Every summer we get them. We live in an old house so they always come in some way. I'll just be sitting there and then flapflapflap, there's a bat flying around in circles. Then I get the broom, knock it out of the air, wrap something around my hand, pick it up and throw it out. I just performed this task before posting this. (Had to turn on the living room light and when I went to see where I thought I knocked it down, felt something on the bottom of my sock and there it was.) So far it's only been in the living room or dining room. The worst times are when it's in the bedroom at night and I gotta make sure I don't knock it into bed/onto the wife or babies.
-
We had one get caught in our dorm once. One of those dorms with the long hallways and a fire door on each end... me and the broom and the bat, back and forth... back and forth...
-
*wanders in*
I am BATMAN
*wanders out*
-
ooooooo, thats gonna leave a mark......
-
*runs in with broom*
Where is it? Where'd it go?
Aha!
*runs off after Firebird!*
-
*wanders back in*
I am still BATMAN
*wanders back out*
-
*Runs back in- waving broom wildly*
THERE it is! Quick- open a window!
Wackitywackwackwack!
-
At my last job I used to sit up on the top floors and listen to and watch the bats flying around. Then there was an increase in the number of barn owls living in the buildings' eaves. I think they took care of the bat population. I can just picture the owls sitting up on the rain gutters.
"Here comes another one, are you still hungry?"
"Naw, you can have this one. When did the mice grow wings anyway?"
-
Closest I came to that was catching a bird in the warehouse where I used to work. It was a baby that couldn't fly yet (don't know how it got in there). Chased it through all kinds of pipes and wires. Finally caught it and let it go.
-
Was your last job- to toll the bells?

Back at our old apartment, we had bats in the eaves. Our cats loved to watch them from the window (we were on the second floor). They learned to make "bat-charmer" noises instead of bird -charmer noises that cats usually make. So, with our foster cat that thinks it's a dog, I'm the only person here in Hell that has cats that say "muff" and "eee eeee".

My cat makes cricket charmer noises. Sorta a gurgle-bloop.

when you look at it, Lulu STILL has my brain, so this should not surprise anyone that you have not 1 but 2 firebird personalitues now.
*high 5's Lulu*

What did you want her to knock off with the broom? Your head?

That's right! You gave me your 'other' brain!
THAT explains my recently developed obsession with whacking! AND my now utterly warped decision-making skills!
Thanks Firebird! *High-5!*
Feeling slightly guilty, Lulu hops on the broom and jets toward the local Drive-thru for a cup-o-ice.
-
I've got some.
*to surrounding stpers*
Should I just give it to him, or should I dump it down his shirt?
-
*from the gutter, sitting next to crazy a*
DOWN THE SHIRT!!!!!!!
-
Down the shirt it is, then.
*and the crowd goes wild*
(pity Bird's gonna be gone from the board for a month)
-
*looks slyly at Bran*
I bet you DO like stuff going down the shirt!
Dirty bird.
Cheeky monkey.
-
*tosses a bucket of cold water into the gutter*
-
*dumps bucket of cold water on Eris*

*Pours a bucket of water on ski* would you like ice with that?
*Hands eris a dry shirt*
