Hey there.
More than the chuffin house you live in. Forgeddaboutit. For the next few years at least.
Despin out.
You never know, might have a few hundred mill tucked behind the sofa...
It was a Sony body with Panavision lenses I believe.
In theory you could create the graphics used in AoTC for the cost of a new PC and the time it takes you download RedHat Linux and supporting 3D apps. Oh, and render time of 2000 x 1000 x 32bit x 24fps on a single node. Best get that renderfarm ...
Yes, RedHat is now the preferred platform for Dreamworks, ILM, Henson CreatureShop, ...
And ILM are starting to use stock AMD Athlon systems to replace their creaking (and overpriced) SGI workstations.
Death to MS Wintel Palladium (please!)
I got a loans ,CC, help from my Parents, saving, money from work, 100,000. So I think I still with Film because it does cost so much to transfer Video to Film.
Brenda, I seem to be detecting small errors in your sentence structures that lead me to wonder if you have not made a similar error in the amount you say you have to spend.
Have you already gained experience by working on other people's films and can we assume this isn't your first foray into filmmaking?
I do have a Grammar disablilty. It took me years to build up good enough Credit rating so I can get Credit Cards & Loans in 100,000,plus My Parents help & Jobs & saving. I did make a few Video and took A producing class .

Brenda, if I was you I would pocket that money and save it for the future. From what you have said it seems that you need to get more experience in the field first. At the end of the day it's up to you but I think your just going to end up with a finished film and an empty bank account. It is very hard to make a good film with your first venture, most film makers fall into this hole.
I understand what you are saying & don't think I have not want oh wow if this Bomb I am in debt with a 100,000,but to learn I got to do it. If I fail I just try it again, but thanks for the tips.
Hey Alex time will tell just keep and open mind and look for the Name Brenda Diane Smith, The Company is call BDS Production. I cann't fail because every time I do something in the filmmaking I learn and get better. The script is being work on I am looking for the crew, and talnet So I am doing as we speak.
If you really took a producing class and emersed yourself in it, yet found no one in that group to keep in touch with now that you are resolute in making your film...
...you have already failed.
In another topic post you stated you could not find any talented help in the NYC area. I'm not from NYC yet I found that comment a bit offensive.
If you have an open mind to suggestions, I would suggest the following.
Find a film project that ran out of money, needs very little money to finish, and figure out how you can help them finish their film while absorbing every bit of info you can about their project.
The following will happen, the small amount of money you invest in this other project will pay itself back ten-fold toward your own production.
You will make friends and be a hero to others while benefiting yourself via knowledge and exprience, you really can't lose.
You will probably make excellent distribution contacts while learning about Production & Post-Production success stories & failures.
Why be Offen I just place one Ad in the papper,I have not givin up I have found other place to put my Ads. No I am working on my own Project I have already started on it. You Assume I don't know Filmmaking at all, look I stuff to learn and I will learn. But I got the Production Co,the script is being work on,the star of the movie is pick and is in training for the film, It has start. I just wanted to get a idea on the digital part. You have to take risk the easy way leaves to a boring life.I am not saying be a fool ,but take risk. It's a risk if """I lose it is money so what."""" I would have learn alot and I just do it again. If I got to work at MacDonalds to get the money I will. I want give up until I get it right!!!
Brenda The Filmmaker, BDS Production
And with that, the voice of reason is once again overpowered. Sigh.
Regardless, if you're ever in Ireland Brenda, make sure to look me up. Id get a cinema screening with 100,000.
I hate to bring it up because it sounds stupid but are you all aware of Kevin Smiths debut? I cant remember the amount of credit cards he took out for that one? Well it was a lot.
But if I had that much to spend no way would I want to use digital. Definately 35mm.
Good luck to you, I admire your determination.
It's US, and people Like K.Smith,Robert Townson,Spike Lee did the Credit Card and that's were I got Idea from, mostly Robert Townson. Thanks Redlum

Hey there,
When did Kevin Smith make a feature film on 35mm for under a 100 grand?
Me thinks Clerks was a 16mm black and white feature.
Despin out.
Brenda's post has created a whirlpool of clashing logic.
How the heck did I end up on the side of encouraging someone NOT to make a film....
wait a minute, lets add one more word......
yet,
not make a film, yet.
I have witnessed others so motivated to make their own film that they put zero value on the help others can provide, primarily because they themselves had placed no value on helping others succeed.
I can't say for sure if they would have been better off wanting to be part of a successful team before branching off on their own, but it sure seems like it in retrospect.
I suppose if you jump in the water and flail your arms enough, you will get attention. Good luck.
OK Alex show me the way you help me make mines. You don't know me the reason I start my Company is because I am disable and the disable don't get a chance to make films. You don't know who I am helping by doing my project or what it might change for The disable. Do not be so quick to judge. This is a real Co,and working on a film to stop and work on someone proeject is crazy, but I like to ad I have help a few people do a small projec before. Now it's my turn.
No Thanks I study great indie Filmmakers already. I know what to do. You are a Funny Guy to apply that someone should take there Money and but it in someone else Project!!!!! I did that stuff in school now I am working on my own 35mm film.I just wanted to know about all this talk about Digial. You Assume I don't know Filmmaking look you feel people should go help others out great I hope that is what you are doing puting your money into other people project if that is what you are doing then it is not wrong for you,but it is wrong for me. I Make my own Project and I am not wrong for that.Brenda Diane Smith
I'll give you a lead.

They are probably more focused in funding their own projects than being cheerleaders for others but perhaps they will have information they can share with you.
You might want to start by purchasing a VHS of their independent movie, Ready, Willing & Able. It's a movie worth studying on a myriad of levels, both in front the camera and behind the scenes.
You can view a trailer for the movie once you are on their site.

You have completely misinterpreted my last post.
COMPLETELY.
OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think...Dohhhhhhh!!!! is more the order of the day.
You asked for some help, I gave you an excellent lead on multiple levels, and then you lost me...it's as if you reverted back to earlier in the topic and responded to that, rather than to the new info I had provided.
No thanks I don't need your help. I know what I am doing.

clerks (kevin smith) was made for 24,000 dollars, and shot on 16mm black & white.
evil dead (sam raimi) was made for 500,000 dollars, and shot on 16mm (or maybe it was 35mm).
