I have an 99 LS with a 6psi Jackson Racing blower,JR fuel pump, DC 4-2-1 header, greddy exhaust and an AEM CAI. I have an automatic transmission and ever since I installed the jrsc the car has been mis shifting. I am considering putting in a manual transmission, but im not sure which one (LS, GSR?) i heard that the LS tranny is better for FI applications because the gears are longer, is this true? Also Im not sure which clutch or flywheel to get? I have also ben considering the ENDYN stepper pulley but i dont want to have to buy new injectors and a BTM or J&S for 15hp, just doesnt seem worth it (do you have to run octane boost at 9psi?). I am also running my stock igniton, does this mean anything? So what would you guys reccomend for my next step? Thanks for your advice in advance.

I have an LS like you and I am also planning on going 9 psi with the Endyn pulley. I would recommend an ignition system for your boosted application. Some will say you don't need one for a Honda b/c the factory unit is good enough. I have an MSD 6A and have had no problems with it. It can't hurt.
As far as the J&S goes, I am a firm believer in dyno tuning. It can be expensive but you always know what your car is doing. Careful tuning will prevent the problems like detonation (ping or knock). So, i don't use the J&S while others here swear by it.
Many here are using clutch components from ACT and Clutch Masters. I have an ACT clucth (6 puck and extreme pressure plate) and love it.
I would also stick with the LS tranny. Longer gears are good for FI. Some will say the 5th gear is too long, but how often do you do top speed type runs?
Hope this helps you.

Oh, and when you do turn up the boost don't forget larger injectors (310's are a good choice for 9 psi), a cartech FMU and the Jackson Racing BTC.

Thanks for the advice. So if i get bigger injectors i can run 92 octane with no problem? What brand of injectors and where to buy? Also what does the JR BTC do, how much is it and where is a good place to buy. Is the MSD BTM the same thing? And one last dumb question does the stepper pulley include a new belt? Thanks again

auto-gs,
How does the JRSC feel on your auto teg? I also have a auto teg and I'm thinking of either a greddy turbo kit(when it comes out) or JRSC.
-
whatwhat: I love my jrsc and the the extra power that it provides for my LS that was so slow however my transmission isnt the same it mis-shifts. You might be better off with a turbo but my main reason i picked the jrsc was becasue it is reliable and street legal. ALthough i have talked to other auto tegs with the jrsc and they havent run into any problems. good luck

auto-gs: How much did u pay for ur JRSC?
-
whatwat: i paid around $2400 for the supercharger i believe.
Can anyone answer my other questions?
-
q1: So if i get bigger injectors i can run 92 octane with no problem?
a1: Bigger injectors just mean you can run lower fuel pressures to deliver the same amount of gas. The would only cure detonation if you were absolutely maxxing out your current injectors, which is unlikely. You can pump fuel pressure up past 130psi and injectors will still work (for a little while at least, BTDT).
q2: What brand of injectors and where to buy?
a2: Venom 320cc/min or RC 310cc/min are what a GSR should get. They will do fine.
Venom...
Pros: higher flow rate, pintle injector is what the ecu expects so they may work better, no need to cut wiring harness for new plugs.
Cons: Extremely difficult to obtain, depending on what you need, more expensive, rumours say they may not be acccurately calibrated.
RC...
Pros: Perfectly balanced, cheaper, easy to find.
Cons: Lower flow, wire cutting needed, disc style injector may not be as "perfect" as a pintle would.
If you want to try to save some money, Venom oversized stock GSR injectors (flow 10% more than stock GSR injectors) are easily available and cheaper than RC 310's. You'll have to run higher fuel pressure with these than with the other two choices.
q3: Also what does the JR BTC do, how much is it and where is a good place to buy.
a3: Changes ignition timing based on boost and rpm, specifically tuned for Honda motors. It smoothes out the no boost to boost transition and smoothes and improves low RPM and non-boosted performance because of optimally advanced timing.
Jim Helbing aka JRCivic sells them. I paid $359 for mine. You could maybe save some money by going elsewhere, but Jim is 110% reliable and VERY helpful before and after and even w/o a purchase.
q4: Is the MSD BTM the same thing?
a4: Close. The MSD BTM only retards timing on a set by a knob degrees/pound boost. It does nothing for off boost performance and is not optimized for Hondas.
q5: And one last dumb question does the stepper pulley include a new belt?
a5: I don't know, but it's just a belt. Any auto parts store will have one. You just have to know the right size.
Good luck,

THE LS TRANSMISSION ISNT REALLY THAT BAD OF A GEARING. MY FRIEND HAS AN LS MOTOR IN A 93 CIVIC HATCHBACK THAT RUNS 8.40'S 1/8 AND 13.40 1/4 ALL MOTOR. ON THE BOTTOM END ITS JUST FINE B/C TRACTION IS NOT A VERY BIG PROBLEM. BUT 4TH AND 5TH TEND TO FALL OFF VERY BAD.

Once you have enough fuel demand you can also up the timing too. I am running Rc/310cc with the CRV pulley, and i still run a bit on the rich side. As for Safeguard or BTC, i dont really believe them, but a lot of here love them. I use ITC from Apex. It lets you back down timing by every 1000rmp. Which is good enough for me. As for ignition, i kept my stocks besides changing spark plugs.
My rule is, less is better. (At least for electronics)

My gs is a 5speed the gears are fine. You might want to check into some things about the gsr tranny, there's more involved then just bolting up the tranny and clutch, Like axels and things like that just an FYI.
