my good friend's hubby is over there and due to come home in a couple of weeks i should call her right now!!
Well put StV. I wish it didn..no.. I won't go there.
BENSIN,
...once again, you prove to be the stupid uneducated ass that we all think you are.
...like the war or not, we not only need to be there, we have to be there.
...go ahead and elect Kerry. Then, we pull out of Iraq, turning the largest source of oil in the world over to terrorists. Then you'll end up paying $5.00, $6.00, maybe even $7.00 for a gallon of gas.
...BUT WAIT! It's not about oil or gas at all! It's about funding terrorism!
...but, no big deal. Because we can always count on an asshole like YOU to come forth and defend this country of ours. Can't we?
...you pathetic excuse of a human being, for being so fucking petty, as to bring politics into this topic and cheapen the lives of those who fight to keep this country safe for all. Shame on you.
Woo! What crawled up your ass and committed suicide?
I really hope Kerry does get elected, maybe then we can get our rights back?
You're open to your opinion, I'm open to mine. I won't even bullshit in here though, if you want to throw the shit around then PM. I'll even delete my posting for you, so you don't lose sleep over it.

Hate the loss of lives, but understand the need to be there and respect the Hell out of the men and women of our armed forces. http://www.anthonyheald.com/smileys/clap.gif
BTW, it absolutely boggles my mind that anyone in this country actually has the gall to say they don't have "rights" or that their "rights" have been taken away just because the opposing political party (to their taste) is in office.
Go live in another country like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, Jordan, Albania, etc for awhile and then come back and tell me how pathetic your rights in this country are. You don't like the party in office, fine. But base your opposition on something tangible and legitimate. Don't go running around claiming your "rights" are being taken away.... that's just offensive. *RIP for all the people that died in Irak so far
(Innocent Iraqis and American Soldiers)
Terrorists from the 9/11 attacks were from Saoudi Arabia, Egypt,Sudan...not from Irak. As much as i hate Saddam Hussein, those were the countries that needed to be investigate and Ben Laden was the guy to caught. The American Government tried to attack on two fronts at the same time and may end up losing much more than winning in body counts and world friendship.
It's really sad.
Thanks to most everyone for their comments. WE do appreciate the support from the general populace for all of us that may be or end up in harm's way. Whether you agree with the administration's decision to go to war or not, there should always be popular support for the troops who play the role of 'diplomatic tool' for any administration. If anything was learned from Vietnam, that is the lesson.
I have my own views on the administration, but politics and religion are two subjects I very rarely discuss. Just to inflammatory of topics to usually have a friendly debate.
For most in the military, here's how we look at the 2 parties:
Republicans: pay us better but also put us in harm's way more often.
Democrats: pay us less, yet keep us home more often and use cruise missiles instead.
However, I'll leave you with this thought:
From the director who brought you AvP, Paul W.S. Anderson's newest film is sure to be a hit this fall: 2004 Bush vs Kerry, Whoever Wins, We Lose
OH, I'm sorry, you're right, they should be able to snatch people at any time for any reason, yet not have to tell any one, not the employer, family, or even the lawyer of an individual - I never said I didn't like living here. Open your mouth about how things 'could' be better and you've got a freakin' murder on your hands. Think that's okay? Well guess what, Saddam did the same fucking thing to HIS people. But yea, things are getting better...
Intelligently discussing how things could be "better" is a far cry from running around like Chicken Little claiming the general public's "rights" are being taken away. No offense, but unless you've actually read the case law on the matter you don't understand what the situation really is with regard to the holding of enemy combatants.Quote:

Your alarmist statement that people can be snatched "at any time for any reason" and then held without informing anyone is far, far from accurate. It is not the case that the average person who is suspected of a "regular" criminal act (such as assault or robbery) can be snatched up off the street and held indefinitely without charge.
The legal decision that deals with the situation you are trying to describe is Hamdi v. Rumsfeld (decided by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit), and that case dealt with a very specific set of circumstances. In Hamdi, the individual in question was:

[*]Captured in a foreign theater (country)[*]During a period of active hostilities, and[*]Was deemed an "enemy combatant".
That ruling did not in any way address "run of the mill" crimes/criminals. And it in no way gave the green light for the police/government to snatch random people off the street ("at any time for any reason") and hold them indefinitely without charge. To state/claim otherwise is simply uninformed and inaccurate.

You don't have to be part of the war commity to be inform. Beeing outside of the States gives you the opportunity to be inform by more than just american newschannel.
But I'm tired and need some sleep. Your post is actually one of many anti-American bash-a-thon, however you deny it. Of course it's your 'opinion'. Of course it's respectful. You don't want to piss the US of A now, dontcha?
So long now, and GOD BLESS AMERICA!
There.
Wow, my post is Anti-US?
You're showing just how little you know about the world around you.
Beeing french Canadian is as close as beeing from France as beeing American is to beeing from England. There is 500 years between the two and not a lot in common except from the language.
If i was Anti-american, I wouldn't visit this board. I wouldn't feel like chaser, sculpey, Andyman, SNB, macabee and a lot of others are my friends. I would probably hate KISS and Bon Jovi and would probably feel that American cinema produces the the worst movies in the world.(They actually can but they also make masterpiece).
I have issues with the way the country is lead (not just right now cause thoses issues are there whether the Dem or Rep are leading) but I can agree to disagree without bashing or sounding like a joeblo. Wich isn't the case with a lot of people. I like discussing politics but doing it with people who just can't discuss or who feels that beeing from elsewhere makes you illegitimate to talk about the other person's country is just impossible.
Well, so much for non-political.
I'm sorry Eq, didn't wanted it to slip. I always assume this board is totally different than the white board.Quote:

Most of you know that my wife is Korean and sometimes we watch the Korean newscasts. They show more stuff without the left or right spin than our newscasts show. And when I'm not sure if it's factual or not, I just research it the next day at work on the classified computers. And so far, almost all of it has been factual.

Vietnam posted US casualties of waaaaaaaaaay more than 1000 over the course of 18 months, pally.
y'know, if one of you Bush-haters can give me a good reason you're voting for Kerry that DOES NOT involve Dubya, i'll keep my mouth shut.
PH,
...you couldn't be more wrong.
...the North Vietnamese were only terrorizing and killing the South Vietnamese, not the whole world and our way of life.
...come on people, this is the future of the free world we're talking about here.
Why does there need to be any other reason?
And I don't refer to it as Vietnam 2 for the death count, but for the fact that people are dying while nothing is being accomplished.
Yeah, right.
Iraq's way of life is really affecting us in North America.
Some people just can't handle the fact that others don't operate the same way we do.
Am I saying what goes on there is right? Hell no. But don't give me that bullshit that it affects us.

...it's great how the 2 airliners that went down in Russia got no airtime here. Lets not forget all the people and mostly children that were recently killed there as well, got lost in the shuffle.
And the reason for Vietnam was to stop the spread of communism, which was 'threating' the American way of life.
You think the American government really cared about the Vietnamese people? Please.
i dunno, how about the fact that his entire campaign is pretty much "george bush sucks, i'll make everything all better!"Quote:

Hell, I could say that I own a rock that prevents terrorist attacks and I could prove it just as well as you are.
yeah, aside from that whole thing where the us military is actually taking steps towards prevention. but hey, the rock thing was a brilliant comparison
Can't comment regarding the different vision from US citizens, but evidently any outcome will allways influence other countries like mine. As an example, the prior goverment sent troops to support the USA, as part of a political and economic allience while the new one bring them back.
I personally don't support the war, but I am talking from my country perspective. Maybe if we were in real war with another country or with terrorist we will also have different points of view.
PH,
...you just don't get it. It's like a cancer, it just keeps spreading until you cut it out. The longer we wait, the harder it will get. Should we wait until the landing craft are on our shores? The radicals must be eliminated now, not tomorrow. I fear for the future of our children and their children's children if we do nothing today.
