on was now so active.
It took me a couple of months, but I finally had my new Super-8 forum flourishing when the switch to Hostboard II happened.
Before the switch happened, I was chastised on the ADM for fearing the potential loss of topic posts due to the changeover. I was admonished for worrying about such a thing, from both ADM and from other moderators.
The changeover happened and ALL 140 topic posts and 930 total posts for my Super-8 Filmmaking in the Digital Age were lost, and have not been found since.
I started again, from zero.
Super-8 Filmmaking in the Digital AGE, with the help of a few really neat people, was thriving again...then, Hostboard went down for a few weeks, and lost three weeks worth of posts once it went back up, again, several dozen interesting topics either disappeared or went back zero replies.
So now I will try and get it going for a third time.
I have lost some enthusiasm for "Discuss This" because it is located in Personal Messages Category.

I can't move it elsewhere because my forum is moderated by "no one".
My forum was located in General Discussion on Hostboard I. How can there not be a General Discussion category for Hostboard II???
How can there not be a philosophy category but there is a pschokinetic category??? (or something like that)
My Sports forum lost ALL of it's energy during all of the down time, and over 80% of the forum regulars from that forum now post elsewhere outside of Hostboard.
And to top it off, I'm not even named as moderator for either "Super-8 Filmmaking in the Digital Age" or Discuss This.
But hey, the New Hostboard is cool. And for those who don't have any link to the past, you get to breeze in completely unaware of what came before your arrival.

(UPDATE) I now am listed as moderator of the Super-8 filmmaking forum. Maybe someone we know will go trolling for new pictures.

in the grander schemes of things...hostboard is not allllllllllllll that important. Just think of it as letting go and start a new leaf. -a new age turn the other cheek sorta thing.

I helped grow the Super-8 Filmmaking board.
I then began moderating Discuss This, Super-8 Filmmaking in the Digital Age began a month later, then Cleveland Indians Baseball a month after that.
I don't agree about the important statement because it is an investment of time on my part. However, it is a free service and as such, the right to expect something is thwarted.
It's the continual starting over that's frustrating, especially because I have to compete with something I helped build.

I think I got a one rating on ADM after I responded to someone that the diarhhea coming out of their month wasn't worth the spittle it was drooled on...or something like that.
The actual issue brought up by another that preceded the sparring was that moderators don't have to be fair.
While that may be true, I pointed out that the fair thing to do would be to let those who post on your site know ahead of time that the moderator does not believe in fairness, rather than springing it on them after they had been there for many months.
Was that such an outlandish point to make?
I bring up a philosophical point about fairness, and I got a rude response from someone, then I responded in kind with my diarhhea comment.
Next thing I know, I have a one by my rating...and I think it was more than one entity. (I call them an entity because a real person wouldn't score me so low) Since then, My rating has slowly come up to a three.
Don't ask me why, but I have yet to rate anybody.
